Jay Sawyer of Glenview IL says that as society has the highest interest in preventing murder, it should use the strongest punishment available to deter murder and i.e. Death Penalty. He says that as execution is the ultimate, irrevocable punishment, the risk of executing an innocent person can never be eliminated. It is the ultimate denial of human rights when implemented. The death penalty can execute someone who is possibly innocent. Also there is no credible evidence that the death penalty deters crime more effectively than a prison term.
