The building of USJ began in 1988, following the completion of Subang Jaya's SS12 to SS19 in 1974.

1988

Taipan Business Centre was built in the 1990s by developer Sime UEP Sdn Bhd & is known for being USJ's main commercial hub.

EST. 1974 The first community gardens in the area were USJ 3 & 4 who sought out the “Zon Kebersihan” title for their areas.

2014 MPSJ then began providing fertilizers, prize money and funds to start Rukun Tetangga.

Sime UEP was responsible for over 80% of the development of USJ under the jurisdiction of Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MBSJ) .

The MPSJ's composting campaign went off without a hitch. A talk with datuk bandar Tuan Ar Kamarul Hisham generated the concept for the community garden.

Zoning -The existing sites spatial programming is not in any relation to the nearby spaces, Hence not having any harmonious connection within the site.

Natural Features -The park is abundant on natural features spanning from different types of flora species.

-However, the only spot for planting within the kebun komuniti is too small within limited plantation spaces.

Demographic -Majority of the people using the site is mostly Chinese as the parks lacks in that multicultural environment for people of all cultures to enjoy and spend time in

Man-Made Features -Several man made features are set around the site with places to rest and take shade from.

-The park does consist of many playground equipment and other workout equipment for user activates all throughout

Programming -The Site is a rather a busy environment during prominent times such as the morning where the residents are on their way to work and college.

-The Site itself is not shy of activities spanning from the morning till evening

Circulation -Circulation wise the park lacks in entry points where people just enter from the sloping hill and in all directions. In note to that the park needs a proper entrance view

Site atmosphere -Site ambience is very serene and picturesque with the smell, noise and sight all throughout. Providing several vistas to and fro overlooking the neighbourhood

Bark Community The mound shape, topography and form pays respect to the rubber tapping trees inner rings/ layers that was in the site previously and the spatial distribution in the site symbolises the main three layers that make the rubber tree which are Bark, Cambium and the most inner layer Wood.

-The spatial planning is divided between the three layers of the site all around with the idea of Spatial transparency where the spaces can be viewed from the top providing that visual and focal connection within all the areas

SPATIAL PLANNING The entrance for vehicles is framed & shaded by tall trees.

Second layer being the whole Kebun komuniti stretching around the whole site.

The plantation boxes integrated into individual layers

are the Pedestrian walk continuing into the forest reserve as a transition from a open area to a more enclosed area and they filtrate the air in the surrounding area complimenting the branching out of secluded picnic areas

The existing engravings at the kebun should remain as it is sentimental to the people & place

The users can climb onto each layer and experience the whole vertical farming process.

- The Layered Kebun has several entry points for the user to move up and down each layer and small pathways are implemented between plantation spaces

Third layer Consist of the Taiichi area at the top of the hill giving the view of the overall neighborhood and sunrise.

ADDITIONAL FACILITIES The existing space for playground remains however, the experience of it is enhanced.

Materiality usage of eco friendly materials mainly timber is used for the construction of pavilions to reduce the impact on environment

Playground is integrated with the surrounding trees to convey the relationship between nature and manmade

Pavilions are implemented to provide workshop areas located near the playground and forest reserve This is also a response to have several shaded areas during the strong solar radiation hours of the noon

Enticing Entrance The user is greeted with a entrance that climbs all the way up to the top of the site which has ramps for OKU people as well.

Borderless Recreation A space for both users to exercise at the courts or outdoor gym area, cascading from the old to young workout space, providing that visual transparency between two types of activities in the same coherent area.

Farm - to - Table /local vendor space The edible plants that are planted in the Kebun and other local vendors who want to setup shop are set in this space to bring and enhance the distinctive nodes value that are around the site giving that intrinsic experience in one place that place being your “home”

Open area For users to carry on their hobby kite flying as they usually do near their houses. The space falls on the previous taichi area showing that rich greenery all round making a great open area space

Emerged in site Secluded picnic areas for users to sit down and spend time with their families as they hear the rustling sounds of the trees in the forest reserve along with the birds chirping truly engrossing yourself in the site

Vertical Farming The terraced layout as layers adds more plantation all around the site creating this visibility of the KEBUN to the whole of the neighbourhood helping more people deem interest in this exciting community
