February 23, 2020 Welcome to Ivymount! Thank you for attending our 8th Annual Special Needs Resource Fair. In this guidebook you will find information about the vendors participating in our fair, as well as, information about the complimentary workshops for fair attendees that will be held at designated times during the event. We hope you will find a topic of interest and join one of our workshops hosted by our amazing Ivymount staff. For 60 years, Ivymount has been a leader in the field of special education by providing nationally recognized programs for children and young adults with developmental disabilities and their families. Ivymount Outreach extends Ivymount’s exceptional services to the greater community. We offer services by highly trained Ivymount School and Maddux School staff to individuals, families and professionals. Our services include recreational, educational, and therapeutic programs, as well as trainings and consultation across a variety of topics in the field of special education. We’ve also published several curricula and online tools to support professionals and parents. Please stop by our table to introduce yourself and learn more about our programs and services. Alliance Pediatrics provides support to children and adolescents in their daily experiences. Licensed psychologists and licensed behavior analysts collaborate with children, teens, parents and educators to assess areas of needs and strengths. Results-oriented interventions are individually created based on the client’s unique needs. Services include: staff & caregiver training, therapy, assessment, school consultations, etc. Each summer, Alliance Pediatrics provides the groundbreaking Secret Agent Academy, an engaging, fun program that teaches children to become BRAVE, CALM and SOCIAL ROCKSTARS! This program is also provided in a small group format in the Fall and Spring, which incorporates a parent training component. Alliance Pediatrics also provides results-based social skills groups for Middle School and High School students.

Autism on the Seas provides cruise vacation services to accommodate adults and families living with children with special needs, including, but not limited to, autism, Asperger syndrome, Down syndrome, tourette syndrome, cerebral palsy and all cognitive, intellectual and developmental disabilities. Staff Assisted Cruises are selected from regular cruises throughout the year, and we assist adults and families in accommodating the typical cruise services, as well as providing specialized Respite and Private Activities/Sessions that allow our guests the use of the ship’s entertainment venues in an accommodated and assisted manner. Our professional staff (educated, experienced, background checked and sanctioned by the cruise lines) accompanies you on your cruise to provide these amazing vacation and travel experiences onboard Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, Norwegian, Disney and Carnival Cruise Lines.

Behavioral Framework provides intensive applied behavioral analysis services for children ages 18 months to 21 years. The mission of Behavioral Framework is to provide a system of behavior management and skill building to improve functional living and quality of life, not just for the child but for the entire family. Behavioral Framework approaches treatment with the belief that the potential of every child is limitless. Every plan is individualized to target appropriate behaviors for increase and reduce maladaptive behaviors as well as increase functional communication through receptive and expressive language development.

The Benedictine School is a 12-month day and residential facility for autistic, intellectually disabled, and multi-disabled children and youth, ages 5 to 21. Benedictine's approach to individuals with developmental disabilities is the creation of a supportive and therapeutic environment in which to foster the development of the whole person and to assist the individual in maximizing present and potential strengths. Benedictine provides an individualized and multi-disciplinary approach with regular communication and collaboration among all team members (school, residential, therapists, family, local school systems, and placing agencies). The mission is "helping children and adults with developmental disabilities achieve their greatest potential." This mission is achieved through educational, daily living, social and vocational tasks in classroom, residential, vocational, and community settings.

Bridle Paths

Our mission is to offer strength, support, and healing to individuals and families through safe, effective, and high-quality equine-assisted activities and therapies. We provide therapeutic horseback riding instruction, equine-assisted learning, and equine-assisted psychotherapy services to individuals and families faced with physical, cognitive, psychological, and emotional needs. The program serves those with a wide variety of challenges, including attention deďŹ cit disorder, autism spectrum disorders, cognitive impairments, anxiety and depression, genetic problems, seizure disorders, brain injuries, post traumatic stress, and trauma.


Camp Inclusion

www.campinclusion.org Camp Inclusion is a summer day camp for any student with or without a cognitive, social, or physical disability. At Camp Inclusion, campers participate in many group games and sports such as soccer, kickball, and handball. Campers also participate in arts and crafts activities such as tie-dye and painting, as well as developmentally appropriate board games. Games are age appropriate and adapted for all needs. Camp Inclusion is run primarily by high school and college age students with a desire to study special education. This creates an unmatched social environment that allows students to be themselves and create bonds between other campers and counselors while in a safe, structured environment.

Catapult Learning- The Auburn School www.catapultlearning.com

The Auburn School offers a dynamic educational program for intellectually curious students with challenges in the areas of communication, socialization, pragmatic language, and organization. Our program is appropriate for students who can learn successfully and appropriately in a small classroom setting. Auburn’s program simultaneously supports the development of academic skills, social competency and pragmatic language in an engaging educational environment.

