We are thrilled that you are here to celebrate this milestone with us. The theme of this banquet is “Walang Hanggang Paglilingkod." In Tagalog, “Walang Hanggan” means boundless, endless, and eternal; while “Paglilingkod” means service. Since its inception in 1989, PCH was driven by one goal: to serve, uplift, and build community. That's what we celebrate today- the spirit of "Eternal Service" that PCH has engendered in us all.
We wouldn’t have made it this far if not for the work of our founder Dr. Arnel Reyes and the alumni whose shoulders we stand on; the present members who have kept the passion for community engagement aflame; and the future generations that will carry this torch of service to build a legacy of their own. We're here to celebrate achievements from this year (the first year of full in-person programming since the start of the pandemic), stronger relationships with our amazing community partners, and the sense of family and togetherness that PCH has come to symbolize.
As we celebrate PCH's spirit of "Eternal Service," we also recognize the importance of giving back to our homeland. This banquet is a fundraiser for our annual Medical Mission in the Philippines. All of the proceeds from this event will go towards providing free medical services to the community of Barangay Pisa, General Nakar, Quezon Philippines.
Maraming salamat, po! You are the reason PCH is what it is!
Karen Madamba, Nicki Añel, Urielle GutierrezThe Medical Outreach (MO)
Component of PCH organizes the annual medical mission in the Philippines. We aim to serve underserved communities in remote areas by providing basic health care services such as dental, surgical, and health check-ups. This coming July, in collaboration with University of the Philippines
Ugnayan ng Pahinungod (The Oblation Corps) and Kiday Community Farmers Association, MO is serving the residents of Barangay Pisa in General Nakar, Quezon Province, a low-income agricultural community that is greatly affected by typhoons every year. General Nakar has a population of 30,000 people but only has one health center and 14 village health stations. Furthermore, Brgy. Pisa is situated remotely, about forty minutes away from the center of the municipality and rural health unit. Therefore, these two factors, among other social, political and economic factors, limit the residents of Brgy. Pisa from gaining access to basic health care services, resulting in poor health outcomes that are prevalent within the community.
To help underserved communities such as Brgy. Pisa, the MO component organized multiple fundraisers throughout the school year and, more recently, launched our GoFundMe campaign to raise money for medical supplies, medicines, dental kits and programming during the medical mission. We hope that you can make a donation to help our cause. Any contribution you can give toward this effort is greatly appreciated!
