Two legendary figures passed away recently leaving a void that will be felt by literally millions of fans.
I was honored to know Cuba Gooding Sr and his family personally for more than 20 years. Cuba was the lead singer for the 70’s R&B group, “The Main Ingredient” and a consummate performer. I last spoke with Cuba last July prior to his show with the Emotions and Stylistics at the Long Beach Terrace Theater.

We talked about politics, our history and how excited he was about shows The Main Ingredient performed in the Caribbean. He also talked about mentoring young artist about the entertainment industry. Cuba was found slumped over in his Jaguar in Woodland Hills, Ca.
Another mentor and friend was Adolph Dulan, the legendary restaurateur and owner of “The Soul Food Kitchen” in Inglewood, Ca. and founder of the world famous, :Aunt Kizzy’s Backporch in Marina Del Rey, California.

Adolph was a prominent figure in Southern California. Known for his suave appearance and generosity, Adolph was always willing to help anyone who came to him.
I met Adolph prior to the opening of Aunt Kizzy’s and was blessed by his wisdom and knowledge. Any time I called on him, he never declined an invitation to speak for me or supply the food. Adolph Dulan died of natural causes according to one of the staffers at the Soul food Kitchen.
