pred vama je drugi broj magazina Jadrolinija kojim vaše putovanje – plovite li prema jednom od jadranskih odredišta trajektom ili katamaranom – želimo učiniti što ugodnijim, zabavnijim i informativnijim. Ulaskom u brod pridružujete se našoj velikoj obitelji, milijunima putnika iz cijeloga svijeta koji odmor provode na Jadranskom moru. Mi ponosno kažemo u najljepšem zaljevu Sredozemlja. To je prigoda da vas upoznamo s nekim možda manje poznatim pojedinostima složenog sustava plovidbe, s ljudima koji se kao i brodovi katkad hrvaju, a katkad sljubljuju s morem koje je odredilo njihov način života. Pomorska smo zemlja, u kojoj Jadrolinija, najveća brodarska kompanija, ima važnu ulogu u razvoju turizma, povezivanju obale i otoka i brizi za otočno stanovništvo.
Na početku smo turističke sezone, koja se zahuktava upravo u ovo doba godine, uoči uskrsnih blagdana, a pripreme u Jadroliniji nikad ne prestaju. Iza nas je jedna od najtežih godina u gotovo 80-godišnjoj povijesti tvrtke osnovane 20. siječnja 1947. u Rijeci. Obilježena je tragedijom na Malom Lošinju, u kojoj su 11. kolovoza 2024. godine, pri padu pramčane rampe na trajektu Lastovo, smrtno stradala tri člana posade, a jedan je teško ozlijeđen. Tragičan događaj duboko je potresao cijelu Hrvatsku, a najviše obitelji stradalih i više od 2000 zaposlenika Jadrolinije. Stoga će lanjska godina ostati upamćena kao godina u kojoj je cijela tvrtka bila obavijena tugom zbog gubitka ljudskih života.

Welcome to the second edition of the Jadrolinija magazine, where we aim to make your journey – whether you’re traveling to one of the Adriatic destinations aboard a ferry or catamaran – as pleasant, entertaining, and informative as possible. By stepping aboard our ship, you join our great family of millions of passengers from around the world who spend their holidays on the Adriatic Sea. We proudly say it’s the most beautiful bay in the Mediterranean. This is an opportunity to introduce you to some perhaps lesser-known details of the complex maritime system, and to the people who, like the ship, sometimes wrestle with, and sometimes embrace, the sea that has defined their way of life. We are a maritime nation, in which Jadrolinija, the largest shipping company, plays an important role in tourism development, connecting the coast and islands, and caring for the island population.

Gubitak ljudskih života nenadoknadiv je, a utvrđivanje uzroka nesreće i posljedice koje slijede – kakve god bile – ne mogu umanjiti tragediju. Mogu biti samo snažan motiv i upozorenje na povećan oprez i konstantno unaprjeđenje k boljem i sigurnijem pomorskom prijevozu.
Ploviti se mora pa i onda kad je najteže. To bi mogao potvrditi Ivan Čapalija, zapovjednik trajekta Marjan, koji je po olujnom nevremenu, s brodom punim djece, sigurnim i vještim manevrom uspio pristati u luku Supetar. Mogli bi to potvrditi i dugogodišnji zaposlenici Jadrolinije Keti Giljević i Antun Obradović koji su otišli u zasluženu mirovinu, ali i radno aktivni zaposlenici Jadrolinije, mnogobrojni zapovjednici i posade koji svaki dan odgovorno obavljaju svoju zadaću. Jednako tako i svi sudionici manifestacije „Trag u beskraju” kojom se svake godine na trajektu Jadrolinije i u Veloj Luci podsjeća na velikana hrvatske glazbe Olivera Dragojevića.
Turisti koji nisu iskusili sve blagodati putovanja na Jadrolinijinim međunarodnim linijama, zacijelo će poželjeti ploviti trajektima Marko Polo i Dalmacija koji povezuju hrvatsku, crnogorsku i talijansku obalu. Ne samo zbog ugodne plovidbe nego i zbog izvrsne gastronomije i drugih pogodnosti. Ali nećemo vam otkriti sve pojedinosti, jer o svemu tome možete čitati u ovom novom broju. Čitati se, kao i ploviti, mora, zato uživajte u svakom retku Jadrolinija magazina.
year, just before the Easter holidays, and preparations at Jadrolinija never stop. Behind us is one of the toughest years in the nearly 80-year history of the company, founded on January 20, 1947, in Rijeka. It was marked by the tragedy in Mali Lošinj, when on August 11, 2024, the bow ramp of the Lastovo ferry collapsed, resulting in the death of three crew members and one being seriously injured. This tragic event deeply shook all of Croatia, especially the families of the victims and more than 2,000 Jadrolinija employees. Therefore, last year will be remembered as the year when the entire company was wrapped in sorrow due to the loss of human lives.
The loss of human life is irreplaceable, and determining the cause of the accident and the consequences that follow – whatever they may be – cannot diminish the tragedy. They can only serve as a strong motivator and a warning to exercise greater caution and constant improvement towards better and safer maritime transport.
The journey must continue, even when it is at its most difficult. This could be confirmed by Ivan Čapalija, captain of the Marjan ferry, who, during a fierce storm, with a ship full of children, managed to safely and skillfully dock in the port of Supetar. Long-serving Jadrolinija employees Keti Giljević and Antun Obradović, who retired, could attest to this, as could the active employees of Jadrolinija, the many captains and crews who carry out their duties responsibly every day. Equally so, all the participants in the "Trag u beskraju" event, which annually honors the great Croatian musician Oliver Dragojević aboard a Jadrolinija ferry and in Vela Luka.
Tourists who haven’t yet experienced all the benefits of traveling aboard Jadrolinija’s international routes will surely want to sail on the Marko Polo and Dalmacija ferries, which connect the Croatian, Montenegrin, and Italian coasts. Not only for the pleasant journey, but also for the excellent gastronomy and other amenities. But we won’t reveal all the details here, as you can read all about it in this new edition. Just as reading should be enjoyed, so should sailing – so, enjoy every line of the Jadrolinija magazine.

Pedesetih godina prošlog stoljeća u Jadroliniji se razmišljalo o obogaćivanju komercijalne ponude novim sadržajima i započelo je istraživanje tržišta višednevnih kružnih putovanja. Prvi brodovi na takvim su putovanjima bili Partizanka i Proleterka, a na prvu se plovidbu, koja je trajala 14 dana, krenulo 28. ožujka 1953. Isplovilo se iz Venecije, a kružna plovidba obuhvaćala je niz hrvatskih otoka i sezala sve do grčke obale.
Turističke agencije ubrzo su uspostavile uspješnu suradnju s Jadrolinijom pa se ponuda počela širiti i obogaćivati. Već 1956. godine na kružna su putovanja isplovljavali brodovi Jadran, Jedinstvo i Jugoslavija. Održavanje redovitih veza s našim otocima i u to je doba bio prioritet pa su se kružna putovanja organizirala u proljetnom i jesenskom razdoblju. U vrijeme ljetne sezone sve su Jadrolinijine plovidbene snage bile usmjerene na zadovoljavanje potreba povećanog turističkog prometa prema hrvatskim otocima.

While Jadrolinija’s primary mission is connecting Croatia’s islands with the mainland, international navigation remains an important part of its operations, now focused on connecting cities along the Adriatic coast.
S povećanjem broja brodova koji su zadovoljavali kriterije kružnih putovanja povećao se i broj odredišta uvrštenih u red plovidbe. Uspostavljena je suradnja s turističkim agencijama iz Francuske, Njemačke i Velike Britanije. U sljedećem desetljeću floti su pridružena još dva, za to doba luksuzna putnička broda – Istra i Dalmacija. Neka od zanimljivih odredišta bili su Egipat, Libanon, Izrael, Grčka, Karibi pa čak i Skandinavija. Ponuda na brodu bila je raznovrsna i bogata, a posada se brinula o svakoj pojedinosti koja pridonosi zadovoljstvu putnika. Uz stručna predavanja o odredištima prema kojima su brodovi plovili, putnici su uživali u gastronomskoj ponudi brodskih kuhara, relaksiranju u bazenima, zabavi u kasinu i u drugim sadržajima prilagođenim potrebama ondašnjeg tržišta.

In the 1950s, Jadrolinija explored ways to expand its commercial offerings by venturing into multi-day cruise voyages. The first ships to embark on such journeys were Partizanka and Proleterka, setting sail on their inaugural 14-day voyage on March 28, 1953. Departing from Venice, this circular voyage included numerous Croatian islands and extended all the way to Greek coast.
Tour operators quickly established successful partnerships with Jadrolinija, leading to an expanded and enriched travel offering. By 1956, the passenger vessels Jadran, Jedinstvo, and Jugoslavija were also cruising these waters. However, maintaining

poseban ogranak kompanije, nazvan Jadrolinija Cruises. Uspješno poslovanje nastavilo se i osamdesetih godina, kad je posebno za potrebe kružnih putovanja nabavljen putnički brod Adriana. Plovidba na Jadrolinijinim kruzerima dobivala je najviše ocjene putnika, a zapovjednike i posadu tih brodova nazivali su ambasadorima hrvatskog turizma.
Ipak, izložena sve većoj međunarodnoj konkurenciji, usredotočenoj na tu vrstu ponude, Jadrolinija Cruises nije više mogla ići ukorak sa zahtjevima vremena i moćnijim kompanijama s golemim kruzerima. Luksuzni putnički brodovi poput Istre, Dalmacije i Adriane prodani su međunarodnim poslovnim partnerima, a Jadrolinija se usredotočila na lokalne linije i na nabavu flote koja može zadovoljavati rastuće potrebe hrvatskog turizma. Ukidanjem tvrtke Jadrolinija Cruises program međunarodne plovidbe ipak se nije posve ugasio.
Iako su drugi kontinenti i daleka egzotična odredišta dio slavne prošlosti Jadrolinije, međunarodna plovidba nastavila se na kraćim relacijama, velikim trajektima poput Marka Pola i prestižne Dalmacije, koji su udovoljavali potrebama sve zahtjevnijeg tržišta. Jadrolinija danas održava međunarodne linije s Italijom i Crnom Gorom, povezujući Dubrovnik s Barijem, Split i Zadar s Anconom te crnogorski Bar s talijanskim Barijem. Te linije omogućuju
regular ferry connections to Croatian islands remained a top priority, so these cruises were mainly scheduled in spring and autumn. During the peak summer season, Jadrolinija's fleet was fully dedicated to accommodating the growing tourist demand for island travel.
As more ships met the criteria for circular cruises, the list of destinations expanded. Jadrolinija partnered with tour operators from France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, and in the following decade, two more luxurious passenger vessels—Istra and Dalmacija—joined the fleet. The company’s travel offering extended to exotic destinations such as Egypt, Lebanon, Israel, Greece, the Caribbean, and even Scandinavia. Onboard, passengers enjoyed diverse and high-quality amenities, with the crew ensuring every detail contributed to a first-class experience. Besides expert lectures on destinations, guests indulged in gourmet cuisine prepared by onboard chefs, relaxed in swimming pools, and enjoyed casino entertainment and other services tailored to the demands of the time.

1980s, introducing the passenger vessel Adriana, specially acquired for cruise travel. Passengers consistently rated their experiences highly, and captains and crew were often referred to as ambassadors of Croatian tourism.
However, facing increasing competition from international cruise operating massive luxury liners, Jadrolinija Cruises struggled to keep pace with the evolving market. Luxury passenger vessels like Istra, Dalmacija, and Adriana were sold to international business partners, and Jadrolinija refocused back on local ferry services, investing in vessels that could support Croatia’s growing tourism sector. The closure of company Jadrolinija Cruises did not, however, mark the end of the company’s international sailing routes.
Although long lasting voyages to distant continents became part of Jadrolinija’s storied past, its international services continued with shorter routes using large passenger ferries like Marko Polo and the prestigious Dalmacija, catering the needs of the travel market. Today, Jadrolinija operates international routes to Italy and Montenegro, connecting Dubrovnik with Bari, Split and Zadar with Ancona, and Montenegro’s port of Bar with Bari. These routes offer domestic and international travelers a comfortable journey with refined service and Jadrolinija’s signature hospitality. Many passengers appreciate the advantage of covering long distances aboard a spacious car ferry, allowing them to bring their own vehicles for convenience upon arrival. With a variety of onboard amenities, travelers often wish the voyage would last even longer so they could fully enjoy the serene maritime atmosphere and stunning sea views.
The Marko Polo ferry joined Jadrolinija’s white fleet in 1973 and remains one of the longest-serving vessels in its international service. 128 meters in length, it accommodates over 1,000 passengers and 270 vehicles, offering comfortable cabins, a restaurant, bars, and a souvenir shop. Raznovrsnost sadržaja omogućuje im da brzu plovidbu između dviju obala Jadrana provedu u ugodi i zabavi. Brod trenutno povezuje Dubrovnik i Bari te crnogorsku luku Bar s talijanskim Barijem. S dolaskom broda Dalmacija u flotu otvorila se mogućnost ponovnog povezivanja s crnogorskom obalom, linijom koja je već pokazala izvrsne rezultate, a čiji se početak očekuje u srpnju 2025. godine. Kombinacija bogate tradicije i iskustva te prilagodba modernim zahtjevima tržišta omogućila je Jadroliniji da i danas bude ugledna i prepoznatljiva brodarska tvrtka kad je riječ o međunarodnoj plovidbi. Unatoč mnogim izazovima i promjenama, tijekom desetljeća uspješno je očuvala svoju nazočnost na međunarodnim linijama, prilagođujući se suvremenim potrebama putnika. S obzirom na neprestana ulaganja u flotu i unapređenje ponude, na obzoru Jadrolinijina poslovanja u međunarodnoj plovidbi naslućuju se nove mogućnosti. ~

The modern Dalmacija is the successor to its esteemed predecessor, joining Jadrolinija’s fleet in spring 2024. Passengers can enjoy a range of facilities, including two restaurants, two bars, a gaming area, a children's playroom, and open-air decks. This variety of onboard entertainment allows travelers to make the most of their swift voyage between the Adriatic coasts. The vessel currently connects Dubrovnik and Bari, as well as Montenegro’s port of Bar with Bari. With the arrival of Dalmacija in the fleet, Jadrolinija has reopened the connection with Montenegrin coast, which has already shown excellent results. The official relaunch of this service is scheduled for July 2025.
By combining a rich maritime tradition with adaptability to modern market demands, Jadrolinija has maintained its status as a reputable and recognizable shipping company in international navigation. Despite various challenges and market changes, the company has successfully preserved its presence on international routes, continuously evolving to meet the needs of today’s travelers. With ongoing investments in its fleet and service improvements, new opportunities for international navigation appear on the horizon for Jadrolinija. ~
Kao važna sastavnica hrvatskog turizma, Jadrolinija sudjeluje na mnogim turističkim sajmovima na kojima uspostavlja suradnju s poslovnim partnerima, a putnicima predstavlja svoju raznovrsnu ponudu
Predstavljanjem na međunarodnim turističkim sajmovima – na kojima već godinama sudjeluje –Jadrolinija nastoji sklopiti nova partnerstva s turoperatorima i agencijama, ali i predstaviti svoju ponudu mnogim zainteresiranim putnicima. Turistički sajmovi izvrsna su prilika za produbljivanje postojećih veza, ali i sklapanje novih. Jadrolinija svoje usluge na sajmovima predstavlja u sklopu štanda Hrvatske turističke zajednice, zajedno s drugim izlagačima – hotelijerima, turističkim zajednicama, nacionalnim parkovima, itd. Svojom raznovrsnom ponudom Hrvatska je jedno od najprivlačnijih turističkih odredišta.
Ovogodišnja sajamska predstavljanja posebno su važna uoči turističke sezone. Godina je započela sudjelovanjem na sajmu Ferien-Messe Wien 2025, najvećoj turističkoj manifestaciji u Austriji, posvećenoj odmoru, putovanjima i slobodnom vremenu. Na sajmu se mnogo se govorilo o održivom turizmu i digitalizaciji putovanja. Jadrolinija je istaknula važnost svog položaja u ostvarivanju izvrsnih rezultata cjelokupnog hrvatskog turizma i predstavila svoju ponudu međunarodnih i domaćih linija.
As a key player in Croatian tourism, Jadrolinija takes part in numerous tourism fairs, establishing partnerships with industry professionals and showcasing its diverse offers to passengers.
By participating in international tourism fairs—an endeavor it has pursued for years—Jadrolinija sets its course toward new partnerships with tour operators and agencies while also presenting its services to many interested passengers. These fairs provide an excellent opportunity to strengthen existing ties and anchoring fresh collaborations. Jadrolinija exhibits at these events under the banner of the Croatian National Tourist Board, alongside other exhibitors such as hoteliers, local tourism boards, and national parks. With its diverse offerings, Croatia remains one of the most attractive tourist destinations.
This year’s fair event is particularly significant in preparation for the upcoming tourist season. The journey began with participation in Ferien-Messe Wien 2025, Austria’s largest tourism event dedicated to travel, leisure, and holidays. Sustainable tourism and

