DULAN’S COMMUNITY CULINARY SCHOOL
Dulan’s on Crenshaw has been generationally owned and is a well liked meet up spot in the community. This close knit community and the trust among each other is the main idea behind this concept. The space is an abstract alteration of a typical cooking school that includes an outdoor cafe area that visitors can taste the food that is cooked here.
The site is located next to Dulan’s restaurant on 4869 Crenshaw Blvd, Los Angeles. The space will be used as a community school to teach culinary arts. The programs include a kitchen, shared oven space, market styled pantry, and an outdoor cafe.

“WEAVING”
EDUCATIONAL CENTER OF ARTS AND CRAFTS
This studio was focused on designing a building in an urban environment in the context of Downtown Los Angeles. This segment of Downtown LA, along the South Broadway corridor is one of the oldest portions of LA. Some buildings have been remodeled and adapted; old office buildings turned into loft condominiums, apartment buildings were turned into fancy hotels.
This multi-use building will be used as an arts and crafts school with programs such as classrooms, fabrication shops, and stores to sell the school items to the public as well as dorms to house students. The nature of the program is to adhere to the notion that density is a better alternative to urban sprawl and that combining uses in a single building creates oppurtunities for interdisciplinary synergy that allows different areas to learn and benefit from one another.

SITE CONCEPT
This building is located on a corner intersection that faces a dead end street. By facing the programs towards this unused space allows for more activity and safety for the students. This provides privacy and reduces any noise coming from the main street. This side street also provides a drop off zone for students and or delivery vehicles.
