Ephesians 3:20

Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine

The Greatness of God

When we have a personal relationship with God, we benefit from seeing God's greatness at work in our lives. God is bigger than our problems and can bless us beyond measure. The greatness of God, the bigness of God, is not limited to time or space but transcends all boundaries. The scriptures teach us that God can do what is asked and, by the power at work within us, can accomplish far more than all we can ask or imagine. The Holy Spirit is at work in us to have faith and do what God says in the word.

The songwriter affirms this in “How Great is Our God.” (God is) “Name above all names, (God is) worthy of our praise, and my heart will sing, How great is our God!” We must be confident God sees beyond us today and is working things out for the eternal good. This is great news! Whatever our situation or circumstance, God has a greater plan to bless us and bring glory to God’s name. Let us all rejoice at the greatness of God!

Pray: Lord, thank you for your awesome power and wondrous works.

Mark 5:24b-35

So he went with him. And a large crowd followed him and pressed in on him. 25 Now there was a woman who had been suffering from a flow of blood for twelve years. 26 She had endured much under many physicians and had spent all that she had, and she was no better but rather grew worse. 27 She had heard about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28 for she said, “If I but touch his cloak, I will be made well.” 29 Immediately her flow of blood stopped, and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. 30 Immediately aware that power had gone forth from him, Jesus turned about in the crowd and said, “Who touched my cloak?” 31 And his disciples said to him, “You see the crowd pressing in on you; how can you say, ‘Who touched me?’ ” 32 He looked all around to see who had done it. 33 But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and trembling, fell down before him, and told him the whole truth. 34 He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease.” 35 While he was still speaking, some people came from the synagogue leader’s house to say, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the teacher any further?”

Risky Faith

Missionary Pioneer Hudson Taylor says, “Unless there is an element of risk in our exploits for God, there is no need for faith.” In other words, faith without risk is just a good idea. Faith without risk is a life that just makes sense. Who knows what triggered this unnamed woman to risk it all, but we do know faith led the way. Without a Plan B, she takes a life-changing risk simply because she believes Jesus would heal her. Whether she believed for twelve years or came to believe in one thought, her faith pushed passed the restriction over her gender and beyond her condition. Jesus felt her touch and wanted to see her face. Ironically, with such a bold move, she wanted to remain hidden. Jesus actively asked for her, and love revealed her. Where will your faith come out of hiding? Today, be encouraged to reach for Jesus.

Pray: God, help me be bold today.

Job 1:22

In all this Job did not sin or charge God with wrongdoing.

8 Reasons Why Christians Experience Suffering

Nothing happens for nothing. Through every circumstance, we find out how the power of God manifests in our lives for the good. Always remember there is a reason and purpose in every aspect of our lives even our suffering. Our suffering experiences come:

1. To produce fruit

Knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience (James 1:3)

After you have suffered a while, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you (I Peter 5:10)

2. To silence the devil

Satan answered the Lord and said does Job fear God for nothing (Job 1:9-12)

3. To glorify God

Neither this man nor his parents' sin, but that the works of God should be revealed in God ( John 9:1-3)

Christ raises Lazarus from the dead; this sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified ( John 11:1-4)

4. To make us like Jesus

That I may know Him in the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His suffering being conformed to His death if by any means (Philippians 3:10)

5. To teach us dependence

Paul’s thorn in the flesh: “My Grace is sufficient for thee” (2 Corinthians 12:710)

6. To refine our life

…tested by fire may be found to praise, honor, and glory ( I Peter 1:6-7)

...refining pot for silver, the furnace for gold, but the Lord tests the hearts of man (Proverbs 17:3)

7. To enlarge our ministry

Who comforts us in all tribulations that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God (2 Corinthians 1:3-7)

8. To rebuke our sin

Don’t despise chastening…whom He loves He chastens (Hebrews 12:5-9 The time has come, judgment to begin at the house of the Lord" (I Peter 4:15)

Pray: God, help me to embrace the lessons that come from every experience.

Exodus 17:9

Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some men for us and go out; fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand.”

The Pilgrim’s Trek

At the Red Sea, as Israel stood at the threshold of Redemption to show that their deliverance was entirely God's work they were told, "Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today." God alone entered the theatre of battle Egypt's enslaving power was destroyed, and their implements of war lay shattered, strewn along the shore.