Sljedeća postaja bio je sajam f.re.e München 2025, najveći bavarski međunarodni sajam turizma. Ove je godine sajam, na kojem je sudjelovalo 900 izlagača iz više od 50 zemalja, razgledalo više od 160 000 posjetitelja, najviše dosad. Govorilo se o aktivnom turizmu, kampiranju i održivim putovanjima. Slijedom tih trendova Hrvatska je jedno od omiljenih odredišta njemačkih turista. Jadrolinija je privukla velik broj posjetitelja, s obzirom na to da ime hrvatskog nacionalnog brodara njemačkim putnicima nije ni strano ni nepoznato. Sudjelovanje na sajmovima prilika je i za posebne akcije. Tako su na sajmu u Münchenu popusti za brodska putovanja na međunarodnim linijama izazvali veliko zanimanje posjetitelja.

the digitalization of travel were key topics at the fair. Jadrolinija highlighted its vital role in securing exceptional results for Croatian tourism, while showcasing its extensive network of domestic and international routes.
The next stop was f.re.e München 2025, Bavaria’s premier international tourism fair. This year’s edition welcomed 900 exhibitors from over 50 countries and saw a record-breaking 160,000 visitors. U veljači je Jadrolinija sudjelovala i na sajmu BTM Bari 2025 u Italiji, koji se ubrzano razvija i postaje sve važniji za turizam južne Europe. Fokus sajma bio je na inovativnim pristupima putovanjima i jačanju suradnje između mediteranskih odredišta. Jadrolinija je, u sklopu tog važnog poslovnog događaja, predstavila brodske linije koje već godinama povezuju hrvatsku i talijansku obalu. Kada je riječ o talijanskom tržištu, važan je svakako i BMT sajam u Napulju, na kojemu se Jadrolinija već niz godina tradicionalno predstavlja.
Početkom ožujka, u Berlinu je održan prestižni sajam ITB Berlin 2025, jedan od najvažnijih B2B događaja u svijetu turizma. Glavne teme ovogodišnjeg sajma bile su održivost, digitalna transformacija i inovacije u turističkom sektoru.
Nakon ljetne turističke sezone, u listopadu 2025. Jadrolinija će tradicionalno sudjelovati i na sajmu TTG Travel Experience 2025 u Riminiju, najvećem talijanskom turističkom sajmu za poslovnu publiku. Sajam okuplja putničke agencije, turoperatore i druge profesionalce iz turističke industrije, a ovogodišnje teme uključuju digitalizaciju turističkih usluga, održiva putovanja i personalizirana iskustva za putnike. Na turističkim sajmovima u Italiji putnici su najviše zainteresirani za međunarodnu plovidbu. Tijekom prošle godine najviše zanimanja izazvala je plovidba brodom Dalmacija.
Sajmovi su prije svega poslovna događanja, a izlagači imaju priliku predstaviti se posjetiteljima i kao mjesta zabave, gastronomskih atrakcija, nagradnih igara i specijalnih popusta. Jadrolinija na sajmovima širu javnost često uveseljava maskotom Barbe, osobito obožavanog među najmlađim posjetiteljima. Na brodu su bila djeca koja su na njemu prespavala prethodnu noć jer se zbog orkanske bure nije moglo isploviti. Sutradan je iskusni zapovjednik Ivan Čapalija uspješno pristao u Supetru
Despite unfavorable weather conditions, the ferry Marjan departed from Split to Supetar on January 13. Onboard were children who had spent the previous night on the ferry due to the hurricane-force bora wind preventing departure. The next day, experienced captain Ivan Čapalija successfully docked in Supetar.
Tog ponedjeljka, 13. siječnja, udari bure dosezali su 150 kilometara na sat. Posljednji brod na trajektnoj liniji Split – Supetar, s deset dnevnih polazaka, isplovio je iz Splita prema Supetru dan prije, u nedjelju u 14.15 sati.
U popodnevnim satima na trajekt su stigla tri autobusa djece iz NK Jadran, koja su se vraćala s nogometnog turnira u Sarajevu. Nisu ni slutili da ih čeka pustolovina života koju će zauvijek pamtiti. Kako bura ni tijekom dana nije jenjavala treneri, djeca i ostali putnici morali su prespavati na trajektu.
Posada je, kao i inače, bila pravi domaćin. Djeci su ponudili tople napitke, volonteri Crvenog križa donijeli su pokrivače, a stigla je i omiljena poslastica svih dječjih druženja – pizza. Mladi sportaši NK Jadran sigurno su među rijetkima koji su imali priliku noć provesti u takvom brodskom smještaju. Drugo jutro iznenađenja su se nastavila – djeca koja su provela noć na trajektu Marjan postala su prave „televizijske zvijezde“.
U ponedjeljak je smjenu na trajektu Marjan preuzeo zapovjednik Ivan Čapalija, iskusni pomorac zaposlen u Jadroliniji od 2001. godine. Na brodu ga je dočekao nesvakidašnji prizor. Djeca su još bila u pidžamama, kad su se počeli ukrcavati ostali putnici i vozila pa je u salonu zavladala gužva. Svi su htjeli što prije isploviti prema Supetru, ali je polazak u 7.45 sati zbog bure ipak otkazan.
U 11 sati zapovjednik je odlučio – isploviti se mora. Ni putnici ni opskrba otoka više ne mogu čekati. Takvu odluku može donijeti samo zapovjednik broda, na njemu je sva odgovornost. Brod je njegovo radno mjesto i njegov dom, a putnici njegova obitelj. Iskusni zapovjednik Čapalija odlučio je s koje će strane uploviti u supetarsku luku, vrlo nezgodnu za pristajanje po buri. Kako je u tome uspio pokazuju videosnimke koje će se još dugo pregledavati i prepričavati.
„Treba zahvaliti posadi i svima koji su se brinuli o djeci, ja sam samo radio svoj posao“, rekao je skromni zapovjednik i vrhunski profesionalac Ivan Čapalija. On Monday, January 13, the hurricane-force bora wind reached speeds of up to 150 kilometers per hour. The last ferry on the Split–Supetar route, which operates ten times a day, had departed the previous afternoon, on Sunday at 2:15 PM.
That afternoon, three buses carrying children from football club Jadran arrived at the ferry after returning from a football tournament in Sarajevo. They had no idea they were about to experience an adventure they would never forget. As the wind remained relentless, the children, their coaches, and other passengers had no choice but to spend the night aboard the ferry.
The crew, as always, showed great hospitality. They provided the children with hot drinks, Red Cross volunteers brought blankets, and soon the ultimate treat for any gathering of young people arrived—pizza. The young athletes of football club Jadran surely became part of a rare group that have spent the night in such an unusual shipboard accommodation.
The surprises continued the next morning—the children who had spent the night on Marjan suddenly found themselves in the media spotlight, becoming "TV stars."

On Monday, Captain Ivan Čapalija took over command of the ferry Marjan. An experienced seafarer and a member of Jadrolinija since 2001, he was greeted onboard by an unusual sight—children still in their pajamas, while other passengers and vehicles began to board, creating a crowded scene in the ferry’s lounge. Everyone was eager to depart for Supetar, but the scheduled 7:45 AM departure had to be canceled due to the strong wind.
At 11 AM, the captain made his decision—it was time to set sail. The passengers and the island's supply shipments could wait no longer. This decision rested solely on the captain, who bore full responsibility. The ship is both his workplace and his home, and the passengers his extended family. With years of experience, Captain Čapalija carefully chose the safest approach to the port of Supetar, notoriously difficult to dock at in such extreme conditions. His skillful maneuvering was captured on video, a recording that will be replayed and retold for years to come.
"We should thank the crew and everyone who took care of the children—I was just doing my job," said the humble yet highly professional captain, Ivan Čapalija.
Zapovjednik Čapalija tog je dana došao na radno mjesto i s posadom obavio posao kojim se bavi više od 20 godina i koji smatra svojom svakodnevicom. Putnici koji su proživjeli iskustvo pristajanja trajekta Marjan u Supetar pamtit će ga mnogo duže od zapovjednika Jadrolinijine bijele flote koji je uvijek spreman uhvatiti se ukoštac s morskim nepogodama.
Koordinatorica splitskog plovnog područja, Jelena Ivulić, u zadnjih desetak godina se ne sjeća ovakvog nevremena koje je na nekoliko dana prekinulo trajektne veze s otocima. Nakon što su tog ponedjeljka isplovile tek 2 od 10 trajektnih linija prema Supetru, promet se normalizirao tek sljedećeg jutra. Ništa lakše nije bilo ni posadi "Biokova" koja se također na liniji Split – Supetar borila s jakim vjetrom u plovidbi, a ni posadi „Hrvata“ na liniji Split – Rogač. O pristajanju trajekta Marjan u luku Supetar snimljen je video. Suvremena tehnologija pomaže da se dokumentiraju trenuci kojih je u pomorstvu bilo uvijek, ali nije bilo načina da ih se zabilježi osim u sjećanjima sudionika dramatičnih zbivanja na moru. Videozapis nije nastao zbog potrebe da se hvale pomorske vještine, nego kao podsjetnik na težak i izazovan život pomoraca koji su često u neravnopravnoj borbi s mnogo jačim prirodnim silama. To je i zapis o požrtvovnosti i odgovornosti koju pomorci osjećaju prema putnicima. Ali i prema otočnom stanovništvu, čiji život često ovisi o brodskim vezama. Jer život na otoku nije isti tijekom cijele godine niti onakav kakvim ga doživljavaju turisti.
Ljetna turistička sezona uvelike se razlikuje od zimskih mjeseci kad otok utone u svoj spokoj i živi mirno, lišen ljetnog turističkog šušura. Ipak, zima katkad donosi vremenske nepogode zbog kojih otočani mogu biti danima odsječeni od kopna. Tada sve ovisi o brodovima kojima upravljaju ljudi uvježbani da se bore s burom, jugom i morskim pijavicama. Pomorci katkad moraju biti jači i od mora i od vjetra.

He had no interest in showcasing spectacular "drifting" maneuvers, nor did he want the docking video to be featured on the evening news. He did not want his everyday work to be portrayed as a sensational event.
That day, Captain Čapalija came to work as usual, carried out his duties alongside his crew—something he has been doing for over 20 years—and considered it just another routine day. But for the passengers who experienced Marjan’s dramatic docking in Supetar, it will be a memory for a lifetime. Meanwhile, the captain of Jadrolinija’s white fleet remains always ready to face the challenges of the sea.
Jelena Ivulić, coordinator for the Split maritime area, does not recall such extreme weather conditions in the past decade, with ferry services to the islands completely suspended for several days. On that Monday, only 2 out of 10 scheduled ferries to Supetar were able to depart, and normal service resumed only the following morning. The crew of Biokovo, another ferry operating on the Split–Supetar route, also struggled against the fierce winds, as did the crew of Hrvat on the Split–Rogač route.
A video of Marjan’s docking in Supetar was recorded. Modern technology now allows such moments—once only preserved in the memories of those who lived through dramatic events at sea—to be documented and shared. However, the purpose of this video was not to glorify maritime skills but to serve as a testament to the demanding and challenging lives of seafarers, who often find themselves battling against far greater natural forces.
It is also a tribute to the dedication and responsibility that mariners feel—not only toward their passengers but also toward the islanders, whose lives often depend on maritime connections. Life on an island is not the same year-round, nor is it as tourists perceive it.
The summer tourist season is vastly different from the quiet winter months, when islands slip into tranquility, free from the summer hustle and bustle. However, winter can also bring severe storms, leaving islanders cut off from the mainland for days. During these times, everything depends on the ships operated by seafarers trained to battle the strong wind bora, the sirocco, and waterspouts.

Mnogi putnici, oslonjeni na ogradu trajekta i s pogledom na pučinu, pjevuše Oliverove stihove „Lipo li je, lipo li je...“ ili „More, more, more/ča je to u tebi/da te čovik više/od života voli“? Njegove pjesme i more neraskidivo su povezani, a posljednjih godina nastavljaju živjeti tijekom ljetnih putovanja, na palubama trajekata koji plove Jadranskim morem. Ipak, jedno se putovanje posebno ističe – glazbena plovidba iz Splita prema Oliverovoj rodnoj Veloj Luci uoči manifestacije „Trag u beskraju“.

Koncert se održava 29. srpnja, na dan kad je Oliver preminuo, a okuplja mnoge glazbenike i prijatelje koji izvode njegove svevremenske hitove. Manifestacija je otpočetka bila vrlo emotivan kulturno-glazbeni događaj, a privlači tisuće posjetitelja iz zemlje i inozemstva.

The "Trag u beskraju" event in Vela Luka, dedicated to the unforgettable Oliver Dragojević, celebrates his enormous and indelible contribution to Croatian music. This tradition began in 2019, on the first anniversary of Oliver’s passing, as an expression of respect and love for the artist whose songs evoked deep emotions in many of his admirers. A special part of this event is the memorial musical voyage towards the most musical island in the Mediterranean –Oliver’s birthplace, Korčula.
Many passengers, leaning against the railing of the ferry and gazing out at the open sea, hum Oliver’s lyrics "Lipo li je, lipo li je..." or "More, more, more/ča je to u tebi/da te čovik više/od života voli"? His songs and the sea are inseparably linked, and in recent years, they continue to live on during summer voyages aboard ferries sailing the Adriatic. However, one particular journey stands out – the musical voyage from Split to Oliver’s birthplace, Vela Luka, just before the "Trag u beskraju" event.
Tako je na koncertu 2024. godine bilo nekoliko desetaka tisuća ljudi koji su zajedno pjevali Oliverove pjesme, pokazujući koliko su one duboko u srcima obožavatelja.
Jedan od najposebnijih trenutaka dogodio se prve godine, kad su glazbenici na trajektu Korčula tijekom plovidbe prema Veloj Luci počeli spontano svirati na palubi. Taj je dirljivi trenutak prerastao u tradiciju pa se svake godine, na dan održavanja manifestacije „Trag u beskraju“, na trajektu koji plovi iz Splita prema Veloj Luci, organizira koncert u kojem uživaju putnici dok plove istim putem kojim je Oliver često putovao.
Linija prema Veloj Luci ima posebno značenje. Tog 31. srpnja 2018., Jadrolinijinim katamaranom Vida, Oliver je isplovio na svoje posljednje putovanje – na vječni počinak u rodnu Velu Luku.

The Split branch of the Croatian Musicians' Union played a key role in ensuring that a Jadrolinija ferry was named after the legendary musician Oliver Dragojević. This idea, successfully realized last spring, was met with enthusiasm by Oliver’s admirers and fans of his musical legacy.
How did this initiative come about, and why did you propose naming a ferry after Oliver?
There has long been a desire to pay tribute to artists like Oliver Dragojević, Zdenko Runjić, Jakša Fiamengo, and Momčilo Popadić, who have left an indelible mark on our cultural and musical heritage. When we learned that Jadrolinija was acquiring a new ferry to operate on the Split – Vela Luka route, the idea of naming the vessel after Oliver naturally emerged among friends, musicians, and fans of his music. Croatian Musicians' Union of Split officially submitted the proposal to Jadrolinija, which, to our great joy, accepted it. Oliver took his final voyage from Split to his beloved Vela Luka aboard a Jadrolinija catamaran, so naming a ferry after him carries deep symbolic significance.
What does Oliver Dragojević's music and artistry mean to you personally? Do you have a special memory?
Music is our way of life. I never planned a professional music career, but the beauty of music simply captivated me. Oliver was the perfect example of an artist who lived through his music, which was evident in every performance. We shared countless moments in the studio, sailed together through almost every cove and island, enjoyed fishing, and the beauty of our sea. I am proud

Što za vas osobno znači glazba i stvaralaštvo Olivera Dragojevića? Imate li neku posebnu uspomenu?
Glazba je naš način života. Nisam planirao profesionalni glazbeni put, ali ljepota glazbe jednostavno me obuzela. Oliver je bio pravi primjer umjetnika koji živi glazbu, što se osjetilo u svakoj njegovoj izvedbi. Dijelili smo mnoge trenutke u studiju, plovili zajedno gotovo svim našim uvalama i otocima, uživali u ribolovu i ljepotama našeg mora. Ponosan sam što je otpjevao moje pjesme „Bez tebe“ i „Ješka od ljubavi“, a posebno se veselim što smo snimili još nekoliko pjesama koje su objavljene nakon njegova odlaska, primjerice „Vrime je“, na kojoj sam surađivao s Marijanom Banom.
Kako su Oliverovi prijatelji i obitelj reagirali na to što je trajekt dobio njegovo ime?
Reakcije su od samog početka bile vrlo dojmljive. Nitko se nije ni najmanje protivio, što nas je dodatno motiviralo. Prije nego što smo inicijativu službeno predložili, obavijestio sam njegovu obitelj i dobio njihovu suglasnost. Posebno je važno i simbolično što brod povezuje Oliverova dva najdraža grada, Split i Velu Luku. Smatramo da ni jedan spomenik ili ulica ne bi bolje ovjekovječili Oliverovo ime od broda, jer on je bio istinski „čovik od mora“.

