National Sankirtan Festival Bhaktivedanta Manor hosted this years national sankirtan festival to celebrate the wonderful selfless efforts of devotees who took part in the Srila Prabhupada Book Distribution Marathon

during December. Devotees from all over the UK gathered for an ecstatic morning of celebration and appreciation. Thanks to the intense endeavor of the devotees of ISKCON London we took second position in the national scores, trailing Bhaktivedanta Manor by a small number of books.

Sivarama Swami Visits London
We were extremely fortunate to have the association of His Holiness Sivarama Swami, Madhava prabhu and devotees from far and wide.
ISKCON London started the new year in grand fashion with an afternoon of ecstatic kirtan.
The temple room was vibrating with the sounds of the Lord’s holy name and devotees swayed in deep emotional bliss.

Yamuna devi dasi

In December the devotee community received the very sad news of the passing of Yamuna devi dasi.
Known for her beautiful voice, Mother Yamuna’s Govindam prayers are played in every ISKCON centre during deity greeting.
A memorial service was held for Mother Yamuna at Bhaktivedanta Manor. Mother Yamuna was one of Srila Prabhupada’s earliest and very dear disciples and was one of the pioneers who established ISKCON London, giving

Youth Preaching
KC Lounge
The youth preaching activities of ISKCON London continued with undiminished vigour into the new year. The main highlights are outlined below.
This month the KC Lounge sessions discussed a range of topics. These included Happiness from the Gita Sutras sessions, Doomsday 2012, Doubts in spiritual life and discussions from the Bhagavad Gita.
University Preaching
In addition, we also held another of the increasing popular open Q&A sessions.
The university oriented activities focus on the two streams of Gita Sutras discussion events and vegetarian cooking workshops. The Gita Sutras events this month explored topics such as Happiness, Dreams & Illusions and The Modes of Material Nature.
In addition, some of the boys were also invited to join the brahmacaris in preparing the Sunday feast as a means to further inspire the attendees and strengthen relationships outside of the KC Lounge confines.
These sessions are being facilitated at both the School of Asian and African Studies (SOAS) and Imperial University, and continue to draw in a varied and vibrant crowd of students.
The vegetarian cooking workshops remain a healthy attraction at SOAS, and have also now been officially launched at Imperial University, where they are proving to be similarly successful. The recipes enjoyed this month include for example healthy and quick tofu stir fry, chilli paneer and fancy rice.

2012 Olympic Games This coming summer the Olympic games will be held in London and ISKCON London’s very own Sachi Kishore dasa will also be getting involved.

He has be appointment to the illustrious post of official Hindu co-chaplain for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in London. In this capacity Sachi Kishore dasa will provide spiritual and emotional support and counsel to Olympic athletes on the international stage.

Outreach During the month of January Jai Nitai dasa carried out the following outreach activities: 1st: Gave the Sunday Feast Lecture 7th: Annual General and UK Meeting Council meetings at Bhaktivedanta Manor 8th: Attended the National Sankirtana festival at Bhaktivedanta Manor 13th: Conducted a house program with the Dattani family. There were 30 guests in attendance. 20th: Attended a program and gave a talk organised by Dr. Joy Phillipou to celebrate Dr. Phillipou being awarded an OBE. 27th: Attended UK Management Council meetings in Leicester. 30th: Conducted a program for trainee religious studies teachers from Kings College. This has been a regular event over the last year and is organised by Alexis Stones, a tutor at Kings College.