Now, the newly freed people must take the field of conflict under the watchful eye of that same Deliverer God who empowers from the shadows. The war raged throughout the night, and when the sun rose, Israel was victorious and changed by the experience. Never forget the God who shattered Satan's power and promises to sustain you throughout your earthly pilgrimage. Each redemptive stage requires that we trust God, who redeems and sanctifies us

Pray: God, thank you for your sustaining power.

Psalm 4:7

You have put gladness in my heart more than when their grain and wine abound.

Lord, Give Me More than Grain or Wine

The Lord has a myriad of ways to satisfy the deepest, indefinable longing of our hearts. One thinks of Augustine, "Thou hast made us for thyself, O God, and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in you."

God, grant that I would instinctively come to you instead of the broken cisterns of the world, which can hold no water. God forbid that I should settle for "grain and wine” when you freely give unfathomable wells of heavenly joy to all who will look to you.

Pray: God, thank you for satisfying my heart with your love.

Numbers 13:33

There we saw the Nephilim (the Anakites come from the Nephilim), and to ourselves we seemed like grasshoppers, and so we seemed to them.”

Deal with the Grasshoppers

Learning how to view yourself can drastically improve your life. When God wants you to do big things, everyone may not see you right, and you may not see yourself right, but how you view yourself does matter.

You may sometimes think that God doesn't want you to do anything big, but God does. When faced with giants or big obstacles, prior to dealing with them, sometimes you must deal with the grasshopper mentality in your own mind. It's not that the problem is too big; it could be that you view yourself and God as too small.

The giant is sometimes just an invitation to think bigger. Life flows in the direction of your thoughts. For whatever is next, deal with the grasshopper, think big, and allow God to upgrade how you view yourself. God will give you the courage to face your giants. You're not small; God doesn't want you to see yourself as frail and inadequate. You are not. Squash the grasshopper in your mind and give yourself permission to think big. Your giants are giving you direction to your promise. Don't give them any more ground. Deal with the grasshopper, slay the giants, and occupy your promise.

Pray: God, help me see greater in me.

Psalm 19:14

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

Grateful for this Day

Each day is divinely ordered, and every circumstance is divinely structured to edify God’s purpose. God uses us to fulfill that purpose. I am so grateful to know that with each new day, brand-new mercies abound, and God has prepared me divinely to fulfill a specific purpose. And so, today, let us simply walk in gratitude for another day in the land of the living and declare: Thank you, Lord, for waking me up this morning clothed in my right mind; thank you for the sunshine, the rain, the pain, and the gains. Thank you, Lord, for everything!

Let words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you on this day, Lord, for this is the day that you have made, and I shall Rejoice and be glad in it!

Pray: God, thank you for another day.

Isaiah 64:4-5

4 From ages past no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who works for those who wait for him. 5 You meet those who gladly do right, those who remember you in your ways. But you were angry, and we sinned; because you hid yourself we transgressed.

What Do We Expect?

When we go to church, do we expect anything? Do we expect God to show up in our worship services? The writer of Isaiah longed for God to come crashing down, interrupting our world, and making us pay attention. This writer wanted mountains to quake and nations to tremble because of the coming of the Lord. You can imagine that many of those returning were the children of those who left their homeland decades before. The children traveled to this place, hoping that what their parents said would be true. When they arrived, their hearts sank. Jerusalem was destroyed, and it would be a long time before it was restored if it happened at all. It’s at this point when the people feel miles away from God.

Think back to Advent a time of expectation, of waiting for the coming of Jesus and the cry of Isaiah’s message of hope to a dying world. As we live in a time of uncertainty, our expectation must be God, come and shape us and shape our community. Like Jerusalem, our world is a mess. Things are not well. We wait for God to come and shake things up and change us for the better. We hope for the one who makes mountains quake and nations shake in fear that this God will come and form us as disciples and bearers of good news.

Pray: God, quicken my resolve to wait on your divine timing.

Psalm 89:1-4

1 I will sing of your steadfast love, O Lord, forever; with my mouth I will proclaim your faithfulness to all generations. 2 I declare that your steadfast love is established forever; your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens. 3 You said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one; I have sworn to my servant David: 4 ‘I will establish your descendants forever and build your throne for all generations.’” Selah

The Promise of Steadfast Love

God’s love and faithfulness belong together. They “go before” God. These are the characteristics of a covenant-making and covenant-keeping God. Because God is always loving and faithful, we will sing and declare God’s praise forever. Confidence in God’s character carries us through trial and despair. Instead of “Name it and claim it theology,” our desire must be more like “Know God and become like God theology.”

