Studio brief: To design a URBAN HAAT for Gujarat tourism, Vadodara Muncipal Corporation (VMC) and Vadodara Urban Development Authority (VUDA). It provides an ambience of a traditional village market for contemprary needs. It provides a mix of craft, food and cultural activities.
It is not just a market place, it has been visualized as a showpiece of traditional Indian culture - a forum where rural life and folk art are bought closer to an urban business. It provides encouragement to needy artists and serves as an outlet center for them. A small food court which brings a variety of cuisines of different states together.
Design process: Had worked on many case studies such as Dilli Haat INA, Delhi, Dilli Haat Janakpuri, Delhi, Fun Food Batallion, Ahmedabd. Worked on a detailed live case study at Ahmedabd’s Amdavad Haat Vastrapur. Main focus on studying different haat’s was to understand about hierarchy inplanning, circulation, services, features, spatial form analysis, built & un-built spaces and landscape.

As requirements of designing the office was simple yet complex in a way, the client required a design based on their party logo lotus a modern day design which resembles the office. As it also required an approval of vastu- shastra as client were commited believer on it.

As design consisted of basement, ground floor, first floor, mezzanine and terrace plan out of which basment consisted of exhibition gallery, dinning area and kitchen with car parking on the othe side.
Other features such as offices, reception, private chambers and conference room are located at ground floor whereas auditorium and stage is at first floor for any kind of function going on and a small auditorium if required at a time on mezzanine floor connected with terrace.
NOTE: As there are many such projects I had worked on in my training period such as Hotel deisgn at Mt. Abu, combined project of School, Landscape, Community hall and Interpretation centre at Patan and a Housing design at Ahmedabad. However this was one of my favourite projects with a kind of uniqeness within it.
