Univision Names Steven Males Vice President, Affiliate Marketing. Entertainment Editors/Business Editors LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 15, 2004 Univision Communications Inc. (NYSE: UVN), the country's leading Spanish-language media company, today announced that Steven Males has been appointed Vice President of Affiliate marketing online for the Univision Networks, effective immediately. Males will be responsible for the strategic marketing of the Univision, TeleFutura and Galavision networks to the cable and satellite industries to broaden coverage and increase viewership. Located in New York, Males will are accountable to Tim Krass, Executive Vice President, Affiliate Relations. "Steven comes with an impressive background in strategic marketing within the media industry and we're very happy to welcome someone of his caliber to the Univision family, " said Krass. "Steven's strong business acumen and extensive working knowledge of the cable television industry may help us to bolster our affiliate relationships to better serve the rapidly growing U. S. " Prior to joining Univision, Males was Vice President, Affiliate Marketing, at Comedy Central, where that he oversaw the development of comprehensive marketing plans for many distributors that supported the network's positioning, programming, and brand identity, created English and Spanish Video on Demand and Free on Demand, and launched the community affairs initiative, Comedy RX, which won the CTAM Gold Mark Award. From 1994-1997, he was Marketing Director and Regional Director for the Northeast Region at MTV Networks where he was responsible for all cable affiliate distribution, marketing, local advertising sales, and financial services for the Northeast Region. From 1989-1994, Males served as Pay-Per-View Manager, where he launched the first PPV channels in Manhattan, after which Director of Marketing at Time Warner Cable of New York City, where he developed all acquisition, upgrade, retention and community outreach campaigns and helped create an on-time guarantee image campaign, which was adopted by the NCTA. Males also has experience working in marketing for Cablevision Systems, Viacom Cable and Cox Cable, among others. Males is a person in the Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM), Cable Television Public Affairs Association (CTPAA), Cable Advertising Bureau (CAB) and Cable Positive, an industry association dedicated to raising AIDS awareness. He received an MBA in Marketing and Finance from Emory University in 1984 and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Rochester in 1982.
