387 Johnson (Lionel). Poems, 1st edition, [printed at the Chiswick Press], London & Boston, 1895, author’s signed presentation inscription to front free endpaper, ‘To Dr [John] Todhunter with kind regards from Lionel Johnson, 1895’, and six manuscript corrections by the author on pp. 6, 40, 41, 93, 95 & 103, all correcting spelling of individual words except the last inserting a whole line, ‘To gather in the fruit of summer days,’, partly uncut, original blue-grey boards, spine lettered in blue, some slight browning and soiling particularly on spine, small chip with loss at head of spine, 8vo The first issue comprised 25 copies numbered and inscribed by Johnson. This second issue of 750 unnumbered regular copies is rarely found with presentation inscriptions and authorial manuscript corrections. Dr John Todhunter (1839-1916) was an Irish poet and playwright who was involved in the founding of the Irish Literary Society in London after he had settled there. (1) £500 - £700
