Jared Clarke, co-founder of Forza Resources in Fort Worth, Texas, shares how the state balances its oil heritage with a growing focus on renewables, highlighting the need for fresh ideas in this evolving field
Oil discovery in Texas in the early 1900s marked a turning point for the state, with cities like Houston and Midland experiencing explosive growth due to the industry Now, Texas continues to lead U S oil production, driving economic gains and job creation However, the state isn’t solely reliant on fossil fuels anymore As global demand for clean energy grows, Texas has diversified its energy portfolio, particularly excelling in wind and solar Texas is the top producer of wind energy in the country and is expanding solar production, especially in West Texas, where sunny conditions are optimal for solar farms

As the world shifts towards renewable energy, moving away from fossil fuels isn’t simple Texas is leading in carbon capture and storage (CCS) technology, which helps reduce emissions from power plants and factories This technology is important because we still rely on fossil fuels, and CCS allows oil and gas operations to be more environmentally friendly
Clarke explains that Texas companies and research groups are working to make CCS more practical “The technology shows promise but is still expensive,” he says “For it to work, we need big investments in infrastructure ” Texas is committed to CCS, aiming to stay a key player in energy while cutting down on environmental impact especially as clean energy demands and regulations grow
Texas is balancing its traditional oil industry with the increasing demand for renewable energy Leaders like Jared Clarke are helping guide this change Through his work at Forza Resources, Clarke emphasizes the importance of innovation and sustainability By adopting new technologies like carbon capture, Texas aims to stay at the forefront of the global energy market while moving toward a more sustainable future
Our diversity in energy sources from oil to wind has buffered us from market fluctuations Now, as clean energy becomes essential, this adaptability will be more important than ever.
