“My real name is Alberto Diaz Gutierrez. This surname is extremely common in Cuba and in those days the most popular photographic products were Kodak’s. I also saw an English film directed by the Korda brothers, Alexander and Zoltan. I thought the surname Korda sounded like Kodak so I named the studio after them and it worked. It was easy for the art directors and advertising agencies to remember that there was a studio called Korda” (Alberto Korda, p. 428)
