CHAPTER HISTORY
The history of the Dallas Chapter of Jack and Jill is special and unique in that the charter members of the Chapter joined forces ten years earlier to form The Child Study Club before it became an affiliate of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., in 1953. Mrs. Blanche Davis conceived and initiated the idea of The Child Study Club with twelve members and with Mrs. Davis serving as the charter president. Originally the club consisted of mothers of pre-school children who aimed through study to learn more about their children and the role parents play in the development of the whole child. Often fathers and mothers attended meetings together to hear expert consultants when the discussion was vital to both of them. Fathers, mothers and children joined together for Family Christmas parties, Family Easter Egg rolls and picnics.
Community service is the cornerstone of how we give back in the Dallas Chapter, we particate in the annual Dallas’ Mayors Back to School Fair, and varous giving opportunities to local and national non profit organizations. Families that work together stay together, the Dallas chapter has a strong fathers auxillary that helps host the annual Jack and Jill PicNic and very supportive of our Dallas Chapter Christmas Brunch. The Dallas Chapter hosts an anuual Beautillion (this year makes the 43rd) that promotes Leadership, Community Service and Scholarship for highschool seniors both members of Jack and Jill as well as membres of the community in which we live. The chapter is known for its giving and its annual Foundation Teen Christmas Party, where teens come from all over to see that it really is bigger in Dallas Texas.
CHAPTER PROGRAMMING
Since 1953, the Dallas chapter has always held programming to the heart of the chapter. From strenghting the younger age children through different experiences with access to technology, art and culture and guiding the teens in leadership and excellence while serving their community.
