The Water
Garden
water as a reflection Rome, Italy

This project entails designing a playground within the Villaggio Olimpico, giving it a program of our own that would be suitable for the people of Rome.
Upon visiting the site, I noticed that there was an exisiting fountain which wasn’t in use and based on my observation from the past weeks that I’ve been studying in Rome, I realized how water as an element was very important to Rome. This could be seen with the presence of numerous foutains (decorative, monumental or for drinking), bath houses that were well known in the ancient Rome and the aquaducts that were very import ant to the city. On the other hand, it is forbidden by law for one to go into these foutains.
I decided to create a conceptual space for an interactive water garden/play ground within the Villaggio Olimpico. By creating this design, visitors will have the opportunity to engage with water in a playful and refreshing way, all while honoring Rome’s rich history and cultural heritage. The design aims to transform the existing fountain into a dynamic space that goes beyond aesthetics, providing a truly memorable experience for adults in Rome

Post Extractive Assemblies
The Playscape | Fabric + Brick
Fast fashion isn’t design to last and that’s one of the problems contributing to environmental damage such as water pollution by dumping into rivers and streams and air pollution by burning these clothes item. I thought choosing fabric woudld e a good way to upcycle and using them as a new material. in the built environment. I looked at two ways to assembly this material.
- Quilting: this is done by disassembling the clothes to their original pattern pieces and then stitcihing them all together to form a larger tensile material.
- Weaving: this was done by cutting each piece of clothing in stripes and then knotiing them to get longer lengths and then finally weaving all these strips together to form a unique knotted weaving with would have a nice texture.
