Categories in which races will take part include the Silvercup, Inex Legends, Midvaal Historics, Formula Monoposto, Sabat Lotus Challenge, Big Boss Auto Super Saloons, Bridgestone BMW Club Race Series and Yokohama Modified Production Cars. “The most exciting aspect is probably the rash of new, young competitors in Super Saloons. One would naturally suggest that Devin Robertson, having arrived with enormous impact on Class GTA in The Big Boss Corvette has inspired a rash of competitors to follow him,” says Nino of Midvaal Raceway.

Children treated to stationery packs MEYERTON. - Smiles were seen amongst children of Boitumelo Informal Settlements on January 20 as they received stationery packs to help them in school. Cllr Peter Teixira, MMC of Development, Planning and Housing of Midvaal Local Municipality was joined by Ms Gillian van der Westhuizen to hand over the stationery packs. This warm visit forms part of the municipality’s ‘Back to School Programme.’ This initiative was a collaborative effort with the NGO Angels of Hope which shared the vision of seeing the alleviation and combating of poverty in our society. MEYERTON. - Die kranige atlete van Hoërskool Dr. Malan het die rekords laat spat tydens ‘n atletiekbyeenkoms op 20 Januarie. Skole wat aan die byeenkoms deelgeneem het is Potchefstroom Gimnasium, Hoërskool Linden en Hoërskool Alberton. Dit was die eerste tuisbyeenkoms van drie byeenkomste wat by die skool gehou word. Amoné Nel (o.14) het die rekord in die 90m- en 300m hekkies-items verbeter, terwyl Geena Taljaard (o.19) die rekord in die verspring en driesprong items gebreek het. Ryan Pieterse (o.17) het ‘n rekordsprong in die item vir driesprong behaal. Langasem Maritske Rautenbach (o.14) het die rekord in die 1 500m verbeter en Charlize Swanepoel (o.19) in onderskeidelik die 100- en 200m-items. Rolmodel maak skool nog lekkerder vir Barrage Primary VANDERBIJLPARK. - Chané-Leigh du Plooy, Model van die Jaar 2016 by Chantenique Afronding- en Modelskool en ‘n graad 11-leerling aan Hoërskool Transvalia, het verlede jaar ‘n “terug skool toe”-projek aangepak vir verspreiding van skryfbehoeftes onder skole in die gebied. Sy het die ingesamelde artikels onlangs aan Barrage Primary School geskenk, waar sy die skoolhoof, mnr. Moeletsi

Ndhlovu, sy personeel en kinders van die skool ontmoet het. Charné het heerlik saam met die personeel en kleingoed gekuier en die kleintjies ook met lekkergoed bederf. Barrage Primary School het ‘n mobiele klaskamer in die vorm van ‘n bus wat tussen verskillende gebiede ry, waar personeel dan klas gee aan 2- tot 4-jariges. Hulle het ook n kombuis wat elke dag aan die ongeveer 300 leerlinge ‘n bord gekookte kos voorsien. ‘n

Dié feesgeleentheid begin op 25 Februarie om 09:00 met ‘n heerlike basaar, waar gesinne heerlike eetgoed sal kan geniet en die kinders groot pret gaan hê wanneer die gesiggies ingekleur en ander vermaaklike aktiwiteite aangebied word. As jy van boeklees of pannekoek hou, of sommer net lekker wil koffie drink, kan jy gerus kom saamkuier, maar bring gerus ‘n sakkie geld saam, want daar gaan verskeie winskopies by die wit-olifanttafels en

VANDERBIJLPARK. - Chané-Leigh du Plooy, Model van die Jaar 2016 by Chantenique Afronding- en Modelskool en ‘n graad 11leerling aan Hoërskool Transvalia, het verlede jaar ‘n “terug skool toe”-projek aangepak vir verspreiding van skryfbehoeftes onder skole in die gebied. Sy het die ingesamelde artikels onlangs aan Barrage Primary School geskenk, waar sy die skoolhoof, mnr. Moeletsi Ndhlovu, sy personeel en kinders van die skool ontmoet het. Charné het heerlik saam met die personeel en kleingoed gekuier en die kleintjies ook met lekkergoed bederf. Barrage Primary School het ‘n

mobiele klaskamer in die vorm van ‘n bus wat tussen verskillende gebiede ry, waar personeel dan klas gee aan 2- tot 4-jariges. Hulle het ook n kombuis wat elke dag aan die ongeveer 300 leerlinge ‘n bord gekookte kos voorsien. ‘n Kliniek is ook onlangs op die skoolterrein begin om die kinders en die gemeenskap te bedien, aangesien die mobiele kliniekdienste deur die staat gestaak is. Chané-Leigh wil graag vir mnr. Ndhlovu, die personeel en kinders bedank vir die tyd wat hulle aan haar afgestaan het en die hartlikheid waarmee sy ontvang is. Sy bedank ook graag almal wat ‘n bydrae tot haar projek gemaak het.

MEYERTON. - “What to do when feeling blue?” is the first book of the series, to be launched firstly in South Africa.