The reactions were overwhelmingly positive from the very beginning. No one opposed the idea, which motivated us even more. Before we officially proposed the initiative, I informed his family and received their full support. It is especially meaningful that this ferry connects Oliver’s two dearest places, Split and Vela Luka. We believe that no monument or street could honor Oliver’s name better than a vessel, as he was truly a "man of the sea."
The sea and sailing are common themes in Split's music scene. How important are these motifs to you personally?

More i plovidba česti su motivi na splitskoj glazbenoj sceni. Koliko su ti motivi važni vama osobno?
Oliver je bio morski vuk i svojim je pjesmama emotivno dirnuo sve naraštaje. Za života je ostavio neizbrisiv „trag u beskraju“, koji ne jenjava ni nakon njegova odlaska. Svi smo ponosni što smo ga poznavali. Svojim pjesmama kao da je postao dijelom naših obitelji. Svojim umjetničkim stvaralaštvom pridonio je oblikovanju kulturnog identiteta našeg naroda, osobito dalmatinskog podneblja, što je najuzvišenija ostavština. I dalje nam svima nedostaje – kao prijatelj, kolega i umjetnik. Nedostaju nam njegov smisao za humor i njegove pjesme, ali sretan sam i ponosan što sam imao priliku surađivati s njim.
Interijer trajekta Oliver uređen je u njegovu čast. Postoje li neki detalji u salonu koji su vam posebno dragi?
Dojmljivo je vidjeti slike i stihove Oliverovih pjesama u unutrašnjosti broda. To je svojevrsna oda našoj glazbenoj baštini i podsjetnik koliko cijenimo naše velikane. Posebno me dirnu stihovi pjesama kao što su „Brod u boci“, „Cesarica“ i „Kad mi dođeš ti“, koji me vraćaju u doba stvaranja tih pjesama i podsjećaju na drage ljude kojih više nema.
Skladatelj ste i glazbeni producent. Koliko su motivi mora i plovidbe utjecali na vaše stvaralaštvo?
More i pjesma i mene su oblikovali. More je naša sudbina i naše nadahnuće. Oliver je često govorio: „Ne dam nikom da nam dira naše more“.
Što HGU Split planira u 2025. godini?
Ove godine planiramo mnoge aktivnosti. U pripremi je dodjela nagrade Status u Splitu, kojom će biti nagrađeni najbolji glazbenici prema kategorijama instrumenata. Koncertima diljem Hrvatske obilježit ćemo i Svjetski dan glazbe 21. lipnja. HGU vodi brigu o svojim članovima pružajući im prostor za vježbanje, pravnu pomoć i mnoge druge vrste potpora potrebnih za njihovu profesionalnu djelatnost. Zahvaljujem svima koji su pomogli ostvarenju ideje da trajekt dobije ime Oliver, osobito ljudima iz Jadrolinije. Ovaj će brod ploviti kao podsjetnik na ono što nam je Oliver ostavio u nasljeđe, a on će zauvijek živjeti u našim srcima.

His artistic legacy contributed to shaping the cultural identity of our people, especially the Dalmatian region, which is the highest form of artistic heritage. We all miss him—as a friend, a colleague, and an artist. We miss his sense of humor and his songs, but I am grateful and proud to have had the opportunity to collaborate with him.
The interior of the Oliver ferry has been designed in his honor. Are there any details in the lounge that are particularly meaningful to you?
It is touching to see pictures and lyrics from Oliver's songs adorning the ferry's interior. It serves as an ode to our musical heritage and a reminder of how much we value our great artists. I am especially touched by the lyrics of songs such as "Brod u boci," "Cesarica," and "Kad mi dođeš ti," which transport me back to the time of their creation and remind me of dear people who are no longer with us.
As a composer and music producer, how have the themes of the sea and sailing influenced your work?
The sea and music have shaped me. The sea is our destiny and our inspiration. Oliver often said, "I won't let anyone touch our sea."
What are the Croatian Musicians' Union’s plans for 2025?
This year, we have many activities planned. We are preparing the Status Awards ceremony in Split, where the best musicians will be honored according to their respective instrument categories. We will also celebrate World Music Day on June 21 with concerts across Croatia. The Split branch of the Croatian Musicians' Union supports its members by providing rehearsal spaces, legal assistance, and various other forms of professional support. I would like to thank everyone who helped bring the idea of naming the ferry Oliver to life, especially the people from Jadrolinija. This vessel will sail as a reminder of the legacy that Oliver left us, and he will forever live in our hearts.

Zanimljivim reportažama o ljudima koji žive uz more ili na moru, HTV-ova mozaična informativna emisija „More" od svog osnutka 1982. privlači veliku pozornost gledatelja te je i danas, četrdeset i tri godine nakon prvog emitiranja, iznimno dobro prihvaćena među gledateljima. Temama i zanimljivostima za emisiju „More", ali i sudjelovanjem u njihovoj produkciji, važan su doprinos pružile posade i brodovi Jadrolinije. Zdravko Kleva, dugogodišnji urednik i reporter objašnjava zašto je emisija među najgledanijima na HTV-u.
Recite nam nešto o počecima emisije „More" i kako ste joj se pridružili?
Branislav Bimbašić, tadašnji urednik HTV centara Rijeka i Pula, programskom je kolegiju 1982. godine predstavio emisiju „Ljudi, more i obale". Kolegij je projekt ocijenio izvrsnim i prihvatio ga. Još kao student sa zanimanjem sam gledao te reportaže i ne sluteći da ću jednom sudjelovati u stvaranju programa. The Croatian Radiotelevision (HRT) program More is one of the longest-running mosaicinformational shows of the national broadcasting house, and longevity in broadcasting is always the most reliable sign of quality.
With its engaging reports on people living by the sea or working at sea, HRT’s mosaic-informational program More has captivated viewers since its inception in 1982. Even today, forty-three years after its first broadcast, it remains highly popular. The crews and ferries of Jadrolinija have played a key role in the program, contributing both content and logistical support. Longtime editor and reporter Zdravko Kleva explains why More is among HRT’s most-watched programs.
Tell us about the beginnings of More and how you became a part of it.
In 1982, Branislav Bimbašić, then editor of HRT’s Rijeka and Pula centers, introduced the show People, the Sea, and the Coast to the program board. The idea was immediately embraced, and reports on maritime-related topics started being produced by journalists from Pula and Rijeka. That was the era of black-and-white television. As a student, I watched those reports with interest, never imagining that I would one day contribute to the program myself. I began my journalistic career at Radio Rijeka in 1986, after which I was offered a transfer to

Emisija „More" poznata je po pripovijestima o životu ljudi u priobalju i na otocima. Kojih se reportaža posebno sjećate? S obzirom na 36-godišnji staž reportera i urednika teško mi je prisjetiti se svih priča koje sam s kolegama snimateljima zabilježio i ispričao u emisiji „More". Najviše sam volio reportaže o ribarima, njihovim vještinama i životu u teškim uvjetima u kojima obavljaju svoj zahtjevan posao. Velik izazov bio je pronalaziti ljude na udaljenijim otocima do kojih nema brodskih linija. Izolirane, samosvjesne, odlučne i – najčešće – osuđene da žive svoj otočni život. Ukorijenjeni u svoju postojbinu, sudbinski i emocionalno. Poput usamljenog bračnog para na otočiću Škarda. Ona je bila krhka starica, a on slabovidan i bez pola desne podlaktice. Unatoč svemu živjeli su na otoku, a on je i tako hendikepiran uspijevao krpati svoje ribarske mreže, o čemu smo napravili reportažu. Sjećam se i priče o Amadeu, povratniku iz Amerike, s otoka Vele Srakane. Njemu bi pilot malog zrakoplova, koji je svojedobno održavao zračnu liniju između Malog Lošinja i Unija, svako jutro na otok bacio dnevne novine. Takve je priče užitak ispričati.

Kako je Jadrolinija sudjelovala u stvaranju sadržaja za tu kultnu emisiju i koliko je pridonijela kvaliteti programa?
Uloga Jadrolinije u produkciji emisije „More" bila je uglavnom neizostavna i iznimno važna. Puno tema i zanimljivosti možete pronaći na obali, ali su uvijek atraktivnije one s mora, kad se otisnete i plovite na naše prekrasne otoke. A kako stići na njih bez trajekata, brodova? Moja su ljepša iskustva vezana za Jadrolinijine putničke, starije i sporije brodove, poput MB Premuda ili MB Postire. O MB Karlovac napravio sam reportažu 1993., kad je plovio od Malog Lošinja do Suska. Poslije sam je pronašao na Facebooku te je i danas volim pogledati. Za plovidbe bi se stiglo popričati sa šefom makine ili mornarom. Šetalo se po brodu, uživalo u salonu, radio je brodski bar, uspostavljao se razgovor s putnicima. Često bi nam prišao netko od putnika i rekao: „Vi ste s televizije? E, tribate vi snimiti…" Tako smo puno puta otkrili zanimljivu temu i poslije je obradili. Trebalo se, dakle, voziti putničkim brodovima Jadrolinije i otkrivati zanimljive teme.
Kako ste stvarali program u vrijeme Domovinskog rata?
Za vrijeme Domovinskog rata Jadrolinija je, ondje gdje je mogla, naše snimateljske ekipe prebacivala na otoke pa se i u tim otežanim okolnostima uspijevalo snimati sadržaje za emisiju „More". Brod Liburnija u Konvoju Libertas nezaboravno mi je reportersko iskustvo. Osim te logističke Jadrolinijine uloge u emisiji „More",
television. In HRT’s Rijeka center, I had the opportunity to try my hand at TV reporting on maritime topics. In 1990, the show was renamed More. Thanks to advancements in technology, colleagues from other regional centers—Split, Dubrovnik, and Pula—began participating in its production. Today, all coastal TV centers—Split, Zadar, Rijeka, and Pula—take turns producing More.
The show is known for telling the stories of people living on the coast and islands. Which reports do you remember most fondly?
With 36 years as a reporter and editor, it's difficult to recall every story I’ve worked on, but I always enjoyed covering fishermen—their skills, their lives, and the tough conditions in which they work. One of the biggest challenges was finding people on remote islands without ferry connections. These were often self-reliant individuals, deeply connected to their homeland, both emotionally and out of necessity. I remember a report about an elderly couple living alone on the islet of Škarda. The wife was frail, and the husband was visually impaired and missing part of his right forearm. Despite this, he still managed to mend his fishing nets, which we captured in our story. Another memorable report featured Amadeo, a returnee from America, living on the island of Vele Srakane. Every morning, a pilot operating a small plane between Mali Lošinj and Unije would drop a newspaper onto the island for him. Stories like these are a joy to tell.
How has Jadrolinija contributed to the making of this iconic show, and how has it enhanced its quality?
Jadrolinija’s role in More has always been invaluable. While you can find interesting stories along the coast, the most captivating ones come from the sea, from the moment you set sail for our beautiful islands. And how would we reach them without ferries and vessels? Some of my fondest memories involve Jadrolinija’s older, slower passenger ships, such as MB Premuda or MB Postira In 1993, I made a report about MB Karlovac when it was operating between Mali Lošinj and Susak. I later found the footage on Facebook, and I still enjoy watching it today. Sailing on these ferries allowed time for conversations with the chief engineer or crew members. You could walk around the ship, relax in the salon, or chat with passengers at the ferry bar. Often, a passenger would approach us and say, "You’re from TV? You

Kamere emisije „More" snimale su vježbe posade Jadrolinijinih brodova i trajekata u izvanrednim okolnostima, ali i spašavanje putnika i posade. Sve prinove u bijeloj floti bile su uvrštene u sadržaj emisije. Sva priznanja – a najveće je Plava vrpca – kojima bi članovi posade Jadrolinije bili nagrađeni bila su povod da se u emisiji govori o dobitnicima i njihovim pothvatima.
Kako se emisija prilagođivala suvremenim medijskim uvjetima i novim platformama? Jeste li sadržaj usklađivali s novim izazovima i potrebama gledatelja?
Smatram da emisiju kao format ne treba posebno prilagođivati ili mijenjati. Reportaža kao novinarska forma uvijek će biti kraljica novinarstva. Platforme su alati predstavljanja i distribucije sadržaja. Emisija „More", ali i mnogi drugi sadržaji mogu se putem platforme HRTi gledati na računalu, pametnom telefonu i televizoru. Dostupna je i na YouTubeu, a neki se sadržaji prenose i na Facebooku.
Kako vidite budućnost emisije „More" i što biste savjetovali mladim novinarima koji žele nastaviti posao kojim ste se bavili cijeli život?
Hrvatska je pomorska zemlja. Njezina obala, otoci, more i ljudi koji uz njega žive neiscrpno su nadahnuće za novinarsku temu. Ali morate voljeti taj posao, to podneblje i te ljude, to je osnova svega. Budućnost emisije „More", po mom dubokom uvjerenju, ne bi smjela biti upitna. Kad je riječ o mladima, svjestan sam da su internet i portali danas nezaobilazni izvori informacija i da se vrijeme u tom smislu stubokom promijenilo. Novinari su satima uz računalo, a ja im savjetujem da izađu na ulicu, da razgovaraju s ljudima, šetaju uz more i usput otkrivaju teme koje su često nadohvat ruke. Novinarstvo je komunikacija, a u toj komunikaciji uvijek se nalazi nadahnuće koje je vrijedno podijeliti s drugim ljudima. To dokazuje i emisija „More" i njezina dugovječnost.

How did you continue producing More during the Homeland War?
During the war, Jadrolinija helped transport our film crews to islands whenever possible, ensuring that More could continue filming despite the challenging circumstances. One unforgettable experience was covering the Liburnija ship in the Libertas Convoy Beyond its logistical role in facilitating our work, Jadrolinija has always been a part of our content as well. The show has documented emergency drills on board its vessels and ferries, as well as real-life rescue operations of passengers and crew. Every new addition to the fleet was featured in More. We also covered the Blue Ribbon awards, the highest recognition for maritime bravery, highlighting the heroic acts of Jadrolinija’s crews.
How has More adapted to modern media trends and new platforms?
I believe the format of the show doesn’t need major adjustments. A well-crafted report will always be the crown jewel of journalism. Digital platforms are simply tools for distribution. More, like many other HRT programs, is now available via the HRTi platform, accessible on computers, smartphones, and smart TVs. The show is also on YouTube, and some segments are shared on Facebook.
What do you see as the future of More, and what advice would you give young journalists looking to follow in your footsteps?
Croatia is a maritime country. Its coastline, islands, sea, and the people living by it provide an endless source of journalistic inspiration. But to succeed, you must have a passion for this work, for this region, and for its people—that’s the foundation. I strongly believe that the future of More should never be in question. When it comes to young journalists, I understand that the internet and news portals dominate today’s media landscape, and that times have changed drastically. Many journalists spend hours at their desks, but I urge them to step outside, talk to people, walk by the sea, and uncover the stories that are often right in front of them. Journalism is about communication, and through that connection, inspiration emerges—something worth sharing. The longevity of More proves this time and again.

