Surgeries to close in Brading and Lake
Two surgeries in Brading and Lake are set to close in six months’ time, making it even more difficult for thousands of Islanders to see a GP. The closures of the Beech Grove Surgery, in Sandown Road, Lake, and The Mall, Brading, will come because the two doctors who run the practices are ‘struggling to maintain their high standards of care’. Information about the closure was passed to the IW Observer, and the Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), responsible for planning and buying local healthcare services, confirmed the news yesterday afternoon (Thurs). It will affect more than 4,500 patients who are registered at one or other of the two branches on Beech Grove Surgery. Heartbreak for family over lost passports A Newport grandmother is hoping that a heartfelt plea for the return of passports lost in Newport last week might still save a family holiday. Laura Swallow aged 51, is due to travel to Spain for a three-night break on Wednesday (Oct 9) for her first ever holiday abroad, with daughter Jessica Russell (pictured above) and grandchildren Rhiane (14) and Leon (9).
