Barbara Jean Watkins Stroud, 71, of 356 Annhurst Dr., Danville, VA, passed away, Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at her residence. Born September 14, 1949 in Leaksville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Johnny Langston and Grace Law Watkins. She was married to the late Frederick Wayne Stroud. Survivors include one daughter, Dr. Stephanie Hunter-Brown (Kelvin) of Charlotte, NC; one son, William B. Hunter, III of Newport News, VA; two granddaughters, Khira Morrow and Kirstin Morrow both of Richmond, VA; a beloved friend, Anthony Fitzgerald of Callands, VA, and a host of other family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 1 PM from the Chapel of Fisher and Watkins with Rev. Dr. Thurman O. Echols, Jr., Eulogist. Interment will follow in the Danville Memorial Gardens. A viewing will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 from 6-8 PM from Fisher and Watkins Funeral Home, masks are required. In Honor of her memory, donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society. A live stream of the service will be provided via Facebook from Lisa K. Cox.