Antonele Kardum opovrgava zastarjelu pučku izreku da žena na brodu znači veliku nesreću. Svakodnevno ploveći na brodovima Jadrolinije pokazuje da profesionalno umijeće i predanost poslu ne ovise o spolu, a to potvrđuju i kolege pomorci koji je smatraju ravnopravnim članom posade
Da bi se uspješno prevezlo više od 12,6 milijuna putnika godišnje i 3,7 milijuna vozila nisu dovoljni samo brodovi. Ključni je preduvjet tog zahtjevnog posla – neovisno o spolu – stručna posada čije se kvalitete vrednuju prema znanju, sposobnostima i predanosti poslu. Glavni su oslonac Jadrolinije pomorci, što potvrđuje i statistika: čak 75 posto od oko 2000 zaposlenih čine pomorci na različitim dužnostima. Pružanjem kvalitetne usluge jamče ugodno i sigurno putovanje. Modernizacija i unapređenje poslovanja podjednako se odnosi na ulaganje u flotu i razvoj ljudskih resursa. Starinska izreka da žena na brodu znači veliku nesreću u Jadroliniji je odavno opovrgnuta.
Nacionalni brodar jedan je od prvih u Europi koji je zaposlio časnicu. Riječ je o Marici Njegovan, danas umirovljenoj zaposlenici Jadrolinije, koja je 1976. godine zaplovila na brodu Liburnija. Uvijek je isticala da su i tih 70-ih godina kolege bili dobronamjerni i s poštovanjem gledali na ženu na brodu te da se uvijek osjećala i ravnopravno i dobrodošlo. To potvrđuje i Antonela Kardum, jedna od časnica u Jadroliniji. Nakon završetka studija Nautike i tehnologije pomorskog prometa u Splitu, kadeturu je odradila na brodovima Jadrolinije. „Otpočetka sam se osjećala kao da potpuno pripadam posadi. Od muških kolega nikada nisam doživjela da me smatraju manje vrijednom ili manje sposobnom, a jednako tako nikad nisam dopuštala da preuzimaju neke od mojih zadataka samo zato što sam žena. Tijekom kadeture kolege su se prema meni odnosili pomalo zaštitnički, gotovo očinski, no uvijek s poštovanjem. Pokazala sam svoju vrijednost i sposobnost te sada, kao prva časnica, mogu reći da sam opravdala i zavrijedila njihovo poštovanje."
The example of young and capable Chief Officer Antonela Kardum disproves the old saying that a woman on board brings bad luck. Sailing daily on Jadrolinija's ferries, she proves that professional skill and dedication are not defined by gender, something her fellow sailors affirm by considering her an equal member of the crew.
Transporting over 12.6 million passengers and 3.7 million vehicles annually requires more than just ferries. The key to this challenging job—regardless of gender—is a skilled crew whose qualities are measured by knowledge, ability, and dedication. Seafarers are Jadrolinija’s mainstay, making up 75% of the company’s 2,000 employees. By providing quality service, they ensure a safe and pleasant journey. The company’s modernization strategy focuses equally on fleet investment and human resources development. The old saying that women bring bad luck at sea has long been disproved in Jadrolinija.
In fact, the company was one of the first in Europe to employ a female officer—Marica Njegovan, who started her career in 1976 on the ferry Liburnija. She often stated that, even in the 1970s, her colleagues treated her with respect, making her feel both welcomed and equal.
This sentiment is echoed by Antonela Kardum, one of Jadrolinija’s current officers. After earning her degree in Nautical Studies and Maritime Transport Technology in Split, she completed her cadetship on Jadrolinija's vessels.
"From the very beginning, I felt like I completely belonged to the crew. My male colleagues never treated me as less capable, nor did I ever allow them to take over my duties just because I’m a woman. During my cadetship, they were somewhat protective – almost fatherly—but always respectful. I proved my skills and abilities, and now, as Chief Officer, I can say I have earned their trust and respect.”

Dok razgovaramo s Antonelom na trajektu Korčula, koji je tada bio na remontu, nekoliko muških članova posade joj prilazi s brojnim pitanjima. Čifice, oslovljavaju je s poštovanjem, tražeći savjet i potvrđujući njezin autoritet.
Na pitanje o neugodnim iskustvima Antonela odgovara da iznimaka uvijek ima, ali se najčešće odnose na putnike. „Iako je odnos s putnicima u većini slučajeva iznimno pozitivan – do te mjere da mi mašu, žele se fotografirati sa mnom itd. – ipak se čuje i negativnih komentara. Primjerice: 'Nećemo mi s njom, to je nesreća'. Na to bih odgovorila: 'Dobro, onda pričekajte drugi trajekt'. Ubrzo bi se predomislili."
Antonela je nedavno položila i kapetanski ispit te sada, kao prva časnica, ne skriva da želi preuzeti mjesto zapovjednice na nekom od brodova bijele flote. „Razmišljam o tome, to je logičan korak u razvoju karijere. Kad će se to ostvariti ovisi o potrebama kompanije i okolnostima, ali težim tom cilju."
Trenutno plovi kao prva časnica na trajektu Korčula, ali je iskustvo stjecala i na drugim brodovima, primjerice na trajektu Tin Ujević. Plovila je i na brodu Marko Polo, na međunarodnoj liniji prema Italiji. Tijekom uobičajenih rotacija na poslu plovila je na mnogim linijama, a posebno joj je prirasla srcu ona prema Starom Gradu. Ondje je, kaže, toliko udomaćena da otočane, dostavljače i vozače, poznaje po imenu.
Posebno izazovno razdoblje za nju bilo je u doba pandemije bolesti COVID-19, kad su smjene na brodovima bile produljene,

When asked about negative experiences, Antonela admits that while her colleagues have always been supportive, passengers can sometimes be a different story.
"Most interactions with passengers are very positive—they wave at me, ask for photos, and show great respect. But occasionally, I hear comments like, ‘We don’t want to sail with her; that’s bad luck.’ To which I simply reply, ‘Alright, then wait for the next ferry.’ They usually change their minds quickly.”
Recently, Antonela also passed her captain's exam and does not hide her ambition to become a captain on one of Jadrolinija’s ships.

Iako primjer Antonele Kardum pokazuje da žene imaju važno mjesto na brodu, statistika je daleko od zadovoljavajuće. Na svjetskoj razini na brodovima je zaposleno samo 2 posto žena, dok je u Hrvatskoj taj broj još i manji. Razlog je u dugoj tradiciji predrasuda i percepciji pomorskog zvanja kao isključivo muškog zanimanja. Antonela pak svojim primjerom dokazuje da interesi, vještine i predanost poslu nisu određeni spolom.
„U ovom sam se zanimanju zapravo našla posve slučajno. Studij koji sam završila kombinacija je pomorske nautike i menadžmenta. Imali smo puno stručnih predmeta koji su me sve više usmjeravali prema nautici. Što sam više učila, to sam više željela ići na

Currently, she serves as First Officer on the ferry Korčula, but she has also gained experience on other ferries, including Tin Ujević and Marko Polo, which operates international routes to Italy. Through regular crew rotations, she has worked on many different routes, but the one to Stari Grad holds a special place in her heart.
"I’ve spent so much time there that I know all the locals, delivery drivers, and truckers by name.”
One of the most challenging periods in her career was during the COVID-19 pandemic, when crew shifts were extended due to quarantine restrictions.
"That was an extremely demanding time. Once, while on the ferry Marko Polo, I stayed onboard for three and a half months without disembarking. Jedan je od najčešćih argumenata protiv zapošljavanja žena u pomorstvu uvjerenje da je u toj profesiji vrlo teško uskladiti privatni i poslovni život. No Antonela ne sumnja u ispravnost svoje odluke. „Naravno da nije lako uskladiti obitelj i prijatelje s radom na brodu, ali uvijek sam imala potporu. Kolege su spremni uskočiti kad je potrebno, a i poslodavac ima razumijevanja. Kad mi je nešto bilo iznimno važno, uvijek sam našla rješenje."
Što bi žena s iskustvom i zadovoljna svojim poslom mogla poručiti djevojkama koje razmišljaju o pomorskoj karijeri?
„Samo krenite!", kaže odlučno. Vrijeme je da se postotak žena u pomorstvu poveća, a Antonelin primjer mogao bi biti poticaj mladim ženama koje tome žele pridonijeti.

Despite her success, statistics still show that women remain underrepresented in the maritime industry. Globally, only 2% of seafarers are women, and the numbers in Croatia are even lower. This stems from a long tradition of gender prejudice and the perception of maritime professions as male dominated.
Antonela, however, proves that skills and dedication are not determined by gender.
"I ended up in this career by chance. My degree was a mix of nautical studies and management. The more I learned about navigation, the more I wanted to work at sea. No one in my family is a sailor, but when I told them about my decision, they weren’t surprised. They even said I had shown interest in ships since childhood and had always dreamed of becoming a captain.”
One of the most common arguments against hiring women at sea is the belief that balancing maritime career and personal life is too difficult. But Antonela is confident in her choice.
"Of course, it’s not easy to balance family and friendships with a maritime career, but I’ve always had support. My colleagues are willing to help when needed, and even the company is understanding. Whenever something was truly important, I found a solution.”
So, what advice does she have for young women considering a maritime career?

Branko Stipić nikad nije mogao ni zamisliti život daleko od mora. Rođen na otoku Drvenik Mali, odrastao je uza šum valova i sirenu dolazećih trajekata koji su na otok donosili sve potrebno za život. Još kao dječak shvatio je koliko su otočani – sigurnom vezom s kopnom i zadovoljenjem svakidašnjih potreba – vezani za Jadroliniju. Kad se 1973. godine, kao „mali od kužine", ukrcao na svoj prvi brod nije ni slutio da će mu ta ljubav odrediti život.
„Jadrolinija je žila kucavica Jadrana, u punom smislu te riječi, a meni je pružila sve", kaže Branko.
Iako više nije zaposlenik Jadrolinije, Branko je ostao dio te velike obitelji. Danas je zakupac ugostiteljskih objekata na trajektima Ilovik, Sveti Duje, Bol i Lošinj, koji su postali omiljeno mjesto putnika željnih predaha uz miris kave i s pogledom na pučinu. Hospitality entrepreneur Branko Stipić started his career with Jadrolinija as a "galley boy" and today successfully manages catering establishments on its ferries. The sea has always been his greatest love, and he fondly recalls many interesting experiences from his numerous voyages.
Branko Stipić could never imagine a life far from the sea. Born on the island of Drvenik Mali, he grew up to the sound of waves and the horn of arriving ferries that brought everything necessary for island life. As a young boy, he realized how much islanders depended on Jadrolinija—not just as a safe connection to the mainland but also for meeting their daily needs. When he boarded his first ferry in 1973 as a "galley boy," he had no idea that this love would shape his entire life.
"Jadrolinija is the lifeline of the Adriatic in every sense of the word, and it has given me everything," says Branko.
Although he is no longer an employee of Jadrolinija, Branko remains a part of that large family. Today, he manages the catering facilities on the ferries Ilovik, Sveti Duje, Bol, and Lošinj, which have become favorite spots for passengers looking for a
Drveniku Malom. Budući da je njegov otok do tada nije imao, otvaranjem trgovine Branko je želio pomoći svojim sumještanima. I tada mu je Jadrolinija bila glavni oslonac – brodovi su dovozili namirnice i ostale potrepštine, a posade su mu bile mnogo više od prijevoznika.
„Bili su tako uslužni da smo im čak davali recepte da nam na kopnu u ljekarni podignu lijek, kako zbog jednog lijeka ne bismo morali putovati na kopno", kaže Branko kako bi dočarao prisan odnos otočana i pomoraca Jadrolinije.
Danas, kad govori o svom ugostiteljskom poslu, ističe da je najponosniji na zapošljavanje žena. Prije desetak godina zaposlio je prvu konobaricu na šanku Jadrolinijina broda, a sada ih je desetak.
„Žene su iznimno vrijedne i sposobne, a moj su primjer zapošljavanja ženskog osoblja ubrzo prihvatili i drugi kolege", ponosno kaže.

After his initial years with Jadrolinija, Branko spent 11 years working for Jadroplov before returning home to open a small shop on Drvenik Mali. Since the island had no store at the time, Branko wanted to help his fellow islanders by providing them with essential goods. Even then, Jadrolinija was his main support— its ferries delivered groceries and supplies, and the crews were much more than just transporters.
"They were so helpful that we even gave them prescriptions so they could pick up medicine for us on the mainland, saving us from having to travel for just one item," Branko recalls, illustrating the close bond between islanders and Jadrolinija's seafarers.
Today, when speaking about his hospitality business, he is most proud of employing women. About ten years ago, he hired

Davnih godina sklopio je prijateljstva koja i danas traju. Kako je zakup ugostiteljskih objekta povezan s brodom, a ne linijom, katkad njegov brod bude preusmjeren na neku drugu liniju.
„Kad bi se brod vratio na staru liniju, putnici bi nas oduševljeno dočekali, kao da se sreću s dobrim starim prijateljem", prisjeća se Branko.
Turistička sezona poslovno je najprometnija – čak 85 posto godišnje zarade ostvaruje se u tri ljetna mjeseca, a zimi ugostitelji

"Women are extremely hardworking and capable, and my example of hiring female staff was quickly adopted by other colleagues," he says with pride.
Branko's years working on ferries have filled his life with stories, anecdotes, and friendships. In the past, ferry bars were like small "confessionals"—places where people shared life advice, talked about love stories, and exchanged island news. Branko enjoys working behind the bar and always steps in when needed. Times have changed, and life has become more fast-paced. Although he still finds great satisfaction in working with people, he believes the relationship between bartender and guest used to be much closer. Years ago, he formed friendships that still last today. Since the catering concession is tied to the ferry rather than the route, sometimes his ship gets reassigned to a different route.
"When the ferry returned to its usual route, passengers would welcome us enthusiastically, as if they were reuniting with old friends," Branko recalls.

i otočani žive sporijim ritmom i manje troše. No, život na brodu nikad ne prestaje. Posade i ugostitelji rade rame uz rame, pridržavajući se pomorskih pravila i smjena koje traju po dva tjedna.
„Moje zaposlenice i ja na brodu smo također članovi posade. Položili smo sve potrebne ispite i brod nam je drugi dom", kaže Branko.
More ne donosi samo spokoj, ugodu i ljepotu, nego katkad i izazove koje treba prevladati. Branko pamti izvanredne situacije koje su pokazale manje poznato lice Jadrolinije – ono hrabro, nesebično, sučeljeno s izazovima i uvijek spremno pomoći.
„Prije gotovo 30 godina s posadom sam sudjelovao u spašavanju jedriličara koje je zahvatila bura u Senjskim vratima, na liniji Baška – Lopar", prisjeća se Branko.
Posebno je ponosan na svoju djelatnicu koja je u splitskoj luci skočila u more s druge palube trajekta Petar Hektorović kako bi pomogla vozaču automobila koji je upao u more.
„Bio je to hrabar čin vrijedan divljenja. Jadrolinija svake godine ima slučajeve spašavanja na moru, što za pomorce nije ništa neobično, ali na mene je to ostavilo dubok dojam", kaže Branko.
Stipić je cijeli život samostalno gradio svoju karijeru i vjeruje da Hrvatska mladima nudi priliku, imaju li ideju i volju, da ostvare svoje ciljeve.
„Naša je zemlja predivna i tko želi ovdje može ostvariti uspješnu karijeru. Imate li priliku zaposliti se u Jadroliniji, svakako biste je trebali iskoristiti", kaže Branko.
Brankov životni put, dugo i prisno povezan s brodovima i ljudima, dokaz je da ljubav prema poslu i predanost vlastitoj viziji donose uspjeh i životno zadovoljstvo.

is generated in just three summer months, while winter brings a slower pace and reduced spending for both caterers and islanders. However, life aboard the ferry never stops. Crews and catering staff work side by side, following maritime rules and rotating in shifts that last two weeks.
"My employees and I are also part of the crew. We have passed all the necessary exams, and the ferry is our second home," says Branko.
The sea does not only bring peace, comfort, and beauty; sometimes, it also presents challenges that must be overcome. Branko recalls extraordinary situations that revealed a lesser-known side of Jadrolinija—the brave, selfless side, always ready to help.
"Nearly 30 years ago, I was part of a crew that rescued sailors caught in a storm in the Senj Channel, on the Baška–Lopar route," Branko remembers.
He is especially proud of one of his employees who, in the port of Split, jumped from the second deck of the ferry Petar Hektorović to help a driver whose car had fallen into the sea.
"It was a brave act worthy of admiration. Every year, Jadrolinija crews take part in sea rescues, which is nothing unusual for seafarers, but for me, it left a deep impression," he says.
Stipić has built his career independently and firmly believes that Croatia offers opportunities for young people who have ideas and the drive to achieve their goals.
"Our country is beautiful, and anyone who wants to can build a successful career here. If you have the chance to work for Jadrolinija, you should definitely take it," says Branko.

