DIRECTOR DIRECTOR DIRECTOR NOTES NOTES NOTES When we began to conceptualize ideas, it was hard to come to a class consensus on what the musical would be about. Ideas ranged from, High School angst, the Life of Squirrel Manio, and Give Nut: the play. There were minor suggestions as well, but they were ultimately scrapped due to inconsistency and difficulty.

After a lot of brainstorming and debate, we came to a conclusion that our theme would be the last day of grade 9 in our perspectives.

Although, after a couple of days, obstacles such as: coordinating actors to show emotion on camera, relying on good internet stability, and the unlikeliness of our peers turning on their camera posed great difficulty.

Soon enough, the producer, the heads of scriptwriting, stage manager, and I came to an agreement that we would do Iya’s perspective on the last day of synchronous classes. Nevertheless, we wanted to make this play relate to our current times, thus we made Iya’s perspective into a dream she had during a Zoom call. With that concept in mind, anything could happen, as it is Iya’s dream, for example, Iya turns into a squirrel, she imagines myself as a peanut, or as the theme we have chosen; paper puppets!

With our class’s unique creativity and perseverance, we managed to create an impressive body of art that we hope the viewers and spectators alike would come to love as well. Signing off,