More than two centuries after David’s reign, Isaiah prophesied that another King, sitting on David’s throne, would bear the weight of the government upon his shoulders and reign forevermore (Isaiah 9:67). That is the very promise the angel Gabriel gave to Mary. But, at that time (and this!), these are the precise promises of God that seem to have failed. The exile jeopardized the line of David and destroyed his throne. Today, we often interpret the delay of Christ’s return as an admission of failure. The remedy is to sing God’s promises when their fulfillment seems bleak.

When we are declining and on the brink of giving in, we should look beyond our circumstances and confidently declare God’s steadfast love and faithfulness. Remember, God’s promises will never fail!

Pray: God, thank you for your steadfast love and faithfulness.

James 1:19-20

You must understand this, my beloved brothers and sisters: let everyone be quick to listen, slow to speak, slow to anger, 20 for human anger does not produce God’s righteousness

Calm Down

If we are honest with ourselves, we all know that the real battles of life are inside, not outside. What we are on the inside matters more than what happens on the outside. James wants us to discover the freedom that comes when we respond the right way to the pressures of life. Knowing the difference comes from a maturing wisdom that begins when we listen more and talk less. There is a time to speak and a time to be silent. Most of us are better at the former and not so good at the latter.

James is not saying don’t get angry. That’s unrealistic. We’re all going to get angry from time to time, but we have control over our responses. That control is not the responsibility of others, but it falls to us to monitor our internal controls. James is asking us to calm down.

Pray: God, help me remain responsible for my emotional responses today.

Romans 8:28

We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose.

It’sAll Good

It is hard to imagine "good" when you have suffered greatly. When we minister to people who have suffered a tragedy and seem to have no hope in the situation, this text tells us three ways that God gives us hope in suffering.

What God started, God will finish. The "good” of Romans 8 is God making you a better you...like Christ! God gives you hope for the day that suffering will be swallowed up in something greater. In a world of consistent pain and suffering, we can hold on to this hope for life.

Pray: God, thank you that in the midst of the pain of suffering, there is still hope.

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Get Your Priorities Straight

This text is part of what is known as Jesus’ Sermon On The Mount. The call today is to get our priorities in order by putting God first in our lives. In this part of His sermon Jesus drives home his point which says, “do not worry, but instead, seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

Seek the kingdom of God first! Seek the rule and reign of Christ on the throne of your heart. Seek to know Christ, seek to know His will for our lives and obey it. We tend to seek and put before God everything imaginable and all of them only last for a little while.

Anything that is not adding to your spiritual growth is hindering it and affecting your relationship with God’s purpose for your life. It is not enough to just seek God, but we must seek God first. Until we put God first in our lives, we will never be satisfied. We can shop and buy all we want, we can take one vacation after another, we can seek one career after another, we can do this and we can do that, but we will still be empty and find our self still needing more and more stuff

We will never know the full reward of obedience until we put God first Where does God fit in your life? Is God first? If not, who is?"

Pray: God, help me to put you first in my life.

Honoring God Through Taxes

Paying taxes is often viewed as a mundane duty, yet as Christians, we're called to approach it with a spirit of obedience and integrity. Jesus' words remind us of our responsibility to fulfill our civic duties while also recognizing our higher allegiance to God.

Taxes support the functioning of society, providing resources for essential services and infrastructure. By contributing our fair share, we participate in promoting justice and welfare for all. Moreover, our attitude toward taxes reflects our commitment to stewardship and honesty in all areas of life.

Let us pay our taxes faithfully, not grudgingly, but with an understanding that it is part of our contribution to the greater good. In doing so, we honor both our earthly authorities and our heavenly Father, demonstrating our commitment to live as lights in the world.

Pray: God, help me to honor my “in the world” responsibility in a manner that demonstrates my “not of the world” experience.

Acts 27:23-24

23 For last night there stood by me an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I worship, 24 and he said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul; you must stand before the emperor, and, indeed, God has granted safety to all those who are sailing with you.’

God’s God My Back

Time and time again God reminded Paul of God’s presence, no doubt when Paul needed it the most. God knows what we need, and God knows when we need it. God knew when Paul could use that extra assurance.

