46TH ANNUAL
2025 HARTFORD & NEW HAVEN
AWARDS CEREMONY & DINNER
Recognizing business and community leaders who have made significant contributions to the prosperity and the strength of our communities.
Tuesday, April 1, 2025 | 5:30 PM Hartford Marriott Downtown
Forty-six years ago, Junior Achievement established the Business Hall of Fame to recognize current and past business and community leaders who have made distinguished contributions to the history and prosperity of our region.
This year’s outstanding honorees exemplify the meaning of success and the richness of giving back to their communities. By their example, they inspire thousands of children in our state to strive for greatness. Each of our honorees brings special meaning to the mission of Junior Achievement: to empower young people to own their future economic success.
Junior Achievement is grateful to all who have supported this event through their volunteerism, their personal and corporate funding, and through their presence here this evening.
Thank you all for your support of Junior Achievement.

Liberty Bank’s ‘Be Community Kind’ tagline “is more than just our marketing brand. It’s the highest standard we set for ourselves when it comes to improving lives in our communities,” explains CEO David W. Glidden. “What better way to kick off this historic year than with our most recent record-breaking results in corporate and charitable giving, volunteerism and investments in community development.”
Established 200 years ago, Liberty Bank is the nation’s oldest and largest independent mutual bank. With over $8.0 billion in assets, Liberty has 56 banking offices across Connecticut. As a full-service financial institution, Liberty offers consumer and commercial banking, cash management, home mortgages, business loans, insurance and investment services, and has earned designation as Best-In-State Bank in Connecticut by Forbes Magazine.
Named a ‘Top Workplace’ by the Hartford Courant every year since 2012, Liberty Bank teammates logged 15,928 hours in volunteerism with 631 organizations in 2024, with every employee participating. Liberty Bank invested approximately $2.7 million in corporate sponsorships, donations and initiatives with more than 400 community organizations. The Liberty Bank Foundation awarded 141 grants totaling nearly $2.1 million, assisting thousands of lower-to-moderate income children and families in education and training, affordable housing, and food security - Liberty’s highest dollar amount awarded in a single year.
The Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana story began in 1925 when Italian immigrant Frank Pepe, alongside his wife Filomena, opened a small pizzeria on Wooster Street in New Haven. With a coalfired brick oven, a perfected dough recipe, and an unwavering commitment to quality, they created what would become the legendary New Haven-style apizza (pronounced "ah-beetz").
Filomena worked alongside Frank, helping to manage the business while raising their family. Their signature tomato pie - made with crushed Italian tomatoes, grated Pecorino Romano, and olive oil - was the foundation for what would become one of the nation’s most celebrated pizzerias.
For decades, Frank and Filomena’s daughters, Elizabeth and Serafina, carried on their parents’ vision, running every aspect of the business and preserving the traditions that made the pizzeria so beloved. Today, it remains family-owned, with their grandchildren - Anthony, Francis, Lisa, Bernadette, Genevieve, Jennifer, and the late Gary - continuing the legacy and overseeing the company’s growth from a single location into a nationally recognized institution with 17 locations across seven states. Each pizzeria is built around a replica of Frank Pepe’s original coal-fired brick oven, ensuring every pizza maintains the same signature quality. Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana is a family-owned business, “deeply committed to our craft, our people, and the communities we serve.”
