Although Bill has already achieved his own atonement, he is stuck in Level 2, the atonement zone, a type of purgatory, as a trainer. He needs to get his last assignee, Jim, to beg for forgiveness for his sins down below on earth. He is sending Jim back down again with orders to protect 2 preteen 'misfits' from imminent harm at all costs. He will be getting help from another section of the atonement zone.
