Efficiency and effectiveness can directly determine your success rate The difference between efficiency and effectiveness, do you ever think about it? In fact, it’s a huge difference. In today’s fast-moving Internet environment, it’s more important than ever to know how to maximize your efficiency and effectiveness.

On the Internet, there are tons of articles about efficiency, like this one that I love. However, it’s not so easy to find articles dealing with effectiveness and efficiency as an integrated process for the best results.

To be able to optimize your efficiency and effectiveness, you must first get it clear what’s the difference between the two. In an earlier article, we went through the gap between efficiency and effectiveness.

Efficiency: doing things right Let’s say that Eliud Kipchoge, the fastest marathon runner in the world, comes to the Olympic Games, and lining up for the 100-meter flat race. Do you think he will qualify for the next race? Probably not?

He may be the fastest marathon runner in the world, but has nothing to do in a 100-meter race on an elite level. He is not doing the right thing.

How often does it happen to you that you are working around the clock, but you don’t get the results you’re expecting? Take a look and figure out if you’re doing the right thing.

To optimize your efficiency and effectiveness, you need to understand the effectiveness before putting in much efficiency.

As always, my favorite blogger, James Clear, has an interesting approach to the topic of effectiveness and efficiency.

Efficiency and Effectiveness – the Same but Different

After a hard day’s work with the feeling that not much has been achieved, it can be due to a lack of both efficiency and effectiveness or only one of the two.

If both are essential, what does then come first?

The classical anecdote about if the chicken or the egg comes first, deals with more or less the same dilemma.

Thus, effectiveness is very much connected to the goal of your mission. If you have your mission well defined, it shouldn’t cause you any problem to check whenever you want, if you’re on the right track or not.

As mentioned in the video, seven working blocks of 25 minutes each and 20 minutes of rest in between will give you a total working day of 5 hours. According to some sources, productive working time is the same for the average worker at work 8 hours a day.