Jedan od mnogih brodova koji su godinama povezivali otoke i obalu Jadranskog mora ima sasvim poseban status. Brod Tijat za većinu je stanovnika šibenskog arhipelaga simbol života, odlazaka i povrataka, sretnih i tužnih trenutaka. Tijat je sumještanin, jedan od dobro poznatih susjeda s kojim se dijele mnoge uspomene.
Izgrađen 1955. u splitskom brodogradilištu, taj mali brod preživio je mnoga desetljeća, odolijevajući morskim nepredvidivostima i prkoseći vremenu dokazivao svoju neuništivost. Gotovo svaka pomorska zemlja u Europi i svijetu u svojim lukama ima sačuvan barem jedan povijesni brod koji je turistička atrakcija i ploveći brod muzej, simbol pomorstva i poštovanja tradicije. Teško je riječima objasniti što je posebno u Tijatu. Kad se ukrcate na brod, prođete kroz njegove salone i osluhnute zvuk makine, osjetit ćete tu njegovu dušu iz 1955. godine i nehotice zaploviti u njegovu slavnu prošlost.

Rijetkost je da jedan brod toliko dugo plovi za istog vlasnika – u ovom slučaju Jadroliniju – što potvrđuje njegovu kvalitetnu gradnju i pouzdanost u plovidbi.
Jadrolinijinoj bijeloj floti zadržao je izvorni oblik i originalni stroj, a trup je građen tehnikom zavarivanja čeličnih ploča.
Rijetkost je da jedan brod toliko dugo plovi za istog vlasnika – u ovom slučaju Jadroliniju – što potvrđuje njegovu kvalitetnu gradnju i pouzdanost u plovidbi. Svim trima brodovima iz te serije –Tijatu, Postiri i Premudi – zajedničke su mnoge maritimne posebnosti. Oni i danas plove, što je najvjerodostojnija potvrda kvalitete gradnje. Kako je započela vaša ljubav prema Tijatu?
S Tijatom, tadašnjim Ohridom, i njegovim sestrinskim brodovima živim gotovo od rođenja, od trenutka kad sam prvi put kročio na rivu u Vodicama. Svakodnevno sam ga dočekivao ili ispraćao.

It is difficult to put into words what makes Tijat so unique. Step on board, walk through its saloon, listen to the rhythm of its engine, and you will feel the soul of 1955 resonating through its decks, unintentionally setting sail into its glorious past."
What inspired your commitment to preserving this maritime and cultural heritage?
Tijat was designed in Croatia and built in the Split shipyard specifically for Adriatic navigation. Throughout its service in Jadrolinija’s white fleet, it has retained its original form and machinery, while its hull was constructed using the technique of welding steel plates.
It is rare for a ship to remain in service under the same owner for such long period—68 years in this case, with Jadrolinija— which confirms its quality construction and reliability at sea. The three sister ships from this series—Tijat, Postira, and Premuda share many maritime characteristics. The fact that they are still sailing today is the best proof of their exceptional construction. This is why we are committed to preserve Tijat as part of Croatia’s cultural and technical heritage.
How did your love for Tijat begin?
I have lived with Tijat—formerly Ohrid and its sister ships almost since birth, from the moment I first stepped onto the waterfront in Vodice. Every day, I either welcomed or bid farewell to it. For me, Tijat is much more than a ship. It was a lifeline for islanders traveling to work, school, for supplies, medical care, childbirth, and even to their final journey. It was their window to the world, and the sound of its engine meant homecoming or the arrival of loved ones. Islanders often said that Tijat was a ship you heard before you saw it.
How and with what idea was the Facebook group "Tijat in the Heart" launched?
The initiative to preserve Tijat began in 2009 on the forum ‘Brodovi i pomorstvo’ I started it without imagining it would attract so much attention. We discussed its voyages, and later, the conversation moved to Facebook.
Along with Ivana Beban, Saša Jurat, and Milo Sršen, I launched the Facebook group
Za mene je Tijat mnogo više od broda. Njime su ljudi odlazili na posao, u školu, u nabavu potrepština, u medicinsku ustanovu, u rađaonicu i na posljednji počinak. Tijat je otočanima bio prozor u svijet, a zvuk njegove makine znak da se vraćaju kući ili da im stižu najmiliji. Otočani su često govorili da je Tijat brod koji najprije čuješ, a tek onda ugledaš.
Kako i s kojom je idejom pokrenuta Facebook grupa Tijat u srcu? Priča koju smo pokrenuli za očuvanje broda Tijat započela je 2009. godine na forumu Brodovi i pomorstvo. Pokrenuo sam je i ne sluteći da će izazvati toliko pozornosti i pregleda. Ondje smo razgovarali o njegovim plovidbama, a poslije se sve preselilo na Facebook. Priču o Tijatu pokrenuli smo Ivana Beban, Saša Jurat, Milo Sršen i ja. U kolovozu 2014. osnovana je Facebook grupa Tijat u srcu kako bi se brod sačuvao u izvornom obliku i s originalnim strojem.
U početku je to bilo samo postavljanje fotografija uz objave i prepričavanje anegdota s plovidbe tim brodom, ali su mnogi članovi grupe postupno počeli upozoravati na njegovu posebnu vrijednost. U suradnji sa Šimom Strikomanom, poznatim hrvatskim autorom milenijskih fotografija, organizirali smo pet milenijskih snimanja. Fotografije su pobudile mnoge emocije kod putnika i otočana i bile poput vremeplova koji je prizvao sjećanja na djetinjstvo i život prije više od 50 godina.
Jadrolinija je odmah prepoznala i podržavala rad grupe Tijat u srcu pomažući nam u organizaciji svih događanja.
Na kraju Tijatova staža u bijeloj floti Jadrolinije, ta je grupa je prerasla u platformu za njegovo očuvanje. Možete li nam opisati taj proces?

‘Tijat u srcu’ in August 2014 to ensure the ship would be preserved in its original form, with its authentic engine. Initially, we simply posted photos and recounted anecdotes from its voyages, but as the group grew, more and more members began highlighting its historical significance.
In collaboration with Šime Strikoman, the renowned Croatian author of ‘millennial photographs,’ we organized five such photo shoots. The images stirred deep emotions among passengers and islanders, acting as a time machine that revived childhood memories and life as it was over 50 years ago.
Jadrolinija immediately recognized and supported our efforts, assisting with event organization.

Našoj se Facebook grupi tijekom 2022. priključio Ivan Kralj koji nas je usmjerio prema mogućim rješenjima za ostvarenje našeg cilja – očuvanja Tijata. Tada se Ivana Beban obratila Šibenskokninskoj županiji. Pokazalo se da je to bio ključan potez i počele su pripreme za kupnju i povratak broda u Šibenik.
Kad se 7. srpnja 2023. Tijat vratio s posljednje plovidbe, bio sam jako uzbuđen. Iako ponosan na sve što smo napravili, bilo je iznimno teško gledati brod kako se posljednji put veže za vodičku rivu. Te su večeri stanovnici Zlarina, Prvić Luke i Prvić Šepurina dočekali brod na njegovoj posljednjoj plovidbi i dostojanstveno ga ispratili bakljama, pjesmom, ali i suzama, dok su ga Vodice na rivi dočekale s glazbom. Bilo je vrlo emotivno, pogotovo kad je uz prodoran zvuk brodske sirene brod Postira preuzeo liniju, ostavljajući Tijat privezan za rivu. Ne znam hoće li ijedan brod ikad više biti tako voljen kao Tijat.
Voljeli bismo da Tijat obilazi luke u koje je nekada pristajao, kao dio posebne turističke i kulturne ponude šibenskog kraja. Da izvan sezone bude dio programa terenske nastave učenika tehničkih i pomorskih škola.
At the end of Tijat’s service in the white fleet, the group became a platform for its preservation. Can you describe that process?
In the second half of 2022, we received information that, after 68 years at sea, Tijat was no longer scheduled for maintenance and renovation, meaning it was at risk of being sent to the scrapyard. We knocked on every door, appealed to various platforms, and ultimately launched a petition to save it, gathering many signatures.
We also spoke with European Parliament member Tonino Picula about options to prevent the ship from being scrapped or repurposed.
In 2022, Ivan Kralj joined our Facebook group and helped us explore viable solutions. That same year, Ivana Beban reached out to the Šibenik-Knin County authorities, a move that proved to be decisive. It set the stage for negotiations to purchase and bring the ship back to Šibenik.
On July 7, 2023, when Tijat completed its final voyage, I was overwhelmed with emotion. While proud of everything we had accomplished, it was incredibly difficult to watch the ship moor at the Vodice waterfront for the last time. That evening, residents of Zlarin, Prvić Luka, and Prvić Šepurine welcomed it with torches, songs, and tears, while Vodice greeted it with music. This was a very emotional farewell, especially when, with a solemn blast of its horn, the ship Postira took over the route, leaving Tijat moored at the pier. I do not know if any ship will ever be loved as much as Tijat.
Do you recall any particularly memorable story from Tijat’s long service?

Tijatova plovidba ispunjena je mnogim životnim pričama. Jednoga ranog kolovoškog jutra 1961., ploveći na redovitoj liniji Skradin –Šibenik, u Zatonu se na brod ukrcala žena s pratnjom. Žurila se u rodilište jer je bila u visokom stupnju trudnoće. Nedugo nakon polaska iz Zatona prema Šibeniku začuo se dječji plač, a brod Ohrid – današnji Tijat – postao je mjesto rođenja dječaka koji je danas član naše Facebook grupe Tijat u srcu.
Brod Ohrid bio je mjesto rođenja još jednog dječaka iz Skradina. Tijat je brod s dušom. U njegovim se salonima razgovaralo o životu, odrastanju, ljubavi... Putnicima je uvijek bio više od prijevoznog sredstva – dio života koji se pamti.
O Tijatovoj bogatoj povijesti svjedoči i članak Anite Matijaš. U brodogradilište Brodosplit, kao dio ratnih reparacija, 1952. godine dopremljen je stroj za savijanje čeličnih limova, korišten u gradnji poznatog njemačkog vojnog broda Bismarck. Pretpostavlja se da su tim strojem savijani limovi za naš Tijat.
Kakvu budućnost predviđate Tijatu?
Tijat je sada u vlasništvu Šibensko-kninske županije. Najprije se planira njegova temeljita obnova, kako bi mogao dobiti potrebne svjedodžbe za plovidbu.
Facebook grupa Tijat u srcu i dalje će predlagati aktivnosti kojima bi se promicala važnost tog broda. Voljeli bismo da obilazi luke u koje je nekada pristajao, kao dio posebne turističke i kulturne ponude šibenskog kraja. Da izvan sezone bude dio programa terenske nastave učenika tehničkih i pomorskih škola. Sve su to zasad samo ideje, ali o njegovoj novoj namjeni odlučuje vlasnik.
Vidite li sebe u nekoj ulozi?
Na Tijat se kao zapovjednik ukrcao Saša Jurat, čime mu se ispunila životna želja s obzirom na to da mu je i otac bio zapovjednik tog broda. Saša je od samih početaka s nama u nastojanju da očuvamo Tijat kao važan dio pomorske baštine. Nastojanje da se Tijatu nađe mjesto u hrvatskoj kulturnoj i pomorskoj baštini smatram svojim služenjem domovini. Jer Tijat je priča o ljudima, škojima, plovidbi i životu.

The Tijat’s rich history is also testified by an article written by Anita Matijaš. In 1952, steel plate bending machine, used in the construction of the famous German warship Bismarck, was delivered to the Brodosplit shipyard as part of war reparations. It is assumed that this machine was used to bend the sheets for our Tijat
What future do you envision for Tijat? Tijat is now owned by Šibenik-Knin County. The first step is a thorough restoration to obtain the necessary certification for sailing.
The Facebook group ‘Tijat u srcu’ will continue to propose activities that highlight its significance. We hope to see it sail once again, visiting the ports it once served as part of a unique cultural and tourism offering in the Šibenik region. In the off-season, it could serve as a floating classroom for technical and maritime students. These are just ideas for now, but the ship’s future role will be decided by its new owner.
Do you see yourself playing a role in this new chapter?
Saša Jurat has taken command of Tijat, fulfilling his lifelong dream—especially since his father was also its captain. Since the very beginning, Saša has stood alongside us in our mission to preserve Tijat as an essential part of maritime heritage.
For me, ensuring Tijat’s place in Croatia’s cultural and maritime history is an act of service to my homeland. Because Tijat is more than just a ship – it’s a story of people, islands, navigation, and life itself. .
Keti Giljević, dugogodišnja djelatnica Jadrolinijine agencije u Pločama, cijeli je radni vijek provela kao članica velike obitelji koju su tvorili posade trajekta Pelješčanka, mještani Pelješca, agencijski kolege i putnici. Lani je otišla u mirovinu s nezaboravnim uspomenama na susrete s dragim ljudima i na posao koji je voljela.
Kako je počela vaša karijera u Jadroliniji i što vas je privuklo u pomorskoj djelatnosti?
Moj radni vijek počeo je u Jadrolinijinoj agenciji u Pločama 1987. godine, odmah nakon otvaranja tog prodajnog mjesta. Agenciju je osnovao pokojni Nikica Zmijarević, a osim mene zaposleni su i Radojka Pećar Lela i Miro Franić. Prije toga radila sam u Turist-birou Ploče u kojem sam prodavala ulaznice za Jadrolinijine brodove.
Oduvijek sam željela raditi s ljudima, pomagati im. Kolegice na poslu, posade brodova, otočani – svi smo zapravo bila jedna velika i čvrsto povezana obitelj. Keti Giljević, a long-time crew member of Jadrolinija’s agency in Ploče, spent her entire career as part of a close-knit maritime family—formed by the crew of the Pelješčanka ferry, the residents of Pelješac, agency colleagues, and passengers. Last year, she retired, taking with her unforgettable memories of encounters with wonderful people and a job she loved.
How did your career at Jadrolinija begin, and what drew you to the maritime industry?
My journey with Jadrolinija started in 1987 at the newly opened agency in Ploče. The agency was founded by the late Nikica Zmijarević, and alongside me, the crew included Radojka Pećar Lela and Miro Franić. Before that, I worked at the Tourist Bureau in Ploče, selling tickets for Jadrolinija’s ferries.
I’ve always wanted to work with people and assist them. My colleagues, the ferry crews, the islanders—we were all part of a tightly bonded crew. From my first day to my last, I felt content and fulfilled. When you go to work with a good positive feeling, it’s natural to give even more than what is expected of you. But to truly succeed in this profession and ensure that passengers always feel like they’re our top priority—which they always were —you need to put in extra effort, show full dedication, and maintain a warm and helpful approach.

