ABOUT THE MT. VERNON SWINGIN' STANGS

The Mount Vernon Swingin' Stangs are having one of the best years in in school history. The band received it's 10th consecutive Division 1 ratings at State Jazz Festival this year. The Swingin' Stangs received 1st place at the Lisbon Jazz Festival and also placed 4th at the prestigious Tallcorn Jazz Festival at UNI. 

ABOUT JEN TIEDE

 Jen Tiede teaches at her alma mater, Linn-Mar High School in Marion, where she directs The Colton Center Jazz Ensemble at Linn-Mar as well as Symphony Band and Studio Jazz Band. She attended the University of Northern Iowa has her Master of Arts from the University of St. Thomas. 

She is also member of the Iowa Women’s Jazz Orchestra and also performs in the Iowa Jazz Composer’s Orchestra as well as at her church. She is an executive board member of the Jazz Educators of Iowa, extending her work in jazz education to the entire state.
