Themansionwasbuiltin1840toreplacetheonebuiltinthe early18thcentury.Thecentralparthasagableroofandthere areseveraladjacentbuildings.Theoldslaveclockstillhangs onthesouthernterrace Themansionisnamedafterthe 18th-centuryslavemasterJanKok

Fromtheterraceyoulookoutoverthesaltpansof St.MarieBay,whereflamingocoloniescolorthelandscape. Theplantation,whichis345hectaresinsize,wasasalt plantation,althoughtherewerealsocultivatedcropstobe foundandcattlebreedingwasdone Around1860therewerestill100slavesworkinghere.

PLANTATION HOUSE KNIP (KENEPA)

Plantation house Knip is named after the fruit of the Kenepa tree. The country house dates from the beginning of the 18th century.
