a Martial Arts Origins: An Introduction
Although martial arts are commonly studied for various reasons, they share a single objective: To defeat a person or defend oneself from a physical threat. Some of these origins include Buddhism, Shinto, and other religions. Martial arts are also associated with East Asian cultures. Although some of these are linked to specific religious or spiritual beliefs, others are not. Throughout Europe, there was a variety of combat martial arts that were known as Historical European martial arts. They are being reconstructed and are being used by various organizations. One of these is Savate, which was a French style of kicking that was developed by street fighters and sailors. In the Americas, Native Americans hold a tradition of open-hand martial arts, which includes various forms of wrestling.
