Identification is based on the anatomy lectures corresponding to those in Main’s manuscripts (sold separately here). The surgical lectures correspond to those recorded by Dr Wilkinson in the London Medial Gazette, 23, 1838 (original copy provided), each starting with the fatal case of mastectomy. Cline was a pupil of Hunter and Astley Cooper was his apprentice. Though the greatest figure of his time at St. Thomas’s Hospital, he never published his lectures. These indexed sheets could be intended for this purpose. (1) £1000-1500
