The two trends I decided to focus on for my forecasting lookbook are maxi skirts and women’s streetwear. I intentionally styled the looks in a streetwear context that incorporated the color palette of my chosen mural. Additionally, I featured a maxi skirt in look three. In my opinion, maxi skirts are a rising macro trend referencing mid 2000s style, and in response to the looming economic recession. Maxi skirts can be styled in modest, mature, layered, or simple fashions. In my opinion, women’s streetwear is still rising in the fashion cycle. The target audience for both of these trends is young women ages 18-26. I see both of these trends continuing to rise.
When creating this project I chose the Whale mural created by Joe Pagac located on Campbell and Grant. Unfortunately there is a Starbucks being built in front of the mural so Professor Simpara allowed me to take my pictures in a studio. To incorporate the theme of the mural in my photos, I edited the purple color into the background.