Catapult Learning- Little Leaves www.catapultlearning.com

Little Leaves is a center-based ABA program for young children with an autism spectrum disorder run in a preschool-like setting. It is designed for children up to age 6 who have been recommended for intensive ABA services. Each client works one-on-one with a trained behavior technician on individualized goals with a focus on social communication, social interactions, and school readiness skills. Beyond the Spectrum - Visits to the hospital, doctor’s or dentist’s office can be challenging for children with communication, sensory and behavioral special needs. The medical environment can be overstimulating with loud noises, large crowds, unfamiliar smells and long waiting times in small areas. Procedures and exams that require physical touch can also cause anxiety, fear, discomfort and frustration. The staff at Children’s National Hospital is committed to ensuring that you and your child have a positive experience during your medical visits. We recognize that focusing on your child’s specific needs can make a real difference in safety and the overall experience. The mission at Circle of Hope is to provide equine-assisted activities and therapies (EAAT) for individuals with physical, mental, emotional and developmental disabilities to enhance their quality of life. Our EAAT program continues to support and meet the high standards set by PATH International, the national organization for equine therapy programs. Our program has served the Montgomery County community, Frederick County community, and the greater Washington, DC area for over 23 years. Dream Catcher Meadows Wellness Farm is a self-sustaining, self-sufďŹ cient biodynamic farm providing social, vocational, and recreational opportunities for neurodiverse groups in the Greater Washington, DC area. Our mission is to provide an agricultural space to embrace human neurodiversity while learning and experiencing the healing rhythms of nature and animals. Our aim is to build a sense of collaboration, acceptance and connection through meaningful, purposeful agricultural activities designed to improve adaptive functions. Our model is inclusive, with all programs available to neurodevelopmentally diverse individuals (neurotypical and atypical). We are currently recruiting new clients and partner organizations for collaborative experiences in animal husbandry, microgreens/gardening, composting and organic goat fertilizer production.

Camp Fairlee is a traditional summer camp for children and adults with all types of disABILITIES providing recreation and family respite. Sessions vary in length from 5 to 12 days; most are 6 days. There are two sessions each summer just for children with autism who need 1:1 support. Nurses on site. Canoeing, kayaking, rock wall, zip line, horseback riding, nature trails, swimming, arts/crafts and more! The entire facility was rebuilt in 2015 with modern cabins, dining hall, activity center and health center. American Camp Association accredited.

Combining high-tech, state-of-the-art equipment with innovative approaches to exercise, Fitness for Health helps people of all ages and abilities enjoy the benefits of physical activity while having fun at the same time through therapeutic exercise, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. Working with clients of ages 2 months – 99 years, anywhere on the motor development spectrum, and at any level of fitness, the Fitness for Health team provides an exciting, safe environment where children and adults can develop the motivation and confidence to learn new skills and take on new challenges. Our goals are that our clients are engaged, inspired, and having fun while working to improve their motor capabilities and, in turn, improving their self-confidence and self-esteem.

The HSC Health Care System is a Washington, DC based nonproďŹ t health care organization committed to serving people with complex needs and eliminating barriers to health services. The HSC Health Care System combines the resources of a health plan, pediatric specialty hospital, outpatient rehabilitative centers, and home health agency to offer a comprehensive approach to caring for, serving and empowering people with disabilities. Kids in Action is an adaptive sports and social activities program for children and young adults with disabilities and siblings. All kids should have the chance to play sports and be a part of activities with others their own age. We adapt our sports, social, and health-based activities and focus on each child's goals and strengths. Kids in Action is open to all children in the Washington, DC and Montgomery County areas. All events are supervised by licensed therapists so that anyone can participate.

LearningRx

www.learningrx.com/north-potomac LearningRx Brain Training program offers one-on-one training for cognitive skills such as memory - long term and short term, auditory processing, logic and reasoning, visual processing, attention and processing speed. Clients completing the program show a 25-35 percentile point improvement in one or more skills with an increase in IQ of 15-20 points. Our program helps children and adults diagnosed with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, traumatic brain injury or any other learning challenges.

Levine Music

www.levinemusic.org The Music Therapy department at Levine Music offers assessments for music therapy services, individual sessions, group sessions, and adapted instrumental lessons for individuals with special needs. Music interventions are individualized to meet the unique needs of each student to provide growth opportunities as well as to foster expression and creativity within each student. Summer services are also available, including a three-week inclusive camp opportunity at Camp Levine.

The Maddux School is an early childhood general education program providing a small, supportive, transdisciplinary learning environment for competent pre-K through second grade children who may need extra support during their first years of school. Challenging academics, integrated speech and occupational therapy, a unique social learning curriculum and innovative teaching strategies support individual learning styles. The mission of The Maddux School is to promote strong academic, communication and social foundations in a warm, nurturing setting.

Madison Fields is a project of Madison House Autism Foundation, a national 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The 400-acre farm is home to an Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies Program, a Job Readiness Program, and an Agricultural Education Program. We are partnering again this year with REINS Therapeutic Services for our STAAR Summer Camp. The STAAR Summer Program is designed to promote speech, language, and social development in a naturalistic environment. Moco Movement Center is a fully inclusive pediatric therapy practice and athletic movement center. We offer movement classes for children of all ages and abilities and provide therapy services. New Visions Academy of Baltimore focuses on academics, therapeutic supports, and hands-on vocational training to help students thrive. In a safe and structured educational environment, we provide an individualized education program in accordance with graduating requirements for all local schools to students who have been unable to succeed in public schools. We enroll adolescent males facing emotional and behavioral challenges, in a full-time, year-round program. Our students are in grades 6-12, between the ages of 11-21. The goal of the program is employment readiness that culminates in individualized job development.

Sports Plus is a nonprofit 501(c)(3), that provides sports and social programs for children, teens and young adults with mild to moderate developmental disabilities such as autism, ADD, ADHD and many other developmental disabilities. Our year-round programs are located in Montgomery County.

Stepping Stones Therapy www.steppingstonestherapy.com

Stepping Stones Therapy, a pediatric speech-language and occupational therapy practice in Bethesda, provides evaluations and treatment to children. We address a range of communication issues including articulation, speech motor planning (i.e., Childhood Apraxia of Speech), expressive/receptive language deficits, autism spectrum, pragmatic (social) language difficulties, and developmental delays. We provide occupational therapy evaluations and treatment to children and address issues with fine motor (manipulating objects, cutting, buttoning, etc.), gross motor, motor planning (sequencing complex motor movements), handwriting, posture, muscle tone, balance, body movement, and visual-spatial skills, as well as sensory integration (over- or under-reaction to touch, sounds), attention and arousal (improving movement/activity levels), and auditory processing skills.
