My love of land originated in the front yard of my childhood home with my grandmother. She suffered from Rheumatoid arthritis and was confined to a wheelchair - I was her hands in the garden. This love of land has followed me throughout my life and continues to inspire me. Additionally, architecture always captivated my mind and continues to be a source of interest for me. I was fortunate to take classical architecture classes taught through my high school co-op which taught me the value of clear articulation of detail in design. In my early 20’s I had the opportunity to work for a pool company, and I was amazed at the degree of landscape design achievable. I realized that it is the landscape that gives a frame and a sense-ofplace for architecture to find its home. It is clear that the field of landscape architecture found me and continues to reveal itself to me in ways I never would have considered. I am excited to learn more and contribute to the crafting of space that honors people, ecology, and land.

FARMSTEAD
It was apparent when walking the site that homes needed to be sited on the natural ridges occupying the western half of the property. This choice provided the ability to create communal and residential zones that are united by a monumental sculpture at the top of the central knoll. Home and driveway siting is further chosen based on the attempt to preserve as many existing tree clusters as possible. As the community plans to incorporate sustainable farming into its mission, a pecan orchard and vegetable garden are suggested as entry features. The barns on site are existing features so vehicular circulation is implemented to unite the structures into the overall program. In keeping with the sense of rurality, a simple pool is proposed with mown grass as decking.

FARMSTEAD masterplan + residence
The site is a parcel of undeveloped land south of Atlanta, GA in Chattahoochee Hills Country - an area with zoning requirements committed to the preservation of 70% of land as forest or farm. The project required the siting of five homes with septic fields and a landscape design for one of the sited homes. Considerations were to preserve a sense of rurality, create spaces for community, and limit the amount of impact on the land.

FARMSTEAD RESIDENCE
The design stems from the desire to preserve as much land as possible. The land is the focal feature; therefore, the design is composed to provide clear, calm, and concise structure to stand juxtaposed to the rolling land. Outdoor rooms are framed with minimal wall plane to provide a sense of refuge without detracting from the wide dimensionality of the place. Precedence is taken from the work of Andrea Cochran and James Doyle Design Associates.
Personal pools are not allowed in Chattahoochee Hills, GA. The water feature is meant both as visual feature and cooling source during the hot and humid Georgia summers.

The clients are a family of four. They stipulated the need for a variety of garden spaces for different activitiesspecifically required was a play lawn for their children, a pool, a vegetable garden, and an outdoor space to entertain guests. The proposed architecture has a variety of textures and colors. This inspired the choice of a rich planting palette, while also inspiring contradictory crisp articulate forms to express simplicity and clarity of space. Evident axial relationships between spaces are employed to suggest movement and legibility.

The proposed design is for a street in Athens, GA that was permanently closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. The design directly correlates to the analysisspecifically behavior mapping. It is vital that the space functions as a pedestrian corridor between UGA’s campus and downtown Athens. To create a dynamic program that assists with movement through the site, the design considers how people currently move through the space. Water is employed to draw people into the space and organic forms are utilized to juxtapose the rigid downtown plan.

TYBEE ISLAND back river resilience
Tybee Island continues to suffer from flooding due to sea level rise and storm surge. The “Back River Study” is an ongoing partnership between UGA and Tybee Island. This project was the final phase of a semester-long class project focusing on the inland side of the island. After island wide inventory + analysis was completed collectively, each student was given a different area of the island to focus on which was aggregated into an ArcGIS story map and shared with Tybee Island city officials. The graphics here display the solutions for one section of the island.

PROJECTED SEA LEVEL RISE
The NOAA data showcase projected sea level rise and nuisance flooding, which is becoming a typical tidal event. Unfortunately, homes have been constructed within the marsh that continue to suffer from recurrent flooding. Miller Avenue functions as the boundary of the marsh. The solution presented is to raise Miller Avenue eight feet and extend it from 6th Avenue down to a proposed horizontal levee and retention area beginning at 11th Street. This will prevent the current nuisance flooding from extending further into the island as well as prepare the island for sea-level rise into 2100. The ROW and parcels to the left show property that is either owned by the city or would pose an easy acquisition by the city. Residents in the properties not identified here could receive a tax inducement through a pedestrian easement to complete the rest of the solutions. The solution presented aims to respect the homeowners wishes to remain in their current homes, increase connectivity throughout the island, and create resources for eco-tourism.