Što vas je zanimalo izvan posla? Kako ste provodili slobodno vrijeme?
Oduvijek sam voljela ulagati u sebe i svoj profesionalni razvoj. To me obogaćivalo i činilo i boljom djelatnicom i sretnijom osobom. Tijekom radnog vijeka uz posao sam učila engleski i talijanski jezik i savladala ih do najviše jezične razine. Zbog prirode linije Ploče – Trpanj, koja je prije izgradnje Pelješkog mosta bila najbrža i najprometnija veza prema Dubrovniku, Albaniji i Crnoj Gori, svladala sam i osnove albanskog te mađarskog jezika.
Bila sam prva djelatnica agencije u Jadroliniji koja se aktivno služila znakovnim jezikom, na što sam iznimno ponosna. Pomagati osobama s posebnim potrebama pri ukrcaju ili iskrcaju i u bilo kojoj situaciji uvijek mi je bilo posebno zadovoljstvo. Također, svakodnevno smo komunicirali s vozačima kamiona i tegljača koji su koristili ovu liniju, pa sam im uvijek rado pomagala i nastojala im pružiti korisne informacije, čak i one koje nisu bile nužno vezane samo uz red plovidbe i kupnju karata.
Često smo se u agenciji šalili da smo poput poštanskog ureda –u nas se sve moglo dobiti i doznati, otprilike kao u trgovinama u kojima se nudi sve 'od igle do lokomotive!'
Koje trenutke u svojoj dugogodišnjoj karijeri smatrate najposebnijim ili najizazovnijim?
Nezaboravno i nimalo lagano razdoblje bila je ratna 1991. godina, osobito 14. rujna, tijekom vojne akcije Zelena tabla – Male Bare. To je bila prva vojna operacija hrvatskih branitelja u kojoj su blokirane i osvojene vojarne i skladišta oružja te vojni objekti JNA u Hrvatskoj. To je imalo važnu ulogu u naoružavanju tada vrlo slabo opremljenih obrambenih snaga. U akciji je sudjelovala i naša Pelješčanka, trajekt koji je, zajedno s plovnom dizalicom Birina i tegljačem Kastor, sudjelovao u potiskivanju ratnog brodovlja Jugoslavenske ratne mornarice iz Neretvanskog kanala.
Posada Pelješčanke prevozila je gardiste u vojne akcije, a mi smo u agenciji u Pločama štitili posadu i vojnike, osiguravali im hranu, vodu, tople napitke i zaklon. Osjećali smo golem strah, ali bili smo neizrecivo ponosni na naše pomorce i hrabru posadu Pelješčanke. Kakva je bila vaša svakodnevica dok ste bili zaposleni? U kakvom ste odnosu bili sa stanovnicima Trpnja i Pelješčanima općenito?
What interested you outside of work? How did you spend your free time?
I’ve always loved investing in myself and my professional growth. It enriched me, making me both a better employee and a happier person. Throughout my career, I studied English and Italian until I reached the highest proficiency levels. Due to the nature of the Ploče–Trpanj ferry route—which, before the Pelješac Bridge was built, was the fastest and busiest link to Dubrovnik, Albania, and Montenegro—I also picked up basic Albanian and Hungarian.
I was the first agency employee at Jadrolinija to actively use sign language, something I’m incredibly proud of. Helping passengers with special needs embark or disembark safely, or assisting them in any way, was always a great joy. We also communicated daily with truck drivers and haulers who relied on this ferry route, and I was always happy to assist them with any information they needed, even beyond ferry schedules and ticket sales.
We often joked that our agency was like a post office—you could get or find out anything here, much like those old general stores that sold ‘everything from a needle to a locomotive!
What moments in your long career stand out as the most memorable or challenging?
The most unforgettable and difficult period was during the war in 1991, especially on September 14th, during the Zelena tabla – Male Bare military operation. This was Croatia’s first major military action, where army barracks and weapons depots of the Yugoslav National Army were seized and blocked, playing a crucial role in arming our then-underequipped Croatian defense forces.
Our ferry Pelješčanka played a vital role, alongside the floating crane Birina and the tugboat Kastor, in pushing back the Yugoslav Navy from the Neretva Channel. The crew of the Pelješčanka transported soldiers to the front lines, while we in the Ploče agency did everything we could to support them—providing food, water, warm drinks, and shelter. We were filled with fear, but at the same time, we were immensely proud of our sailors and the brave crew of the Pelješčanka.
What was your daily routine like while working? How was your relationship with the residents of Trpanj and Pelješac?

Trpanj mi je u srcu! Njegove stanovnike doživljavam kao susjede, a mnoge od njih i kao obitelj. Uvijek smo im nastojali izaći u susret – naručivali smo ih na liječnički pregled, slali pakete, dijelove za automobile, nabavljali potrepštine i dostavljali ih Pelješčankom na kućnu adresu. Ako bi im što zatrebalo, znali su da uvijek mogu nazvati agenciju u Pločama.
Posebnu smo brigu vodili o djeci koja su putovala u školu u Ploče. Zimi bi linije često bile prekinute zbog juga ili bure pa bi djeca ostajala na kopnu. U takvim nepogodama smještali smo ih gdje je bilo moguće, katkad i u vlastiti dom.
Kako sada provodite vrijeme u mirovini? Nedostaje li vam Jadrolinija?
Nikad mi nije dosadno. Mnogo vremena provodim u vrtu u kojem uzgajam smokve. U Pločama me mnogi poznaju po izvrsnim suhim smokvama. Moj prozor gleda na pločansku trajektnu luku pa nemam osjećaj da sam doista otišla. Kad osjetim nostalgiju, dovoljno je pogledati kroz prozor i vidjeti Pelješčanku koju smo od milja nazivali 'naš trajekt hranitelj'. Bivše kolegice često me pozovu na kavu i rado se odazovem.
Što je najvažnije za uspješno obavljanje posla u Jadrolinijinoj agenciji?
Najvažnije je voljeti ono što radite i uvijek biti spreman pomoći i kolegama i putnicima. Moje iskustvo u Jadroliniji bilo je iznimno pozitivno. Komunicirala sam s djelatnicima agencija duž obale i nikada mi nije nedostajalo potpore i razmjene dobrog raspoloženja. Jadrolinija mi je bila sve i zahvalna sam kompaniji na radnom mjestu koje mi je pružalo zadovoljstvo i omogućilo da s lijepim uspomenama odem u mirovinu.
Trpanj holds a special place in my heart! I see its residents as neighbors, and many as family. We always tried to assist them— arranging medical appointments, sending packages and car parts, and delivering essentials straight to their door via ferry Pelješčanka. If they needed anything, they knew they could always call the Ploče agency. We also took special care of the children who traveled to school in Ploče. In winter, rough seas caused by jugo or bura winds would often disrupt ferry journeys, leaving the children stranded on the mainland. In such cases, we found them accomodation wherever possible, sometimes even in our own homes.
How do you spend your time in retirement? Do you miss Jadrolinija?
I’m never bored. I spend a lot of time in my garden, where I grow figs. In Ploče, I’m wellknown for my excellent dried figs. My window overlooks the ferry port, so I don’t feel like I’ve truly left. Whenever nostalgia hits, I simply look outside and see the Pelješčanka, our ‘beloved breadwinner ferry.’ My former colleagues often invite me for coffee, and I always gladly accept.
What’s the most important thing for successfully working at a Jadrolinija agency?
The key is loving what you do and always being ready to help both colleagues and passengers. My experience at Jadrolinija was incredibly positive. I communicated with agency staff up and down the coast and never lacked support and good company. Jadrolinija was everything to me, and I’m grateful for a career that brought me so much joy and allowed me to retire with beautiful memories.

Responsible business operations also include funding various sports and artistic groups, as well as events that enrich the quality of life on the islands. Odgovorno poslovanje podrazumijeva i financiranje raznih sportskih i umjetničkih skupina te manifestacija koje obogaćuju kvalitetu života na otoku. Jadrolinija sponzorira Rukometni klub Cres koji na dresu nosi njezin logotip, NK Postira – Sardi s Brača, NK Omladinac s Lastova te Korčulanski plivački klub. Podupire Udrugu mažoretkinja iz Vele Luke. Svaka osvojena medalja i fotografija s turnira nagrada je i Jadroliniji koja podupirući aktivnosti na otocima sudjeluje u nastojanjima da se stanovništvo što manje iseljava.

U protekloj godini posebnu je pozornost izazvao projekt 104 Dalmatinca, sportsko-edukativno-humanitarni projekt Dine Levačić, istaknute hrvatske maratonke i plivačke zvijezde te prve Hrvatice u Kući slavnih maratonskog plivanja (International Swimming Marathon Hall of Fame – IMSHOF) u koju je ušla kao Honor Swimmer za 2025. godinu. Dina je i višestruka državna prvakinja i osvajačica odličja na svjetskom kupu FINA Grand Prix te prva sportašica iz Hrvatske koja je osvojila Trostruku krunu maratonskog plivanja kao i Oceans Seven. Ujedno je i najmlađa žena na svijetu s Oceans Seven, čime se upisala u Guinnessovu knjigu rekorda. Dinin cilj u sklopu projekta 104 Dalmatinca, kojem se Jadrolinija s ponosom pridružila, bio je oplivati 104 otoka, otočića ili hridi u Dalmaciji, na rutama dugim 150 kilometara. Tim pothvatom željela je upozoriti na ljepote hrvatskih otoka. Projekt je imao ekološko i humanitarno značenje jer je gdje god je bilo moguće organizirano čišćenje obale, ali i podvodno čišćenje uza suradnju s roniocima. Jadrolinija proudly supported Dina’s goal of swimming around 104 islands, islets, and reefs in Dalmatia, covering 150 kilometers. Her endeavor aimed to showcase the beauty of Croatian islands while also raising ecological awareness and supporting humanitarian efforts. Whenever possible, coastal and underwater clean-ups were organized in collaboration with divers. The humanitarian component was realized through fundraising for non-profit organizations and island associations.
Ultimately, the true beneficiaries of Jadrolinija’s projects are always the island residents.

Sveti Nikola zaštitnik je pomoraca, putnika, trgovca i djece. Veza pomoraca i djece osnažuje se i djelovanjem Jadrolinije. Barba, zaštitni znak Jadrolinije i njezin dobri duh, zamišljen je kao dječje viđenje pomoraca. Barbina je osnovna uloga pobuditi osmijeh na dječjem licu.
Susreti Barbe i djece vrlo su česti, osobito tijekom vrtićkih ili školskih posjeta brodovima. Razgovori s posadom, otkrivanje pojedinosti o brodu, plovidbi i svakodnevici pomoraca izaziva oduševljenje svih uzrasta. Lani su polaznici Dječjeg vrtića Škatulica iz Dubrovnika u luci Gruž posjetili Jadrolinijin putnički brod Postira. Njihov je izlet uljepšao zapovjednik Mato koji je vesele vrtićarce proveo po brodu, pokazao im zapovjedni most i odgovarao na njihova pitanja.
Učenicima Osnovne škole Supetar na Braču u posjet je stigao plišani Barba i postao glavni lik priča u kojima su opisivali Barbu i potom ga ilustrirali. Tako je Jadrolinijin Barba postao dijelom školskog programa. Riječki predškolci rado su viđeni na katamaranu Danica, a zapovjednik Niko organizirao je podjelu posebnih diploma za možebitne buduće pomorce.
U Jadroliniji su iznimno ponosni što takvim projektima mogu najmlađima približiti brodove i pomorsku tradiciju te na društveno odgovoran način sudjelovati njegovanju privrženosti moru. Djeca nisu samo sudionici zabavnih i edukacijskih programa, nego i primatelji Jadrolinijinih donacija, kao što je bila lanjska pomoć Klinici za pedijatriju KBC Rijeka na Sušaku. Barba je posjetio male pacijente i darujući im plišance i slikovnice s njima podijelio radost Božića.
Barba, Jadrolinija’s mascot and a beloved character among children, represents a child’s vision of a seafarer. His primary role is to bring smiles to children’s faces.
Encounters between Barba and children are frequent, especially during kindergarten and school visits to ferries. Conversations with the crew, discovering the ship’s operations, and learning about the life of seafarers always spark excitement among children of all ages.
Last year, preschoolers from the Škatulica Kindergarten in Dubrovnik visited Jadrolinija’s passenger ship Postira in the Port of Gruž. Captain Mato made their trip even more special by giving them a tour of the ship, showing them the bridge, and answering their curious questions.
Students from Supetar Elementary School on Brač welcomed a plush Barba toy into their classroom and made him the protagonist of illustrated stories they created, making Barba an integral part of their school program.
Young children from Rijeka often visit the Danica catamaran, where Captain Niko organized the awarding of special diplomas— perhaps for future seafarers.
Jadrolinija takes great pride in these initiatives, as they allow children to connect with maritime traditions in a socially responsible way and develop a lifelong love for the sea.
Beyond entertainment and education, children are also recipients of Jadrolinija’s charitable donations, such as last year’s donation to the Pediatric Clinic at KBC Rijeka in Sušak. Barba personally visited young patients, bringing them plush toys and picture books to share the joy of Christmas.

Kako i kad je započeo vaš radni vijek u Jadroliniji? Moja profesionalna priča počela je 1998. godine. Nakon završetka studija proveo sam sedam godina radeći na podmornicama. Nakon raspada Jugoslavije, stekao sam dragocjeno iskustvo u tvrtki Brodospas, ploveći Mediteranom i usavršavajući se. U Jadroliniju sam stigao s velikim iskustvom, a bio sam i jedan od prvih upravitelja stroja s fakultetskim obrazovanjem. Kako su brodovi postajali sve složeniji i zahtjevniji, potreba za stručnim tehničkim znanjem bila je sve veća. Tijekom godina plovio sam na različitim tipovima brodova – od katamarana i starijih putničkih brodova do modernih trajekata, inozemne ili hrvatske gradnje.
Chief Engineer Antun Obradović will mark the end of his 27-year career at Jadrolinija this year. His rich life journey is one of the many sailing testimonies recorded in the history of our country’s largest ferry company.
How and when did your career at Jadrolinija begin?
My professional journey began in 1998. After completing my studies, I spent seven years working on submarines. Following the breakup of Yugoslavia, I gained valuable experience at the company Brodospas, sailing the Mediterranean and further refining my skills. By the time I joined Jadrolinija, I had already gained significant experience and was one of the first chief engineers with a university degree.
As ferries became increasingly complex and demanding, the need for specialized technical knowledge grew. Over the years, I’ve sailed on various types of ships—ranging from catamarans and older passenger ships to modern ferries, both foreign and Croatian-built.
On which ferry and route do you currently work, and what is your daily routine like?
I am the chief engineer on the ferry Korčula, which primarily operates the route to Vela Luka and, outside the high season, also serves Lastovo—our most remote inhabited island. The work schedule is demanding— waking up at 3:30 a.m. and resting only in the evening, sometimes not before 10 p.m.
Despite the intensity, working on this ferry is a great pleasure. The ship is spacious and comfortable, and since the journeys are long, we have the opportunity to engage with passengers and feel a deep connection to the sea and the people. The summer period presents numerous challenges, as the increased number of travelers leads to many unpredictable situations requiring quick responses. Among all Jadrolinija’s routes, this is the longest. The passengers trust the crew, and we are always at their service.
Na kojem brodu i liniji danas plovite i kakva je vaša svakodnevica?
Zapovjednik sam stroja na trajektu Korčula, koji pretežito plovi na liniji prema Veloj Luci, a izvan sezone i do Lastova, našeg najudaljenijeg naseljenog otoka. Ritam rada je zahtjevan – buđenje u 3.30 ujutro, a odmor tek navečer, katkad ne prije 22 sata. Ipak, rad na ovom trajektu donosi mi veliko zadovoljstvo. Brod je prostran i udoban, a kako su plovidbe duge, imamo priliku razgovarati s putnicima i osjetiti povezanost s morem i ljudima. Ljetno razdoblje puno je izazova, jer povećan broj putnika uzrokuje mnoge nepredvidive situacije koje zahtijevaju brzu reakciju. Među mnogim linijama Jadrolinije ova je najdulja. Putnici imaju povjerenje u posadu, a mi smo im na raspolaganju u svakoj prilici.

