Investing in the future When Greg and Christine Parseghian enrolled their sons at JMU, the couple discovered a place that Greg Jr. and Alex love — and a program worthy of their investment: Valley Scholars. Greg, an entrepreneur and former CEO of Freddie Mac, knows that every good investor looks for low risk and high reward. Valley Scholars offered both. “Because the program begins in eighth grade, students are well prepared and likely to succeed at JMU and beyond,” Greg says. “Valley Scholars will have a high impact on the lives of local students and a ripple effect within families and throughout the community. A great outcome would be that 20 years from now, a much higher proportion of students from this area will go to college.”
