ARTS AND CRAFTS CENTRE, AHMEDABAD

Ahmedabad is well known for its impressive culture, its heritage and most prominently the art and craft that has always been timeless and Ahmedabadis are proud of their culture. The involvement of the locals in the craft making is what makes it unique. The Design of the Art and Craft center focuses on creating a prominent space where Ahmedabadis can indulge in making as well as exhibiting their unique pieces.

Inspired by Zardosi art, The façade contains green coloured
when sunlight hits
Inspired by beadwork, circular openings allow people to move from the interior directly to the adjacent structure, representing the connectivity of 2 beads in the beadwork art. The structures provide an experience of moving through the circular beads.
Inspired by Lippan art, angular glass facade of triangular patters facades reflect the sunlight within the interior spaces, creating patterns of the craft with the gallery spaces.

Wonders Park is recognized for its miniature replicas of the “Seven Wonders of the World. The space program of area 5000sqm includes art galleries , workshop spaces and an auditorium for lectures to take place. Semi-open workshop spaces are surrounded by water bodies and a public plaza consisting of installations. The design focuses on providing users and experience of being within a water body using elements such as water, large volumes, blue as color, fluid forms and façade patterns.

JOURNEY

CREATING A CENTRAL SPACE USING SAND AS A BASE FOR THE DISPLAY OF SANDY SHORE ORGANISMS. VISITORS

GRADUALLY PROCEED TO THE UNDERGROUND STRUCTURE WHERE THE SKYLIGHT OPENINGS REDUCE IN NUMBER TO PROVIDE THE VISITORS A SENSE OF TRANSITION FROM THE BEACH INTO THE SEA, BRIGHT TO DARK SPACES. THE FLUIDITY IN THE MOTION AND DOMED ROOFS

PROVIDE A SENSE OF BEING WITHIN A WATER CAVE.

THROUGH THE RIVER

CONNECTING THE WALLS AND THE FLOOR USING WATERFALLS:VISITORS ARE PROVIDED AN EXPERIENCE OF VIEWING THE CENTRAL GALLERY TBY ENJOYING BEING SEATED IN A BOAT. WATER FALLS CONNECT THE ROOF TO THE GROUND, CREATING FLUID TRIPLE VOLUME SPACES WITH SKYLIGHTS TO CREATE FEELINGS OF EXPERIENCING UNDERWATER SPACES

EXPERIENCE ART PAVILION KERALA

The Kochi Muziris Biennale is an international contemporary art exhibition that is conducted at the island of Fort Kochi in Kerala. The design explores the arts and crafts of Kerala exhibited within a 35sqm Temporary Pavilion.

CONCEPT-FORM DEVELOPMENT

Inspired from the dances of Kerala, The form of the Pavilion focuses on “Movement and Rhythm” as design principles, initiating the visitors to experience the Pavilion as a “Sculptural Dancer”.

MASS HOUSING PUNE

High Rise Mass housing including amenities, recreation grounds , commercial and co-working spaces on a site of area 4 acres in the city of Pune targeting the middle class income user group working for a government job.

Tunnel openings to focus on the sunrise whose natural light lights up the interior of the tunnel

People gradually move from the dark underground to the opening, tunnel consists of only one opening to focus only on the morning sun

REFUGEES

DHARAMSHALA,HIMACHAL

Wood crafters communities have been residing in Dharamshala since years, they have been migrating from Tibet, due to which Tibetian architectural elements have been visible. The design involves a residential complex for the community along with a workshop unit to showcase their art work.
