Compass Algebra Accuplacer(CPT) Course Placement 66-100 41-55 75-100 MAT-161/MAT-171 *DMA 060, 070, & 080 are required only for MAT-161/MAT-171 MULTIPLE MEASURES FOR PLACEMENT James Sprunt Community College implemented the NCCCS Multiple Measures for Placement Policy, which uses high school transcript GPA (grade point average) and/or standardized test scores to determine course placement beginning with students enrolling in Fall semester, 2015. Within this policy, there are multiple factors that determine students’ readiness for college-level courses. A recent high school graduate who meets the GPA benchmark will be exempt from diagnostic placement testing and will be considered “college ready” for gateway math and English courses. Unweighted GPA = or >2.6 And Four High School Math Courses*

Student is college ready for any gateway math course and any course that has a DMA prerequisite. Student is college ready for any English course up to and including English 111 and any course that has a DRE prerequisite. College will evaluate subject-area ACT or SAT scores to determine if student is college ready in math and English using the following scores: English: ACT score: Reading 22 OR ACT English 18 SAT score: Writing 500 OR SAT (Prior to March 2016): Reading or Writing 500 SAT (March 2016 or after): Reading or Writing 480 36
