Introduction: My career in architecture began shortly after my arrival in New York in 1993. Since that time, I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the finest firms in the city on a broad variety of project types, ranging from large scale public institutions, to multi family residential developments, to modest single family home renovations. Over the years I have acquired extensive experience in the renovation of historic masonry structures. This body of experience has given me a strong grasp of both traditional building practices and current construction technologies.
Biography: I was born, raised and educated in Detroit Michigan, the son of immigrant parents who came to America in the 1950s when the “Motor City” was a booming industrial center. An early interest in the visual arts and an aptitude for drawing and painting helped me win a talent scholarship to Wayne State University where I earned a bachelor’s degree in fine art. Growing up as an artist in Detroit gave me a critical perspective on post industrial urban life. Witnessing the decline of a once vibrant American city and the attendant destruction of its architectural fabric fostered a deep interest in architectural rehabilitation and sustainable urban re-development in me. My abiding interest is to work on projects that incorporate existing structures in new and creative ways. So I decided to take up the study of architecture and enrolled at Lawrence Technological University with the goal of making a positive contribution to the revitalization of our urban environment. Upon completion of my architectural education I decided to pursue a career in New York City, where I have lived and worked ever since. The following pages briefly summarize the projects I’ve been involved with while working at various firms over the past 20 plus years.
