East Cowes celebrated the bicentennial of Queen Victoria’s birth over the Bank Holiday weekend, with a number of spectacular events, including a horse and carriage procession through the town, a seafront festival and an exhibition in the Town Hall. Saturday saw a Victorian Day in the town, with music, swing boats and Victorian fancy dress, and there was a town hall show in the
evening with a Victorian time machine. The highlight of Sunday was the grand procession, featuring horse and carriages, vintage cars and marching bands, which left Osborne House at 11am to march down York Avenue to arrive at the Esplanade at midday.
