“Shooting my first campaign for my brand was one of the most amazing career highlights. The only thing more amazing was realizing all the ideas from my head were getting created by so many of my friends and colleagues. I’ve known Greg Swales the photographer for over 10 years when we met in New York. Ronnie Hart is one of the most incredible fashion stylists in the industry. The makeup artist Wendi Miyake has been my sister, close to 10 years ago. Looking at the screens while we were shooting
knowing these images would be seen by the world, was incredibly special for us both. These amazing behind the scenes shots were captured by my best friend, the incredible artist and photographer Ricardo Nelson, who works with me on so much of the brand. I love that I get to create and fulfill my vision, but also have the most fun with the people I love and respect the most.”

On the back of every one of my products, I have a dedication to Muriel, Aileen and Olivia — my grandmother, mother and sister. These women raised me and supported me my whole life. It’s really important to acknowledge the women who made me who I am.
Who’s your favourite 90’s supermodel? Linda Evangelista.
What are you most excited for in 2022?
What is your favourite part about being backstage at a photoshoot? Honestly the energy, when everybody’s working and doing what they love to do the most. Also, having time constraints. It’s a really fun environment to work in, definitely not boring.
What’s your sign and do you believe it? Leo. Everything that I’ve read about Leo’s – that they are loyal, strong, leaders – yes. I’m definitely a Leo.
What made you want to do your own line? I have been mixing and matching all of my favourite products throughout the years since I started 20 years ago. So I always knew that I wanted to create products that I love and create a collection that was user friendly, that was natural hair focused so everyone can fall in love with their natural texture again.
Obviously, the launch of Andrew Fitzsimons hair, we’ve been working on this for so long. I’m ready to get our products in the stores and for everyone to get their hands on them and experience the Andrew Fitzsimons hair world!

I’m from Dublin, Ireland. The greatest city in the world.
What did you want to be when you were a kid? I wanted to be a singing, dancing policeman. So, apparently one of the village people.
I definitely sing in the shower…well no, I lip sync in the shower, I blast music and lip sync in the shower.
What makes you wake up in the morning? What’s your definition of an inclusive hair brand? One that’s a catalyst for self-expression and sets up all hair types as a canvas for whatever way a person wants to wear their hair.

Your Hair, Shiny AF.
Favourite product in the lineup? I’m really excited for people to try out Model. I was inspired to create it by observing the women in New York on the subway, with wet hair, in sneakers, ready for a full day. The product is your hairstylist in a bottle. Spray it in and go. It will enhance and refine your natural texture.
What product look the longest to create? Après Sexe Texture Spray. I’m a huge texture spray lover. The two unique things about this product: it’s buildable, and no matter your hair density you can use this product. Great for finer hair types, yet curly hair types can use it as it has conditioning agents. So pump up the volume!
First hairstyle you admired? My mom had a copy of Grace Jones Nightclubbing on vinyl, and on the cover, she’s wearing a simple Armani jacket, a cigarette hanging from her mouth and a very masculine flat top fade. I remember being so excited by not only the power emanating from the image but the ease you recognize when someone feels powerful.
Which celeb would you love to style? Lana Del Rey.
Favourite hairstyle you’ve created? I generally get excited for every style I create, most likely the last hairstyle that sticks out in my mind – Megan Fox at the Met Gala, 2021. Having a client who is open to your ideas really fuels my creativity.
Where’s the strangest place you’ve ever done someone’s hair? 45,000 feet in the air on a private jet which can be quite scary. Hot curling irons and turbulence don’t go together.
What does AF mean to you? It means showing the world your most unapologetic, bold and authentic self.

If we call ourselves the beauty industry, our actions must be as beautiful as our words.”
At Andrew Fitzsimons, we are committed as a brand to create an ongoing support and action network between existing LGBTQ+ support centers around the world to drive meaningful change. These centers offer comprehensive resources and services for transgender and non-binary people under one roof. Through these centers, we will support the community via beauty product donations for
transgender or non-conforming people in need and will bring awareness and fundraise where help is needed through our owned media vehicles, as well as offering our retail partners pronoun training workshops for store associates.
