FLEECE Our NANUK fleece clothing utilises advanced fabric technology. All of the NANUK versions share the common attributes of very good warmth-to-weight performance, durability and pill resistance. They are also extremely breathable, quick drying and easy-care.
NANUK MICRO SL: This is the lightest of our microfleece fabrics and sets the reference standards for pack size and warmth-to-weight performance. It has a textured velour structure on both sides and is around 33 % lighter than TECNOPILE MICRO (see below).
How warm a NANUK fleece is depends on two things: the material weight and the construction technique.
NANUK 100 BASIC: This lightweight, 100-weight velour fleece is ideal for very light and packable fleece clothing. It offers very good warmth-to-weight performance and effective moisture management properties, dries quickly and is low maintenance.
As a general rule, the thicker and heavier a fleece is, the warmer it is. The pack size and the wind resistant performance increase with the material weight. The fleeces in our collection are categorized by their material weight: 100, 150, 200 and 300. The numbers are often incorporated into the name of the fleece, e.g. NANUK 200. It is not possible to assign a definitive temperature rating to these fleeces, since the overall insulation performance when combined with a shell jacket or other outerwear is significantly higher than when the fleece is worn without a windproof layer. As a rough guide, microfleeces and 100-weight fleeces are suitable for warmer temperatures and for sweat inducing activities; they are very light and pack able. 150-weight fleeces deliver medium range insulation and are thus extremely versatile. And if you require more protection from the cold, you should opt for a 200-weight fleece, our heaviest material weight for summer use.
YOU WILL FIND THE FOLLOWING FLEECE FABRICS IN OUR SUMMER COLLECTION: NANUK ATHLETIC Q.M.C.: This very light, 100-weight fleece has a special reverse side made from Q.M.C. fibres and thus delivers active moisture management. These fibres wick moisture quickly away from the body to the outer surface of the fabric, where it can evaporate effectively. For this reason, we use this fleece for jackets designed for highly aerobic activities.
NANUK 150: This 150-weight velour fleece offers medium range insulation and is still comfortable to wear during the transitional seasons. NANUK 150 WAFFLE: The waffle structure gives this fleece a more compact pack size and better insulation performance than classic NANUK 150. It is also very breathable, quick drying and low maintenance. NANUK 200: With its robust velour structure, this warm, 200-weight fleece is the classic all-rounder. It is extremely versatile and has an insulation performance that is ideal for a whole range of activities. NANUK 200 HIGHLOFT: The longer pile of the highloft structure traps more air for insulation, which means this fleece is warmer than normal NANUK 200, at a similar weight. It delivers exceptionally good warmth-to-weight performance and has a relatively compact pack size. NANUK 200 SILKLOFT: We use this fleece primarily in women’s jackets. It has an extremely smooth feel and a silky shimmer. Thanks to its long-pile structure it is also warmer than the NANUK 200 version yet packs up smaller. TECNOPILE MICRO: Our all-time classic GECKO fleece pullovers are made of this ultra lightweight, high quality, velour structure microfleece. Its light insulation spec makes it ideal for fast & light activities any time of year and its compact pack size means it will fit into practically any rucksack.
NANUK DYNAMIC: A dual stretch fleece used in the form of active stretch inserts to enhance the freedom of movement of the jacket. The outer side consists of an extremely dense, wind-resistant jersey knit, while the fluffy velour fleece on the reverse side provides exceptional insulation and a compact structure.

THE SYSTEM ZIP Jackets equipped with our signature System Zip can be upgraded by docking them with a second jacket. They are therefore highly versatile, since they can be worn solo or combined. The zip comes in three different lengths (the zips on the shell jacket and inner jacket must be of the same length).
The jackets are docked by zipping them together and additionally secured with attachment loops on the collar and cuffs to prevent slippage and bunching. When not zipped into a shell jacket, our system fleece jackets are zipped closed in the normal way, using the System Zip. The corresponding models are featured on the following pages and their inter-compatibility is shown by the appropriate System Zip logo.
REGULAR SYSTEM ZIP: for jackets with a normal or slightly longer cut, e.g. our TEXAPORE trekking jackets and selected models from our range of hiking jackets
System jackets made from our TEXAPORE weatherproof shell fabrics or softshell fabrics are equipped with two zips: the normal front zip (used to zip the jacket closed in the normal way) and a System Zip (for zip-in compatibility with an inner jacket). You will find the corresponding men’s jackets on pages 48 - 52, 72 - 74 and 79. The women’s jackets are featured on pages 58f, 90, 96 and 107.
SHORT SYSTEM ZIP: for jackets with a shorter, (cropped) cut, e.g. most of our TEXAPORE hiking jackets
Note: The System Zip has remained unchanged in its current form since 1998 and the design has also been future-proofed. This means that you will be able to find an appropriate upgrade option for your older system jacket.
KIDS SYSTEM ZIP: for our FAMILY collection
