Introducing Professor Jimmy Choo...
Professor Jimmy Choo OBE, invites future fashion design pioneers to his innovative London Fashion Academy.
Higher education can be a frustrating place for students that want to gain access to the industry as a fashion entrepreneur while learning their craft at university.
Prof. Jimmy Choo has created JCA, the fashion school of the future, to provide ambitious design students with all of the tools they need to become a brand innovator.
Our practical design courses focus heavily on developing an entrepreneurial mindset, driving innovation
innovation and building relationships with key industry contacts as we aim to create the next generation of fashion pioneers.
The world of tomorrow will be shaped by the pioneers of fashion design from JCA. Tackling and solving challenges of fashion in 21st century life.
With education as your platform, build a legacy and claim your place in history as a fashion design innovator.
What will you be known for?

Academy Approach
MARYAM ORCHID
MA FASHION ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN DESIGN & BRAND INNOVATION

Graduate with a business.
Our goal is to support your transition from higher education into entrepreneurship or employment where you can hit the ground running.
All JCA students are encouraged to start their own brands during their studies and find retail opportunities to sell the collections they have designed. This is an invaluable way to learn how commerce intersects with design and gives you the confidence to move seamlessly into the world of professional design when you graduate.
There is a strong thread of work-related learning throughout the programme, and learners at the Academy will be professionally ‘incubated’ as aspiring
designers, and ‘develop’ their craft in professional studios and integrated technology.
This progressive engagement will include training in industry standard software, commercially sponsored ‘live’ project work, industrial visits, competition entries, and professional practice-based reflection.
The modules at all levels integrate theory with practice, each containing a project as a focus for learning. The subject of each of these projects is carefully selected to progressively extend the depth and breadth of entrepreneurial, creative skills, and knowledge.
We’re as much of a startup incubator as we are a higher education academy.
I picked JCA because the standard of courses it offers. More than that, I picked JCA because there is no other institution that offered me the same opportunities.
Sam BA (Hons) Fashion : Design, Branding and Entrepreneurship

A luxurious student experience
A nurturing and stimulating environment is vital to the creative process.
The flagship campus is located in the heart of Mayfair; a prestigious address just a stone’s throw from London’s most iconic high-fashion emporia.
Our second campus, Boston Manor, is a historic Jacobean Manor House situated in lush parkland in Brentford.
Learn from proven fashion experts
The Academy is run by fashion professionals, not simply academic teachers, and it is highly focused on professional excellence.
Our staff are among the best in their field, professionally within fashion, and pedagogically within education. They are friendly and approachable people who work together to help create a professionally focused learning community that brings together and inculcates students, staff, and associates from the wider fashion industry.
At the Academy, you’ll benefit from a mentoring approach that nurtures your talent and accelerates your professional development. It’s practical learning delivered by industry experts, giving you a direct link to the fast-moving world of fashion.
Learning at the Academy is participatory, hands-on and above all, interactive. We don’t believe in lecturers broadcasting knowledge to silent audiences, but in learning by doing with the support of our mentors.
The JCA offers a comprehensive platform in the design techniques and entrepreneurial skills necessary to make it in this hugely competitive field. By selecting only the most promising students, the bar is kept high and the scene is set for developing excellence.
As an aspiring designer at the academy, you’re not simply a student. You’re a budding professional on a journey that starts with us, and we honour our responsibility to start you off on the right path. Indeed, we hope that when the time is right you can become a mentor to others.

Get straight into practice
Education goes far beyond books, lectures and passing assignments.
The main pedagogy of the Academy is that of studio practice. Reflecting the collaborative nature of the design discipline, students will learn, develop, and socialise in dedicated professional studios where individual and group teaching takes place through a variety of teaching and learning methods that include group crits, live projects,
competition briefs, and other forms of work-related learning.
Theory is contextualised and reinforced through debate, reflection, and importantly through practice. Learning to become a practising designer is synthesised through the lens of enterprise and entrepreneurship.
At JCA students are not only provided with the knowledge and skills necessary to pass their practical assignments but also the invaluable blackbook of network contacts they will need on their journey as a luxury brand entrepreneur, where to look and who to turn to as they begin their fashion career.
The fashion industry is an ecosystem. Designers and brand owners operate within a rich community that includes retailers, textile specialists, PR, magazine editors and figures from the world of art and music.
When you become part of JCA, you immediately become a part of this network. JCA faculty and the visiting professionals who have close ties to the Academy help ensure that students are quickly immersed in the world of fashion.
As a student of the JCA, you can expect to grow your network with key industry contacts that will help open doors for you and accelerate your career.

Idea exchanges with visiting professionals
Where important and possible life-changing relationships with students can be formed.
We benefit from the generosity of visiting professionals from across the industry who come to the campus to share their experience and expertise and potentially their valuable contacts and professional networks. It’s not a one-way process either. Visiting professionals benefit from actively engaging with ‘new blood’
emerging through the JCA and often find themselves inspired by the fresh and uninhibited ideas of our students. As a member of the prestigious JCA student community, you can expect to have a platform where your voice is heard.
Meeting Prof. Jimmy Choo was both incredibly inspiring and surreal. By meeting him I was able to get a personal insight from him on my work and advice for the future

The tutorial system
The group ‘crit’ tutorial system offers students close supervision and iterative feedback.
Students are encouraged to orally communicate, visually share, defend, analyse, and critique the ideas and work of others as well as their own. These regular sessions, which take place in small groups with your tutor and fellow students, provide an important opportunity to develop and reflect, forming an essential part of your learning journey. You’ll see
your learning journey. You’ll see your work in context with the creations of other students, and cross-pollinate ideas and approaches. Week-on-week, you will develop your critical approach and learn to build and use constructive criticism, forming close working relationships with fellow designers at the same time.
Iconic Campuses

Mayfair Campus
A prestigious building just a stone’s throw from London’s fashion emporia.
The academy is located in the heart of London’s renowned Mayfair district and aims to be a driving force for the fashion community. The institution, established in September 2021, is housed in Grade II 17th Century building, with a prime location on Hanover Square. Features & Facilities

With corresponding amenities to the Mayfair campus, featuring lockstitch, embroidery, and cover-stitch machinery, our Boston Manor Campus highlights accessories and footwear as focal points for learners to cultivate a profitable enterprise within the fashion field.

Just as the Mayfair campus prioritises ‘Incubation,’ Boston Manor House is tailored towards ‘Makerspace.’ This unique setting offers learners the opportunity to live and create while utilising the abundant resources of Boston Manor House, simultaneously working to support the rise of London’s thriving creative talent.

By undertaking the DA course at Boston Manor House campus, I’m in an environment that allows me to be creative and inspired whilst I study.
