The mojo magazine double page spread (DPS) is very effective as it includes many different conventions you would see in a successful magazine. From the dominant image to the placement of the text, all the aspects within this magazine are very eye appealing and effective, making it a pleasurable and enjoyable to read.
The secondary images tie the DPS together really effectively as they are images related with the ‘Hollywood vampire’, this give the reader more visual information about the ever so famous club that is being described. All the images are very dark, however vibrant in their ‘contrasts’ making it clear and bold.
The headline and dominant image work very effectively together within this DPS, mainly because of the colour schemes. The headline is very eye catching to the reader as it is presented in 3 different colours ,and it has a 3D effect added to it, this signifies the importance of the headline as no other typeface within the DPS has been given a 3D effect. The colour white, yellow and red have been added to the headline, white because it contrasts with the dark tones of the dominant image (which make it stand out more), and yellow and red because they are the main colours used within the magazines house style.
The whole DPS is very informal which helps the reader relate to it, however at the beginning of the article there is a drop capital giving it formal elements. The drop capital also helps the reader find a staring place to read.
Here there is also a secondary image of Alice Cooper which bleeds into the side bar which contains the text of the article. This connotes that his was a big part of the Hollywood Vampires as he is embedded next to the text.
The dominant image within this DPS is very effective as it covers both the pages, and shows old classic artists at the ‘hollywood vampires’ club. The image is very iconic so it will attract more readers as they will recogonise the artists and the club they are on. The dominant image is a wide angle shot and is at eye level with the artists, this is very effective as it makes the reader feel apart of the story, it really helps as some of the artists are looking right into the lens, this will make the reader feel more like an individual as it is as if they are being addressed by the artists.
