JC&A has a long-standing relationship with iRobot, and has completed several projects at their Bedford, MA Headquarters, totaling approximately 500,000 SF of new construction and renovation work over the past decade.
JC&A recently completed a multiphase renovation project with Architect IA and Engineer AHA. Together, the team has created an “open ceiling plan”, featuring exposed beams and ductwork, as well as a natural wayfinding corridor which leads to different departments and office features acting as a main corridor, and offering a multitude of visitor experiences through a variety of unique finishes.

Boston Dynamics needed a home to support their rapidly growing engineering, development, and marketing teams while not losing sight of what was at the core of their culture – family, and connectivity. The space needed to be transparent enough that innovation could be seen from all angles, flexible enough to adapt to their ever-changing environment, and rugged enough to withstand anything that their engineers might, or might not, think of for their robotic friends to carry out.
JC&A successfully collaborated with Anchorline, former building owner; CBRE, brokerage and
project management; Bergmeyer, architecture and NV5, engineering to make this vision a reality.
The result is a nearly 180,000 SF facility located at The Post in Waltham that meets the needs of the Boston Dynamics workplace family, robots included. With an innovative mix of manufacturing, engineering, test labs, demonstration areas, office and meeting spaces, kitchens, a fitness room, mother’s and quiet rooms, and a Town Hall at its center, the new headquarters remains true to their values of inter-connectivity and transparency.

Berkshire Grey Inc’s new headquarters and Robotics Innovation Center is a place for them to showcase their capabilities for their customers, partners and investors.
The project included a 70,000 SF complete gut renovation of an old printing facility. Half of the space was converted to office space and the other half was built out as an R&D facility.
The JC&A team turned the project over in phases on the R&D side to allow BG to continue testing their products and not miss a beat with deliverables to their customers.
The transformed office space includes a reception/ welcome area, executive board room, executive offices, high-end demo suite for VIP customers to view BG’s newest products, café, training center, conference and war rooms, open office space and new restrooms.
The new R&D facility includes a machine shop, shipping and receiving area, storage cage, restrooms/locker rooms, product demo area and extensive electrical and fire protection upgrades. Berkshire Grey uses AI technology in their robotic conveying equipment.

JC&A first partnered with Amazon Robotics in 2016 and has enjoyed a robust partnership ever since, having delivered approximately 500,000 SF of new warehouse and R&D space in North Reading, Westborough and Randolph MA, marking the first Robotics Delivery Station in the country to boast Amazon Robotics’ latest configuration.
The Westborough location included conversion of an existing 60,000 SF warehouse into a robotics manufacturing facility. The project utilized multiple phases and included a brand new MDF suite for the entire campus, six lines of robot manufacturing, office space, restrooms
and breakroom spaces. Much of the work was completed while the manufacturing was active in the space.
The new building was fit-out for the client with numerous R&D, lab, manufacturing and test areas.
Highlights include a large two-story equipment mezzanine, restrooms, breakrooms, machine shop, print lab and numerous labs for testing.
An Innovation Lab was created to allow Amazon Robotics to test and develop new concepts and prototypes, while a new regulatory lab was also created with a large testing chamber.
