Sixteen year old Makeda really hates her mother. She won't learn English and she won't talk to the interpreter. One day Makeda's mother wants her to straighten her hair, the next day she wants to braid it. Makeda wants to go out with her boyfriend but her mother wants her to stay at home to help shopping, cleaning and cooking. Why does her mother keep making excuses to stop her best friend from coming over for coffee? As if that wasn't enough, Makeda has to go with her mother to the doctor to find out why her mother is tired all the time. Can Makeda and her mother's generational issues be resolved?
‘Makeda’s Story’ is also a story about Hepatitis B for Ethiopians and others living in Australia.
