Piranesi (Giovanni Battista), Pianta di Roma E Del Campo Marzo, [1774 or later], uncoloured etched plan of Rome, printed on three sheets (as published), old folds, 1140 x 700mm Prominently dedicated to Pope Clement XIV, Piranesi’s plan of Rome acted as a reference point for his ‘Vedute di Roma’. The map is surrounded by lists of major monuments with a number which allocates them to a particular volume or work. The main map is ‘modern’ with a smaller inset map which shows the major anitiquities and numbers them so that they correspond to the larger map. (1) £300-500
