CoffeeCle Artist Colony Ipoh is one of the oldest and wealthy heritage town in Malaysia for its tin mining industry history during the Bristish Colonial period. The surrounding gathered 70% population of chinese from China who worked as a tin miner. With the influences of western coffee drinking habit, the local has emerged and create their own local taste of coffee. Hence, CoffeeCle Artist Colony helps to promote the famous coffee in Ipoh to all visitors in Ipoh, at the same time also to show the society the beauty of coffee arts.

CoffeeCle Artist Colony is a place where it gathers artists from all around the world to live and work together. The design of this building is of layers of building blocks that built up. It representing that artist from different places gather and work together. Art is always without limits and boundary. Therefore, gathering artist from all around the world can as well gather the story or creativity of the artists, then produces into another piece of art that is of a higher level.

Program

The purpose of incorporating coffee in this artist colony is to preserve the history of the coffee so that it will be reminded off by the people all the times and same goes to the purpose of incorporating with bicycle.

Artist whom comes from other countries, they can share the history behind their coffee and also at the same time, they can know more about others country’s one as well. As the government is helding the project of cycling at ipoh oldtown, it gave the advantage to promote it widely.

Connection between building and river The building not just standing on alone, it is also designed to link to the existing river. Artist may bring along their sketch book and do sketching by the river. Visitors also may walk along the river to enjoy the scenery there.

Kosovo war began.

Nato fough for albanian- kosovars.

When albanian returned, was forced violently, with contious attack and threats to leave the zone.

Concept 2008

2017

Kosovan Parliament declared the independence of Republic of Kosovo.

Today, the situation i the region is still unstable.

Memory is an ability that allows the human being to retian and remember facts and events of the past.

Rights inherent in all human beings, without distinction of place of residence, sex, ethnic origin, colour, religion, language or any othet status.

The 3 thematic triangular blocks reveal tthe chronological moments of Kosovo in the past till now, from a small and not independent to now an independent country. The empowerment of space that allow not only congregate, but also to accommodate the stories.

Form: The equilateral triangle is the geometric figure that being stable, equality, has a strong association with power, religion and tension.

The Place: Kosovo region is the country that gone through wars that fought for own independent.

Space/Tour: The main entrance is formed by the sloping leading from the main accessible way from both side of the building.Then through the central atrium, it distributes the way to where the programs are located. The atrium is considered as a public square covered where there are also temporary exhibitions and information, then it goes up to Level 1 where the public - private mixed use programs are placed.

Lastly, the underground volume corresponds to the administrative area of the project.

Urban Infill Food Market Site Jalan Gereja, Kuala Lumpur Project area : 2000sqm

The surrounding site context act as a big issue when designing the building. The context restrained the site to be sandwich in between the commercial building. A food market is proposed as to solved the surrounding illegal stalls and allow a more variety choice of meal to create the communities life more interesting. Foods that are selling in the market are mostly local food, for example Indian style, Malay style and Chinese style. Besides, it can also act as a landmark to attract more people like tourists to come over. The permeability through all the opening and arcs in the shops in Jalan Tun HS Lee create a sense of perforation which prove the building design style during the colonial era. While designing food market, the building is open conne cted to the back alley allow user from the back can access to the building.

Perforation concept is not only to preserve the antiquity of the architectural style but also to reduce crime risk in the back alley. This enhance the safety of the street also to welcome the user to the building.

As surrounding of Jalan Tun Hs Lee is suffocating with concrete surface, I’m proposing green wall to my building. It gives building a sense of uniqueness; also it can draw public attention. The skyline of the whole elevation was remained so that it still preserve the essence of HS Lee. All the louvres are laid vertically so that it keeps contact with the outside at the same time having privacy indoor.

URBAN VERTICAL PARK a park which consist of 8 different stages Ignorance in people is considered the slowing process of human progress. My research is based on a narrative story, Journey to The West, which tells a story of a journey to attain enlightenment in the Buddhahood. The whole story is told through by relating with the logic of The Noble Eightfold Path. In my master thesis, my focus is to translate the principles and spaces from the story of my research to create a new typology of public spaces. The main purpose of these spaces is to encourage people to slow down, rest and enjoy. Enlightenment does not mean that one gets Nirvana once they achieve all the teachings, but to slowly get self-relax more and have balance in life. Technically, my program is a series of public spaces, based on the logic of the path of enlightenment, and they consist of eight stages. The religious elements of my research story will be eliminated and substituted with spaces and thoughts of human nature so that it approaches everyone. This interwoven space and program will be a kind of methodology in the architecture realm to create a new typology of a public park for people in Berlin.

Researches „Ignorance“

A story about a bunch of blindfolded people trying to describe an elephant. „Each of them decribed it differently:the first one said it was like a serpent; the second like a fan; the third like a wall; the fourth like a tree;“ All of them was right from their own perspective, but none of them was able to describe it correctly, not knowing the whole picture. That is ignorance, where this shouldn‘t be happening to the society nowadays.

„Enlightenment“ DEFINITION „The acts or means of enlightening; the state of being enlightened Buddhism: a final blessed state marked by the absence of desire or suffering“

The Buddhism Teachings It is a guide, a directions.The truth of the teachings is not in blind belief, it is a guide to reducing suffering and leading to enlightenment. We only can learn this through practices.

Researched novel „JOURNEY TO THE WEST“ It is a Chinese novel published in the 16th century during the Ming dynasty, author named Wu Cheng‘en.

It is one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature.

Novel Summary:-

This novel is about the legendary pilgrimage of Tang dynasty Buddhist monk Tang Tripitaka who travel to the western region, which is the central Asia and India, to obtain Buddhist scripture and returned after 81obstacles and much suffering. The reason for attaining this scripture is to get the knowledge back to the people in the native land for their enlightenment.

According to the mythology, the Gautama Buddha (founder of Buddhism) gave this task to Tripitaka and provided him with three protectors. They agreed to serve him along the way in order to atone for their sins in their past lives. Throughout the journey, the three brave disciples have to fend off attacks on Tripitaka from various monsters and calamities.

Lastly, after 19years of the journey, they return journey to the Tang Empire and the aftermath is each of all the traveler received a reward in the form of posts in the bureaucracy of the heavens. They attained Nirvana.

The novel symbolizing an internal journey to enlightenment. The whole story is told through by relating to the logic of The Noble Eightfold Path. It is one of the main thing in the buddhist teachings which teaches people the way to enlightenment.

The program proposed is a series of public spaces. By relating to the noble eightfold path, 8 parts of the related gist from the novel was extracted to translate into architecture space. Each of the spaces is correspondent to one of the spaces in the novel and one of the rights of the path.