Likewise, take heart in the face of danger or uncertainty because of your awareness of God's presence with you. When your heart sinks, when it seems as though your life is falling apart, you must remember the Lord is there with you. You are not alone. No, there are not always easy answers. But we can be sure of this: God will be with us through the storm.

God was standing by Paul's side, and God is with us in our storms as well. God may not necessarily send an angel. We may not necessarily hear an audible voice. But if we pay attention, we can hear the still, small voice of God. And certainly, God will speak to us through God’s word. Then we, like Paul, can reassure others that God is in control.

Pray: God, thank you for your watchful eye over my life.

Guarding the heart involves nurturing it with God's truth and love. It means being mindful of the influences we allow into our lives and protecting against bitterness, envy, and pride. When our hearts are aligned with God's will, our words and deeds reflect God’s character.

Let us heed the wisdom of Proverbs and prioritize the protection of our hearts. Through prayer, Scripture, and fellowship with believers, may we cultivate hearts that overflow with love, joy, and righteousness, bringing glory to God in all we do.

Colossians 3:12

Therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.

Compassion is the heartbeat of the Christian life, reflecting God's boundless love for humanity. Just as Christ showed compassion to the broken and marginalized, we are called to embody God’s love in our interactions with others.

In Colossians, we're reminded that as God's chosen ones, compassion should be as natural to us as putting on clothing. It's an integral part of our identity as followers of Christ. Through acts of kindness, empathy, and understanding, we extend God's grace to those around us, illuminating God’s love in a world often darkened by suffering.

Embrace compassion as both a privilege and a responsibility and seek opportunities to demonstrate Christ's love in tangible ways today. As we clothe ourselves with compassion, we reflect the heart of our Savior to a hurting world in desperate need of God’s healing touch.

Psalm 103:2-3

2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget all his benefits 3 who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases

Healing through God’s Grace

Psalm 103:2

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and do not forget all his benefits

Counting God’s Benefits

In the busyness of life, it's easy to overlook the countless blessings God bestows upon us. Yet, the Psalmist urges us to remember and praise God for God’s benefits. From the air we breathe to the grace that sustains us, every good thing comes from God’s hand. Reflecting on God’s goodness fills our hearts with gratitude and strengthens our faith.

Let us take a moment each day to count God’s benefits, for in doing so, we cultivate a spirit of thankfulness and draw closer to God, who lovingly provides for all our needs.

Pray: God, help me to appreciate the big and the small of life today.

Matthew 6:31-33

31 Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear?’ 32 For it is the gentiles who seek all these things, and indeed your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Trusting God’s Provision in Financial Struggle

When faced with financial struggles, it's easy to succumb to worry and fear. However, Jesus reminds us of the Father's loving care and provision. As believers, our priority is to seek God's kingdom and righteousness above all else.

Rather than fixating on our material needs, let us trust in God's promise to provide for us. God knows our needs even before we ask, and God is faithful to meet them. By placing our trust in God, we can rest assured that God will supply all that we require.

In times of financial strain, may we draw near to God, seeking God’s kingdom first and trusting in God’s unfailing provision for our every need.

Pray: God, increase my trust in your unfailing provision. Chat GPT Experience (Edited)

Matthew 6:34

So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring worries of its own. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

Why Should I Worry?

You can worry about what others think of you, or you can work in the service of your highest and best vision. You can worry and be afraid, and by so doing you’ll give power and substance to your fears. Or you can choose to be bold and live each moment in freedom and fulfillment.

Whatever you’re worried about, your worry will get you nowhere. When you feel the urge to worry about life, use that energy instead to live it fully, and reap its many magnificent rewards.

Pray: God, remind me that when I start to worry, you are greater than anything I face.

Psalm 139:14

I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well.

Overcoming Insecurity through God’s Love

Insecurity can plague our hearts, whispering lies about our worth and identity. Yet, God's Word reminds us of our inherent value as God’s creation. Psalm 139 beautifully declares that we are fearfully and wonderfully made by the hands of our loving Creator.

When we struggle with feelings of insecurity, let us meditate on this truth: we are precious in God's sight. God knit us together in our mother's womb, intricately designing every part of us. Our worth is not determined by human standards but by the unconditional love of our Heavenly Father.

As we internalize this truth, may we find confidence and assurance in God's perfect love for us. Let God’s affirmation silence the voices of doubt, empowering us to walk boldly in the identity God has given us.

Pray: God, help me to hear your voice that emboldens me.
