GADENS BOERN X IZABEL CAMILLE Pia Lindell Quist has in collaboration with Izabel Camille designed the LOVE collection in favor of the street kids in India.

You must meet this woman A MATTER OF HEART Pia Lindell Qwist, founder of Gadens Boern, is a very special woman who selflessly works around the clock to raise money and build a resourceful organization that can improve the living conditions of street children in Kolkata, India. KAMILLE: I met Pia through some mutual friends in the summer of 2020. Pia quickly gained a huge place in my heart. Never have I met a woman so selfless, so energetic, and so strong-willed working for a matter of heart. India has a special place in my heart. On my travels to India in relation to our jewelry production, I have seen a country with huge contrasts between rich and poor. Too many people live in miserable conditions, struggling to get food and a roof over their heads. Izabel Camille has in the past two years raised money for the orphanages Apna Ghar and I-India located in Jaipur in India through our charity collections Bell and Saniya. Pia’s work with Gadens Boern is a matter of heart of my own. A collaboration between Gadens Boern and Izabel Camille was therefore inevitably. Today, Gadens Boern helps over 700 street kids daily in the slums of Kolkata to take up the fight against their social heritage and establish a future for themselves, off the street. The work of Gadens Boern includes social outreach in the streets, education programs, after-school centers, Saturday centers, baby and maternal center, health programs and activity centers in the slum.

Every jewelry piece of the collection contains a heart. The heart symbolizes the enormous love, we in the organization Gadens Boern, puts in everything we do. The children always get plenty of kisses and hugs and they always have to feel all the love, attention and proximity from us. Love and care are essential for all humans, but these children do not experience getting anywhere else from. The heart is furthermore a symbol of all the love that is put into the collaboration between Gadens Boern and Izabel Camille, of which the collection is a product of.

BEING ABLE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE Pia's history with street children started back in 2012 on a vacation with 3 girlfriends to India, a journey that changed her life.

Pia: I came from Denmark with a mindset on how children were supposed to be raised in a safe environment and a basic respect for children’s rights. In India, I met children living on the streets, sick and hungry. Children without any rights, no education, children who were abused and

It was cold, lonely and hopeless. When darkness fell in the evening and at night, and the children were tired and hungry and had to find somewhere to sleep, with the horror of violence, abuse or kidnapping, they felt the fear in their hearts and minds. These kids weren’t kids for very long.

a culture where women come second – and never give up. The joy and all the love and strong bonds I and the volunteers in Gadens Boern experience with the children, are the most beautiful and the greatest gift that is in no way comparable to the effort. It is incredibly great when you achieve the trust and friendship of these children.

Meeting the children forced me to look into my own life, and from my life out to the kids who lived around the street - the contrast I was met with changed my life. How could I make a difference, meet their needs, be their rock and provide safety. How could I make sure they weren’t exploited and let down. I had to establish credibility, honesty, security and, not least, make them feel true care and love.

Their love and gratitude are the biggest motivation for me. To see the kids coming running towards me at the station when I arrive from Denmark cannot be described in words. It is amazing and our journey and life together means so much to me. Every child is my child and my family - right up until the day I’m not here anymore.

FOR ME, BEING ABLE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR THESE CHILDREN WAS THE GREATEST GIFT IN LIFE. Starting a project as Gadens Boern was, firstly, filled with enormous joy, strong energy and warmth. But it also required immense perseverance and stubbornness in matters with public efforts, staff, but also with the children. You must have a rebellious side in your own right, put your vanity on the shelf at home You have to be able to trot around in garbage, and among rats and use public toilets which are holes in the ground and can be filled with feces. To welcome children with open arms, even if they are extremely dirty and filled with lice. Many of the children have worms and if they vomit, live worms can come up or out of the nose. Many of the children are filled with wounds, blood and large liquid open burns or large holes in the head. To succeed in a project like this, you have to be able to set yourself aside, be brazen, show strength, have your elbows out as a woman, in