Do you recall any special anecdotes from your years at sea?
There have been many unforgettable moments—sometimes even a bit bizarre. One that stands out is from a night voyage on the catamaran Adriana to Pescara. We were sitting in the cockpit, monitoring the journey in the dark, when suddenly a female passenger rushed in with a torn dress. Frantically, she asked if we had a maritime ‘sewing kit’ because she urgently needed help.
Just as I was about to stand up and assist her, all the engine alarms on the control panel suddenly lit up. The lady was terrified, not understanding what was happening. Luckily, the situation was quickly brought under control, and in the end, her dress was successfully repaired.

u kokpit uletjela putnica s rasparanom haljinom. Usplahireno je pitala imamo li pomorski „kit za šivanje“ jer joj hitno treba pomoć. U trenutku kad sam se spremao ustati i pomoći joj, na kontrolnoj ploči brodskih motora iznenada su se upalili svi alarmi. Gospođa se jako uplašila, ne shvaćajući što se događa. Srećom, situacija se brzo stabilizirala, a njezina je haljina naposljetku ipak dovedena u red.
Ova epizoda potvrđuje kako je svaka plovidba nepredvidljiva i kako more može iznenaditi i najiskusnije pomorce. Katkad se dogodi da plovidba ne teče prema planu ili da brodovi kasne. Kad kasne zrakoplovi, nitko ne preispituje razloge. S brodovima je drukčije. Često na lokalnim linijama svjedočimo uznemirenosti putnika zbog kašnjenja. Tada ih moramo smirivati i podsjećati na ćudljivost mora na koju se moraju priviknuti i posade brodova, ali i putnici.
Koje biste izazove izdvojili u svom zanimanju?
Rad na brodu prepun je izazova. Strojevi se kvare, a da nije tako, ne bi bilo ni potrebe za ovim radnim mjestom. Moj tim i ja svakodnevno ulažemo trud i znanje kako bismo osigurali sigurnost i pouzdanost plovidbe. Prošla godina bila je osobito zahtjevna zbog povećane usredotočenosti javnosti na događanja u Jadroliniji. Osjetili smo taj pritisak, ali naša je dužnost ostati profesionalno uravnotežen i smiren, predan poslu i svakodnevno pokazivati što znači biti Jadrolinijin pomorac.
Kakva je Jadrolinija bila kao poslodavac?
Jadrolinija mi je pružila stabilnost, jasno strukturiran posao, zadaće i obveze, ali i prijeko potreban mir. Jedan od ključnih razloga zašto sam toliko godina ostao u kompaniji bila je mogućnost da budem u blizini obitelji, što mi je rad u Jadroliniji omogućio. Osim toga, uvijek mi je bio važan taj odnos koji Jadrolinija ima prema svojim djelatnicima. Bio sam i član radničkog vijeća i mogu reći da smo uvijek uspješno surađivali, usredotočeni na interese i potrebe djelatnika.
Što vas očekuje u mirovini? Čemu se posebno radujete i hoće li vam nedostajati plovidba?
Najviše se radujem vremenu koje ću provoditi sa svojim unukom i prilici da svoju ljubav prema brodovima prenesem na novu generaciju. Pomorci, čak i kada završe profesionalnu karijeru, nikada ne prekidaju povezanost s morem. Siguran sam da ću i ja uživati u pogledu na brodove koji isplovljavaju ili uplovljavaju u splitsku luku, ali s obale, bez obveza i odgovornosti koje su bile dio mog svakodnevnog posla. Nadam se da ću u mirovini uživati punim plućima, bez stresa i s puno vremena za obitelj i opuštanje.

This episode is just one example of how every journey is unpredictable and how the sea can surprise even the most experienced sailors. Sometimes, journeys don’t go as planned, and ferries may have some delays. When flights are late, people rarely question the reasons, but with ferries, it’s different. On local routes, passengers often get anxious over delays, and we must reassure them, reminding them of the sea’s unpredictability—which both crews and travelers must learn to adapt to.
What are the biggest challenges of your profession?
Working on a ferry is full of challenges. Machines break down, and if that weren’t the case, my job wouldn’t exist. My team and I put in daily effort and expertise to ensure safe and reliable journeys.
Last year was particularly demanding due to increased public attention on Jadrolinija’s operations. We felt the pressure, but our duty is to remain professionally composed, dedicated to our work, and to demonstrate every day what it means to be a Jadrolinija seafarer.
How would you describe Jadrolinija as an employer?
Jadrolinija provided me with stability, a clearly structured job with defined responsibilities, and, most importantly, peace of mind. One of the main reasons I remained with the company for so many years was the ability to stay close to my family, which this job allowed me to do.
Additionally, I always valued the relationship Jadrolinija maintained with its employees. I was also a member of the workers’ council, and I can say that we always worked well together, focusing on the interests and needs of the employees.
What awaits you in retirement? What are you looking forward to most, and will you miss sailing?
I am most looking forward to spending time with my grandson and passing on my love of ferries to the next generation.
Even after retiring from professional sailing, seafarers never truly break their connection with the sea. I’m sure I’ll continue to enjoy watching the ferries depart and arrive in the port of Split—but this time from the shore, without the obligations and responsibilities that were once part of my daily life.
I hope to fully enjoy my retirement, free of stress, with plenty of time for family and relaxation.

Mnogi će putnici stoga poželjeti ponoviti plovidbu koja im je ostala u trajnom sjećanju.
Međunarodne linije prema Italiji i Crnoj Gori održavaju trajekti Marko Polo i Dalmacija. Za boravka u lukama, nabavljaju se svježe namirnice, često na lokalnim tržnicama, a brodski kuhari sami peku kruh. Možda se to čini usputnim detaljem, ali putnici koji nakon noćne plovidbe iz Splita ili Ancone za doručkom osjete miris svježe pečenog kruha posebno cijene trud kojim posada pokazuje istančanu brigu za njihovo zadovoljstvo.
U jelovniku se kvalitetom ističu bolonjez i štrudla. Mnogi talijanski gosti, dolazeći iz zemlje poznate po pašti kao gastronomskom specijalitetu, kažu da je bolonjez koji su kušali na plovidbi prema Hrvatskoj bio jedan od najboljih.

Katamaran Jelena, izgrađen 2018. godine u Singapuru za potrebe Jadrolinijine flote, jedan je od najboljih brodova tog tipa na Jadranu. Nazvan je po Jeleni, supruzi kralja Mihajla Krešimira II i majci kralja Stjepana Držislava. Kraljica je bila poznata po pobožnosti i dobročinstvu, a njezina je vladavina obilježena mirom i stabilnošću. Sahranjena je u crkvi sv. Katamaran Dora, izgrađen je 1988. godine pod imenom Iris. Poslije je nazvan po hrvatskoj skladateljici i violinistici Dori Pejačević, jednoj od prvih žena koja je u Hrvatskoj skladala simfoniju, a djelovala je na prijelazu iz 19. u 20. stoljeće. Potječe iz plemićke obitelji, a glazbeni je talent pokazivala od ranog djetinjstva. Njezina glazba obuhvaća različite žanrove, primjerice komorne skladbe, pjesme za glas i klavir te orkestralna djela. Dora Pejačević ostavila je dubok trag u hrvatskoj glazbenoj povijesti, a njezino djelo prepoznato je i izvan granica Hrvatske.

The fast ship Jelena, built in 2018 in Singapore for Jadrolinija’s fleet, is one of the finest ships of its kind in the Adriatic. It is named after Queen Jelena, the wife of King Mihajlo Krešimir II and the mother of King Stjepan Držislav. Known for her piety and generosity, her reign was marked by peace and stability. She was buried in the Church of St. Mary in Solin, where an inscription was found testifying to her deeds.

Katamaran Dubravka još je jedan književni lik koji plovim Jadranom. Izgrađen je 1991. godine u Singapuru te je od 2001. dio bijele flote. „Dubravka“ je pastoralna drama Ivana Gundulića, napisana 1628. godine, kojom se slavi sloboda i idealizira život u prirodi. The fast ship Dora, originally built in 1988 under the name Iris, was later renamed after the Croatian composer and violinist Dora Pejačević. She was one of the first women in Croatia to compose a symphony and was active at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Coming from a noble family, she displayed exceptional musical talent from an early age. Her compositions include chamber music, vocal pieces for voice and piano, and orchestral works. Ahmed-paša pripremio svoju vojsku kako bi zauzeli autonomnu Poljičku Republiku, očarala ga je ljepota Mile Gojsalić pa je odlučio odgoditi napada u zamjenu za noć provedenu s ljepoticom. Ona je pristala, ali noću se iskrala iz njegova šatora i zapalila skladište baruta. Poginula je s Ahmed-pašom i njegovim vojnicima, ali je spasila Poljičku Republiku.

The fast ship Ružica honors Ružica Markobašić, a pregnant woman from Vukovar who, along with her unborn child, was brutally murdered at Ovčara in 1991 during the Croatian War of Independence.
The recently commissioned fast ship Mila is named after Mila Gojsalić, a folk heroine from Poljica. In 1530, when Ottoman leader Ahmed Pasha prepared to conquer the autonomous Republic of Poljica, he was so captivated by Mila’s beauty that he postponed the attack in exchange for a night with her. She agreed but escaped from his tent at night and set fire to the gunpowder storage. She perished along with Ahmed Pasha and his soldiers, but she saved Poljica.

Kad neki brod postane sastavnim dijelom bijele flote pobuđuje zanimanje javnosti i stručnjaka o tome gdje je izgrađen, koliko je dugo plovio i na kojim relacijama te kakva mu je bila osnovna namjena. Te se informacije objavljuju na službenim stranicama Jadrolinije i u priopćenjima pri pridruživanju broda floti, a dragocjena su i sjećanja pomoraca i radnika Jadrolinije, iskustveno povezanih s tim brodom. Ipak, mnogi će se zapitati što se događa s brodovima kad napuste bijelu flotu. Sudbina broda Perast blisko je povezana s Domovinskim ratom i pravi je primjer hrabrosti i požrtvovnosti Jadrolinijinih pomoraca. Brod je 1963. izgrađen u Malom Lošinju i gotovo 20 godina održavao je linije iz Dubrovnika prema Elafitima i Mljetu. Za otočane je bio više od broda – sumještanin i vjerni pratitelj u svakidašnjem povezivanju s kopnom, a osobito u hitnim i kriznim trenucima. Na početku Domovinskoga rata Perast je bio uključen u obranu dubrovačkog područja. Ratni brodovi i ophodni čamci Jugoslavenske ratne mornarice često su ga nadzirali tijekom plovidbe, zaustavljali i pretraživali. Kada je 1991. počeo napad na Dubrovnik i blokada dubrovačkog akvatorija, Perast je održavao svoju rutu i otočanima i stanovnicima grada Dubrovnika osiguravao pomorsku vezu s drugim dijelovima zemlje. Such details are documented on Jadrolinija’s official pages and fleet announcements, but equally valuable are the memories of seafarers and shipyard workers who were professionally and emotionally tied to the ship. However, many wonder what happens to ships once they leave the white fleet.
Like sailors, ships are born (built) and eventually retire, depending on the conditions in which they sailed, their resilience, maintenance, repurposing and sometimes due to tragic circumstances. Their destinies, akin to those of seafarers, are part of a unique maritime story tied to the sea, voyages, and maritime duties. Some have played a crucial role in Jadrolinija’s history. Together, ships, seafarers, and the sea form an inseparable bond that defines Croatia as a maritime nation.
The fate of the ship Perast is closely linked to the Homeland War, standing as a testament to the bravery and dedication of Jadrolinija’s crew. Built in 1963 in Mali Lošinj, the ship faithfully served Dubrovnik’s routes to the Elaphiti Islands and Mljet for nearly two decades. To islanders, Perast was more than just a ship—it was a steadfast companion, a lifeline to the mainland, particularly in emergencies and times of crisis.
At the beginning of the Homeland War, Perast played an active role in the defense of Dubrovnik’s maritime domain. Yugoslav Navy warships and patrol boats frequently intercepted, searched, and monitored
– odlučili su ga spasiti. Teško oštećen brod, izložen neprijateljskoj vatri, uspjeli su dotegliti u brodogradilište na Korčuli. Svi su se nadali da će brod biti obnovljen, ali je procijenjeno da je šteta prevelika pa je 2004. otegljen u rezalište u Ploče.
Priča o Perastu, nalik na priču o borbi Davida i Golijata, dirljiv je i simboličan primjer nepokolebljive borbe s nadmoćnijim agresorom u doba Domovinskoga rata. Mali putnički brod, prkoseći okupatoru, odbio je potonuti, a kraj dočekao tek kad mu više nije bilo spasa. Trajekt Ivan Zajc bio je namijenjen plovidbi na dužobalnim i međunarodnim linijama. Izgrađen je 1970. godine u Italiji, a Jadrolinijinoj floti pridružio se 1993. Tijekom plovidbe održavao je mnoge linije, no najpoznatiji je bio po povezivanju Rijeke s talijanskom Pescarom.
Godine 2009. brod je prodan turskoj kompaniji Ufuk Denizcilik iz Trabzona i preimenovan u Beşyıldız. Nakon toga, 2010. godine, prodan je kompaniji Maurico Shipping Ltd i nazvan Asaba 2. Pretpostavlja se da je poslije toga otplovio prema Ekvatorijalnoj Gvineji, a nakon 2012. izgubio mu se svaki trag.
No, nedavno su hrvatski pomorci uočili brod u brodogradilištu u Gvineji. Njegov prepoznatljiv izgled otklonio je svaku sumnju –bio je to nekadašnji Ivan Zajc. Iako je sudbina broda nakon 2012. godine bila nepoznata, najnovije otkriće pruža uvid u njegovu neobičnu sudbinu koja se – čini se – nastavlja.
Tako je Ivan Zajc, nakon što je plovio Jadranom i Crnim morem, plovidbu završio u zapadnoj Africi, ostavljajući u sjećanjima pomoraca, putnika i povijesti Jadrolinije neizbrisiv trag.
it during its voyages. When the siege of Dubrovnik began in 1991, Perast courageously maintained its course, ensuring a vital maritime link for islanders and the city’s besieged residents. The ship’s voyage ended in Slano. Enemy forces attacked it with great force, piercing its hull with a tank shell and sparked a devastating fire. Yet, even then, Perast resisted sinking.
Despite enormous risk, Croatian Navy special forces launched a daring mission to save the stricken ship. Under persistent enemy fire, they managed to tow it to a shipyard on Korčula island. While hopes were high for its restoration, the damage was ultimately deemed irreparable. In 2004, Perast was towed to the scrapyard in Ploče.
The story of Perast, much like the tale of David and Goliath, remains a poignant and symbolic example of unwavering resistance against a vastly superior aggressor. This humble passenger ship, defying its fate, refused to sink until there was no hope left. Perast and its crew represent just one chapter in the Homeland War, yet they stand as an enduring symbol of resilience and defiance in Croatia’s most challenging times.

Parobrod Karagjorgje, poslije nazvan Proleterka, bio je jedan od najvećih parobroda koji su ikad plovili Jadranskim morem. Održavao je vrlo popularne dužobalne linije. Često su ga nazivali i biserom Jadrana jer je bio je raskošan, kraljevski brod. Izgrađen je 1913. godine u Velikoj Britaniji, a u more je porinut pod nazivom Visegrad (Visegrád). in 1970, it joined Jadrolinija’s fleet in 1993. Throughout its service, it maintained several routes, but it was best known for connecting Rijeka with Pescara, Italy.
In 2009, the ship was sold to the Turkish company Ufuk Denizcilik from Trabzon and renamed Beşyıldız. A year later, it was sold again to Maurico Shipping Ltd. and renamed Asaba 2. Reports suggest it, that ship later sailed towards Equatorial Guinea, where traces of it disappeared after 2012.
However, Croatian seafarers recently spotted the ship in a Guinean shipyard. Its recognizable design left no doubt—it was the former Ivan Zajc. Though its fate after 2012 remained unknown, this recent discovery sheds new light on its unusual journey, proving that its story continues.
Thus, after navigating the Adriatic and the Black Sea, Ivan Zajc ultimately found itself in West Africa, leaving an indelible mark in the memories of seafarers, passengers, and the annals of Jadrolinija’s history.
KARAGJORGJE
The steamship Karagjorgje, later renamed Proleterka, was one of the largest steam-powered ships to ever sail the Adriatic. Known for its elegant design and grandeur, it was often referred to as the “Pearl of the Adriatic” and it operated on popular costal routes.
zaplovio jer je počeo Prvi svjetski rat pa su ga vlasnici – unatoč njegovim impozantnim dimenzijama – sakrili. Nakon završetka rata parobrod Visegrad pripao je kompaniji Jadranska plovidba d.d. na Sušaku i preimenovan u Karagjorgje.
Bio je to najbolji brod na istočnoj obali Jadrana. Osim za prijevoz putnika, koristio se i kao brod za kružna turistička putovanja Jadranom i istočnim Mediteranom. Bio je iznimno čvrste konstrukcije pa je 1930. godine bez težih oštećenja izdržao sudar s talijanskim brodom Francesco Morosini u Pašmanskom kanalu. Nakon nesreće popravljen je i moderniziran u Tivtu pa je nastavio ploviti bez kvarova i zastoja sve do 1941. godine, kad se u šibenskom akvatoriju, na čudan način, sudbina poigrala s njim.
Četiri dana prije početka Drugoga svjetskog rata najljepši parni brodovi Jadrana, Karadjordje i Prestolonaslednik Petar, pri plovidbi iz Prvićkog kanala prema Zlarinu, naletjeli su na mine i potonuli na više od 50 metara dubine. Bili su to posljednji bijeli brodovi Kraljevine Jugoslavije. Oba su broda ležala na dnu mora jedanaest godina. Nova država, socijalistička Jugoslavija, odlučila ih je izvući s dna i obnoviti. Dotad neviđen pokušaj izvlačenja golemih brodova s tako velike dubine počeo je 1951. godine, i potrajao gotovo dvije godine. Oba su broda uspješno izvučena iz mora zahvaljujući stručnjacima splitskog Brodospasa, što su zabilježili i svjetski mediji. Nakon detaljne obnove i modernizacije ponovno su zaplovili pod novim imenom – Proleterka i Partizanka. Brod Karadjordje preimenovan u Proleterku sigurno i pouzdano plovio je do 1969. godine, kad se nasukao na hrid Mišine ispred otoka Murtera. Ostao je nasukan do 1970. godine, a pretrpio je takva oštećenja da ga se više nije isplatilo popravljati pa je dotegljen je u Brodospasovo rezalište Sveti Kajo.
Built in 1913 in the United Kingdom and originally launched as Visegrad, the ship did not immediately set sail due to the outbreak of World War I. Its owners concealed it despite its impressive size. As the finest ship on the eastern Adriatic coast, it served both as a passenger liner and a cruise ship for journeys through the Adriatic and Eastern Mediterranean. In 1930, its robust construction was put to the test when it collided with the Italian ship Francesco Morosini in the Pašman Channel, sustaining minimal damage. Following repairs and modernization, Karagjorgje continued sailing until 1941, when fate dealt a cruel hand in the waters near Šibenik.
Just four days before World War II, two of the Adriatic’s most beautiful steamships, Karagjorje and Prestolonaslednik Petar, struck a mine while sailing from Prvić Channel towards Zlarin, and they sank to a depth of over 50 meters. They lay at the bottom of the sea for eleven years. In 1951, the socialist Yugoslav government launched an ambitious effort to recover it. The salvage operation, an unprecedented feat, took nearly two years and captured international media attention. Thanks to experts of the Split-based company Brodospas, both ships were successfully repaired. Following extensive restoration and modernization, they sailed again under new names – Proleterka and Partizanka
The ship Karagjorgje, renamed Proleterka continued sailing reliably until 1969, when it ran aground on the Mišine reef off the Murter island. It remained stranded until 1970 and the damage was beyond repair so it was towed to the Sveti Kajo scrapyard, owned by the Split-based company Brodospas.
Poseban je kuriozitet što je ime broda Karadjordje – ali i svih brodova Jadranske plovidbe – na desnoj strani pramca bilo ispisano ćirilicom, a na lijevoj latinicom.

