OUTCRY OVER HOMES PLAN 6

Islanders have until February 25 to make their views known on building initiative
Islanders are being urged to register their objection by Monday (Feb 25) to the Island Plan building initiative which is proposing to create 10,000 new homes on the Isle of Wight. Ryde Councillor Michael Lilley and campaigner Jenny Wade say Ryde will be particularly hard hit by the proposals. The town will lose all its green field land if the plan is approved, adding that the housing plan runs counter to Islanders’ actual housing needs. Jenny said:“If we don’t register our objections by February 25 this paper will be adopted and we will all have to live with the fact this flawed Island Plan will govern how we live for the next 15 years. Can we really afford to be so complacent? “This draft Island Strategic Development Plan is, in my opinion, not fit for purpose and needs to be reworked from an Island perspective. Where is the section dedicated to our totally outdated and now inadequate Island road network?” The IW Council closes its consultation for the revised Island Plan Strategy on Monday.
