n order to investigate the rising problem of overusing Artificial Intelligence or using ChatGPT as an aid for class outputs, the Orkid Synergy scribes conducted a survey regarding the use of AI in the school environment.

According to the survey, it was found that 52.94% of the students in the Grade VII Science, Technology, and Engineering class use AI platforms. "When I use AI, I always make sure to use my own words in order to not depend on the AI model," said Leanne Cortado, a student of Class Orchid. Elaize Gupong, a student from Class Iris, added that the use of these artificial models was only to acquire additional data, not to cheat on tests intended to assess students' learning capabilities. “I highly recommend the STE class to use it [AI] to develop existing concepts—not to rely on it, but to build upon the concepts provided by the model,” Ms. JC May Fernandez stated.

Mrs. Analyn N. Arances, class advisor of Class Orchid, suggested that students should learn to regulate their use and dependence on gadgets, using AI as a helpful tool to build on their ideas, rather than allowing them to depend on it. Additionally, she emphasized that activities should improve the reading and language skills of learners, which must be developed without AI dependence. “In my opinion, the primary intent of using AI in learning should be to gain ideas directly on the spot, addressing the limited time given for these activities,” said Lloyd Mendoza. As technology evolves in the education sector, the Department of Education is still seeking solutions to address this technological challenge.