Brod Mostar izgrađen je 1955. godine u pulskom brodogradilištu Uljanik za Jadroliniju. Bio je dio serije od četiriju brodova – uz Mostar građeni su Osijek, Novi Sad i Maribor – naručenih potkraj 1953. Ti su brodovi bili namijenjeni dužobalnoj i međunarodnoj plovidbi, a svojim su kapacitetom i brzinom bili ogledni predstavnici bijele flote.
Nakon jedanaest godina službe u Jadrolinijinoj floti, Mostar je 1966. prodan grčkom brodovlasniku Christosu Coulouvatosu. Preimenovan je u Meltemi I i korišten za jednodnevna krstarenja grčkim arhipelagom. U grčkoj floti ostao je 17 godina, nakon čega je prodan i preimenovan u Apollo I, nastavljajući plovidbu Egejskim morem. Četiri godine poslije otplovio je na – Temzu. Preuzela ga je tvrtka Arbuthnot Leasing International te je postao okupljalište londonske elite. Na njemu su uređeni luksuzni saloni i kabine, restoran i barovi, konferencijska dvorana. Mostar je nakon toga doživio neobičnu transformaciju – preuređen je u plutajuću izložbu luksuznog namještaja. Ta jedinstvena prenamjena omogućila mu je da se nađe u posve novoj ulozi, predstavljajući visokokvalitetan namještaj na jedinstven i inovativan način.
Danas, više od šest desetljeća nakon porinuća, Mostar i dalje plovi morima svijeta, sada kao luksuzna megajahta za 12 osoba.
Svaki brod ima svoju zanimljivu i neobičnu priču. Priče ovih brodova svjedoče o raznovrsnoj i katkad dramatičnoj povijesti pomorstva na Jadranu. Iako im je sudbina bila različita, zajedničko im je to što su ostavili neizbrisiv trag u sjećanjima pomoraca i otočana koji su ih smatrali dijelom svoje svakodnevice.

A curious detail is that the ship’s name was inscribed in Cyrillic on the starboard side and in Latin script on the port side, a unique hallmark of Jadranska Plovidba’s fleet.
The passenger ship Mostar was built in 1955 at the Uljanik shipyard in Pula. It was part of a series of four ships —including Osijek, Novi Sad, and Maribor—ordered in late 1953. These ships were intended for coastal and international voyages, due to their capacity and speed, made it a prime representative of the white fleet.
After serving in Jadrolinija’s fleet for eleven years, Mostar was sold in 1966 to Greek shipowner Christos Coulouvatos, who renamed it Meltemi I and repurposed it for one-day cruises around the Greek archipelago. It remained in the Greek fleet for 17 years before being sold and renamed Apollo I, continuing it voyages across the Aegean Sea. Four years later, it sailed to the River Thames, where it was transformed into a floating venue for London’s elite under the name Prince Albert. Mostar underwent another remarkable transformation, becoming a floating exhibition for luxury furniture. This new repurpose allowed it to take on a new role, showcasing high-end furnishings in an innovative manner.
Today, more than six decades after its launch, Mostar still sails the seas, reborn as a luxury mega-yacht accommodating 12 guests.
Every ship has a unique and compelling story. The tales of these ships witness to the diverse and, at times, dramatic history of Adriatic maritime affairs. Though their fates varied, they all left an indelible mark in the memories of seafarers and islanders who considered them part of their daily lives.

Prva B2Run utrka održana je 2015. godine u zagrebačkom Parku Maksimir i tada je na njoj trčalo 1000 poslovnih ljudi. Sljedeće godine, osim u Zagrebu, trčalo se i u Rijeci, Splitu i Osijeku. Danas je to najmasovnija korporativna utrka u kojoj godišnje sudjeluje oko 10 000 zaposlenika iz više od 530 kompanija. Počelo je tako da su Dijana i Viktor Vetturelli, u povodu 10. obljetnice osnutka tvrtke Vetturelli, aktivne u B2B sektoru i specijalizirane za organizacijsko i komunikacijsko savjetovanje, zamislili proslavu drukčiju od uobičajenih domjenaka. S obzirom na to da tvrtka Vetturelli pomaže kompanijama u transformacijskim procesima i utječe na poboljšanje korporativne kulture, htjeli su poslovnoj zajednici predložiti program povezan s njihovim područjem djelovanja. Croatia’s largest corporate race, B2Run, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Jadrolinija joined this massive business-recreational event with its running team in 2022.
The first B2Run race took place in 2015 at Maksimir Park in Zagreb, with 1,000 business professionals hitting the track. By the following year, the race had expanded to Rijeka, Split, and Osijek. Today, it is the most attended corporate race in Croatia, gathering around 10,000 employees from over 530 companies annually. It all started when Dijana and Viktor Vetturelli, marking the 10th anniversary of their consulting firm, Vetturelli, conceived an alternative to the usual corporate receptions.
Since their company specializes in organizational and communication consulting, they wanted to introduce the business community to a concept aligned with their expertise. This gave the idea of an active after-work gathering, B2Run, that within three years, became part of the global B2Run corporate race series. Besides its presence in four Croatian cities, B2Run is also held in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, Greece, Switzerland, Portugal, and Romania.

„Promatrajući utrku B2Run s distance, mogla bih zaključiti da je to najveća marketinška platforma u Hrvatskoj. Ne postoji ni jedno drugo mjesto na kojem ćete vidjeti gotovo 600 brendova na majicama nekoliko tisuća ljudi. Na svakom događaju, neovisno o tome bio u Rijeci, Splitu, Osijeku ili Zagrebu, odvojim pola sata i pomno promatram sudionike, ozračje i vizualni identitet timova” kaže Dijana Vetturelli.
Idealan je dan za utrku – četvrtak nakon posla. „To je optimalan afterwork termin, kako bi vikendi ostali rezervirani za obitelj i privatna druženja. Uzbuđenje u tvrtkama među kolegama koji sudjeluju na B2Runu osjeća se mjesecima prije utrke. Zaposlenici imaju zajedničku temu koja nije vezana za posao, razgovara se o pripremama, dogovaraju se zajednički treninzi, smišljaju slogani na majicama, skenira se konkurencija, nagovara ostale da se pridruže“, ističu u Vetturelli timu.

The perfect day for the race? Thursday after work. “It’s the optimal after-work timing, keeping weekends free for family and personal time. The excitement among colleagues builds up months in advance—discussions about preparations, joint training sessions, team slogans for shirts, scoping out the competition, and convincing others to join in,” says the Vetturelli team.
The number of participants continues to grow year after year, with a 15-20% increase after the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, Jadrolinija became part of this running community in June 2022 and has been a regular participant. This year, Jadrolinija is preparing for its fourth run at B2Run Rijeka. In 2023, the gender ratio among runners was 47% women and 53% men, a balance that has remained consistent over the years. However, within Jadrolinija, the numbers tell a different story. Despite being a traditionally male-dominated company, its running team is led by women from finance, IT, marketing, and procurement. Broj sudionika utrke B2Run raste iz godine u godinu, a nakon pandemije bolesti COVID-19 zabilježen je porast od 15 do 20 posto. Jadrolinija se trkačkoj zajednici priključila nakon završetka pandemije u lipnju 2022. godine. Otad Jadrolinija redovito sudjeluje na B2Runu, a ove se godine priprema za četvrti nastup u sklopu B2Run Rijeka. U 2023. godini u B2Run utrci sudjelovalo je 47 posto žena i 53 posto muškaraca, a taj se omjer zadržao tijekom svih dosadašnjih godina. U Jadroliniji je omjer bitno drugačiji. Iako Jadrolinija slovi kao većinski muška tvrtka, iznimno se ponosi što u njezinom trkačkom timu prevladavaju žene iz područja financija, informatike, marketinga i nabave. Muški kolege većinom su iz područja korporativne sigurnosti, unutarnje kontrole, razvoja flote i kadrovske službe. Jadrolinijin trkački tim uvijek teži boljem te se nada da je upravo 2025. – njihova trkačka godina.
Korporativni team building ili „osnaživanje tima“ nije baš najomiljeniji oblik druženja zaposlenika. O takvom „prisilnom“ zbližavanju moglo bi se štošta napisati. Neki misle da bi se trebao održavati u radno vrijeme. Drugi pak predlažu vikend, ali su mnogi protiv toga. Neki upozoravaju da druženje s ostalim zaposlenicima ne bi trebalo nametati ako oni sami to ne žele. Cilj organizatora utrke B2Run zapravo je druženje nakon posla i povezivanje s drugim kolegama, u popodnevnim satima, nakon radnog vremena. S obzirom na to da okuplja više od 10 000 zaposlenika u četiri hrvatska grada, očito je posrijedi dobro prihvaćeno okupljanje.
„Trčanje na utrci B2Run samo je alat kojim želimo potaknuti ljude iz poslovne zajednice na druženje. Tvrtke se različitim aktivnostima trude pridonositi stvaranju radnog okruženja koje potiče osjećaj pripadnosti i potpore svim članovima tima. Mogli bismo reći kako su pripadnost i blagostanje isprepleteni i ključni za stvaranje poticajne radne kulture i uspješnosti, produktivnosti i zadovoljstva, a sve je to uklopljeno u duh ove utrke“, smatraju u hrvatskoj B2Run organizaciji.
B2Run Rijeka ove se godine održava 5. lipnja u 18 sati, a tim Jadrolinije dat će sve od sebe da obrani boje mora i bijele flote. Tko zna – možda će trkački klub ove godine okupiti najviše zaposlenika dosad, od kojih se netko možda nađe i na postolju. Jadrolinijina je krilatica „Odmor počinje na brodu“, a slogan najmasovnije poslovne utrke mogao bi biti „Prava utrka počinje nakon posla“.

Corporate team building—or "strengthening the team"—is not always the most popular form of employee bonding. Some argue it should take place during work hours, while others propose weekends, though many oppose that idea. Some believe that socializing with colleagues shouldn’t be mandatory. The goal of B2Run, however, is precisely to create an opportunity for after-work gathering in the early evening hours. With over 10,000 employees gathering across four Croatian cities, the event has clearly been embraced.
“Running at B2Run is just a tool to encourage the business community to connect. Companies use different activities to create a work environment that fosters a sense of belonging and support. We could say that belonging and well-being are intertwined, playing a key role in creating a positive work culture, increasing productivity, and overall job satisfaction—all of which are embedded in the spirit of this race,” says the Croatian B2Run organization.
B2Run Rijeka takes place this year on June 5 at 6:00 PM, and the Jadrolinija team will give their all to defend the colors of the sea and the white fleet. Who knows—this might be the year they gather their largest team yet, with someone even landing on the podium.
Jadrolinija’s motto is “Your Vacation Starts on Board,” and for the country’s largest corporate race, the perfect slogan could be: “The Real Race Begins After Work.”

More than 500 guides from around the world cycled from Dubrovnik to Split, passing through Korčula and Hvar, where they were given a spectacular welcome. A special highlight of their journey was traveling on Jadrolinija’s ferry Bartol Kašić

Tijekom ljetnih mjeseci Backroads organizira mnoga putovanja po Hrvatskoj pa se njihov prošlogodišnji team building održavao upravo u Hrvatskoj. Više od 500 vodiča iz cijelog svijeta bicikliralo je od Dubrovnika, preko Korčule i Hvara do Splita.
„Iskustvo plovidbe brodom Bartol Kašić bilo je spektakularno. Od trenutka kad se naša skupina od gotovo 500 zaposlenika Backroadsa ukrcala u Veloj Luci, brodom je zavladalo veselo raspoloženje. Ploveći prema Hvaru, uzbuđenje se povećavalo, ali neočekivan dolazak nije se mogao ni naslutiti. Zahvaljujući snažnoj potpori Grada Hvara, uspjeli smo pristati u gradu Hvaru, s obzirom na to da nijedan trajekt to nije učinio godinama“, opisao je plovidbu Jason Stawiski, jedan od organizatora Backroads putovanja za zaposlenike.
Uplovljavanje u hvarsku luku oborilo ih je s nogu.
„Dok je Bartol Kašić uplovljavao u luku, prizor je bio nezaboravan. Sunce je sjalo, Jadran je blistao, a zabavljao nas je trubački bend. Plesali smo, smijali se i slavili, a mještani i turisti su se okupili duž obale kako bi svjedočili neočekivanom događaju“, nastavlja Stawinski prepričavati nezaboravno hvarsko iskustvo.
Ekipa Backroadsa zahvalna je Gradu Hvaru i Jadroliniji jer su im omogućili jedinstven dolazak u grad Hvar. Hvar ih je osvojio šarmom, živahnim ozračjem i iznimno zanimljivom povijesti. Nakon istraživanja otoka bili su spremni za nove pustolovine.

During the summer months, Backroads organizes numerous trips in Croatia, making it the chosen location for last year’s team-building event. More than 500 guides from around the world cycled from Dubrovnik, through Korčula and Hvar, before reaching Split.
"The experience of sailing aboard Bartol Kašić was spectacular. From the moment our group of nearly 500 Backroads employees boarded in Vela Luka, a lively atmosphere took over the ferry. As we sailed toward Hvar, the excitement grew, but no one could have anticipated our unexpected arrival. Thanks to the strong support of the City of Hvar, we were able to dock in Hvar Town, something no ferry had done in years," described Jason Stawiski, one of the organizers of Backroads' employee trips.
Arriving at Hvar’s port left them in awe.
"As Bartol Kašić entered the harbor, the sight was unforgettable. The sun was shining, the Adriatic glistened, and a brass band entertained us. We danced, laughed, and celebrated while locals and tourists gathered along the waterfront to witness the unexpected event," Stawiski continued, recounting the unforgettable experience in Hvar.
The Backroads team is grateful to the City of Hvar and Jadrolinija for enabling their unique arrival in Hvar Town. The island captivated them with its charm, vibrant atmosphere, and fascinating history. After exploring Hvar, they were ready for new adventures.
