Dear JA Friends,
Together, we're empowering the next generation of leaders, innovators, and changemakers!
Imagine this: A classroom buzzing with energy, filled with young minds bursting with potential and dreams for a brighter future. This is the heart of Junior Achievement of Southern California, where every day, we ignite a spark that empowers the next generation.
Turn the pages of our 2022-2023 annual report and celebrate the incredible impact we've made together. We served nearly 40,000 students, and with renewed optimism, we're poised for growth.
We work diligently to ensure the return of in-classroom programs: a surge of volunteer opportunities marking victory over adversity and a reaffirmation of our commitment to hands-on learning – the cornerstone of the JA experience.
We're also thrilled to introduce JA Inspire: a groundbreaking program that helps students explore career paths aligned with their passions, connecting them with industry professionals. We take immense pride in shaping the workforce of tomorrow and empowering students to pursue their dreams confidently.
Deep gratitude goes to philanthropist Mackenzie Scott for her remarkable $1.3 million unrestricted gift. This historic contribution reflects her belief in our mission and fuels bold innovation. This gift inspires us to dismantle barriers and empower children towards economic mobility.
JA Worldwide's second consecutive Nobel Peace Prize nomination in two years is a testament to the global impact of Junior Achievement. It reaffirms our commitment to fostering peace and prosperity through education and entrepreneurship.
As we close this successful chapter, my deepest thanks go to each of you. You've invested in the possibilities for the young people we serve. Together, we're empowering the next generation of leaders, innovators, and changemakers. I'm excited to continue this journey with you!
Warmest Regards,

Financial Literacy:
Developing financial independence
JA’s hands-on, role-playing financial-literacy programs expose young people to smart saving and investing, thoughtful spending and credit, the role of taxes, the value of employment and community involvement, and the opportunities for global trade. We prepare young people for lifelong financial health.
Work Readiness:
Preparing youth for the jobs of the future
JA’s immersive, volunteer-led work-readiness programs teach critical work skills that prepare young people for college, trade school, or the workforce. Whether job shadowing mentors, testing their skills through digital experiences, or developing solutions during business challenges, JA students are prepared for the future of work.
Entrepreneurship: Cultivating an entrepreneurial mindset
Through JA’s real-world entrepreneurship programs—the longest-running in the world—students ignite their entrepreneurial spirit by developing an innovative product or service, financing their startup, marketing their product or service, and launching their careers as entrepreneurs or intrapreneur.

Today, we had a Junior Achievement field trip, and it was really cool. Before, I didn't know about budgeting or how much things like gas costs, but after this experience of being an adult and seeing how much things cost every month, seeing the difference between my gross income and net income, it was very cool. It was a great experience and I learned a lot about money!"
- Student participant of JA SoCal Finance Park
TEACHER
JA Finance Park gives students a picture of real-world financial challenges and issues and gives them some experience in figuring out real-world answers to these issues. They will not only realize how much the world costs but also be better prepared for some of their potential and future financial challenges. Thank you so much for this program. I teach some of these concepts in class, but it means so much more when they get hands-on experience.”
