The idea is simple: fill a shoe box with gifts and it will be given to someone in need. Items like a new hat or scarf, or perhaps a small toy for a child will be much appreciated by those living in poverty in the UK. If you would like to fill a box or to help us distribute them, please get in touch! To get your school involved e-mail schools@jcclondon.org.uk.

Wednesday 28th November – Sunday 30th December YaD Arts in association with Tall Stories (the company that brought you The Gruffalo and Room on the Broom) return to the Roundhouse this December after Tall Stories’ sell out run of Twinkle Twonkle last year. Our Hannukah Latke jumps from the boiling pan and races through the wintery village which is deep in the throes of festive preparations. Lost amongst the snowy landscape, the Christmas lights and pine trees, will our Latke ever find where it belongs? Co-commissioned by the Roundhouse and the Jewish Community Centre for London, this new adaptation of the absurdly funny Lemony Snicket story is vividly brought to life by Tall Stories. A show about being yourself and appreciating others, Latke is the perfect family show to see this winter. Supported by Arts Council England and the Family Circle. Age range: 5+

Wot! No Fish?

In 1926, Ab Solomons brought his wage packet home for his wife Celie. As a token of his love, he doodled on the packet. From then on, Ab drew Celie a cartoon every week, recording the ups and downs of their family’s life in the East End. In 2009, writer and director Danny Braverman discovered a crate containing over 3,000 of Ab Solomons’ cartoons. In these special performances, he tells the story of Ab and his family. It’s a chronicle full of humour and sadness, giving a glimpse into the Jewish East End and allowing the public to see Ab’s cartoons for the very first time.

JCC Schools

Little Bees

Participating schools will learn about a day in the life of a worker and queen bee, the structure of the hive, the production of honey, and how we can collectively encourage honey bees to visit green spaces.

Join the growing JCC schools’ community! This term we will be increasing young people’s awareness of ecological issues and teaching about the critical role of the honey bee in our delicate ecosystem.

The JCC is committed to developing a passion for pollination in young people. We also hope to encourage school communities to one day host their own hives.
