Intern Magazine

Alec Dudson (Intern Magazine) One Day Workshop Group: Beth, Victoria, Samson, J’nae, Jordan and I. Brief: To come up with an original concept and front cover design for a new independent magazine. Concept: The subject of the magazine are communities & people living off the grid & outside mainstream culture. Focus on their stories, why they chose to live outside of society, how they built their new lives & how they maintain this lifestyle. A Journalistic, documentary approach to articles, focus on the people, their stories and use of striking imagery will be used. Audience: The ‘Off The Grid’ consumer is one who appreciates the earth we live on and taste for adventure. They spend their days growing their own produce or look for ways of incorporating a DIY aspects into their own lifestyle. Aesthetic: Focus on hand made / hand rendered style of design and production methods. Such as; Using recycled paper stock for the pages of the magazine, hand stitching to bind the publication together, Hand drawn grainy type used for the logo and also in spreads. Strategy: A similar video campaign to vice would be used to give the audience a different viewing platform to engage with. The magazine would work in tandem with National Geographic. The Nat Geo would sponsor Off The Grid and in return Nat geo will be advertised in ‘Off The Grid’. Lifespan: Published Bi-Annually
