“SHEER JUBILATION... THE RHYTHM OF LIFE.”

–HERALD SUN, MELBOURNE

OCTOBER 25 & 26, 2022

TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY • 7:30 P.M.

From Lincoln Center Theater that brought you The King & I and South Pacific, comes “a sumptuous new production of the most perfect musical of all time” ( Entertainment Weekly), Lerner & Loewe’s My Fair Lady, returning to Bloomington for the first time in over 20 years.

Director Bartlett Sher’s glowing production is “thrilling, glorious, and better than it ever was” ( New York Times). “Every so often a revival comes along that reminds you how indispensable great theatre can be” (NY1).

Boasting such classic songs as “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “The Rain in Spain,” “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly,” and “On the Street Where You Live,” My Fair Lady tells the story of Eliza Doolittle, a young Cockney flower seller, and Henry Higgins, a linguistics professor who is determined to transform her into his idea of a “proper lady.” But who is really being transformed?

“KEEP[ING] CLASSICAL MUSIC ALIVE FOR THE NEXT GENERATION”

–NPR

MARCH 3, 2023

FRIDAY

• 8 P.M.

The nation’s renowned Latinx dance organization and considered one of America’s cultural treasures, Ballet Hispánico will perform their first full-length narrative ballet: Doña Perón.

Choreographed by Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Doña Perón is an explosive portrait of Eva “Evita” Perón, one of the most recognizable, and controversial, women in Argentinian history. The illegitimate daughter of a wealthy landowner, Evita concealed this shameful past as she rose the ranks from dancehall performer to Argentina’s First Lady—all before her untimely death at the age of 33. Doña Perón brings to light the extremes of power at the forefront of Evita’s life. Her work as an activist and advocate for Argentina’s women and working class raised skepticism as she indulged in the opulence of a high-class life. A voice for the people, or a deceitful actress? Ochoa explores these diverging legacies and more in her first-ever evening-length work for Ballet Hispánico.

For 50 years, Ballet Hispánico has been the leading voice intersecting artistic excellence and advocacy, and is now the largest Latinx cultural organization in the United States. Ballet Hispánico brings communities together to celebrate and explore Latino cultures through innovative dance productions, transformative dance training, and enduring community engagement experiences.

EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH

SO MUCH MORE THAN GREAT SHOWS.

EXPERIENCE OUR EDUCATIONAL AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH ACTIVITIES

Alongside our incredible world-class performances, IU Auditorium provides IU students, community members, and young people throughout South Central Indiana unique and educational ways to connect with our visiting artists and professional productions.

These programs deepen the performing arts experience and expose our community to new ideas, thoughts, and subjects. Through masterclasses, lectures, demonstrations, pre-event discussions, artist Q&As, and more, our engagement programming enriches the IU Auditorium experience and supports the educational mission of Indiana University.

Many of these experiences are open to the public! Be sure to keep an eye on our pre-event emails, Facebook event page, and IUauditorium.com for details on how you can take part in these exciting and enriching programs.

FAQs

CAN I ORDER TICKETS ONLINE?

Yes, once again in 2022–2023, online ordering via IUauditorium.com is the best way to subscribe or purchase tickets and provides you the opportunity to select your own seats. If you’d prefer that our box office select your seats for you, that is still an option. Please call us at (812) 855-1103 or email at tickets@indiana.edu to let the box office know you’d prefer your seats to be selected for you.

HOW DO I BECOME A SUBSCRIBER?

You can become a subscriber by purchasing at least one ticket to five or more event titles. New subscribers can begin purchasing their tickets to the 2022–2023 season on June 27. Along with other benefits, becoming a subscriber is one way to increase your Loyalty Point total—helping you get the best available seats. Patrons who wish to not purchase at least five events may purchase tickets as part of an exclusive season pre-order period taking place August 1–14. During this time, ticket buyers may purchase tickets at subscriber prices (savings of up to 15%). Single ticket prices go into effect August 15.

WHAT IF I DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW THE NEW ONLINE SUBSCRIPTION PROCESS WORKS?

Visit IUauditorium.com/Subscribe for information on how to purchase your subscription OR if you’d prefer that our box office select your seats for you, that is still an option. Please call us at (812) 855-1103 or email at tickets@indiana.edu to let the box office know you’d prefer your seats to be selected for you.

CAN I PURCHASE MY SUBSCRIPTION USING THE TICKETMASTER APP?

IU Auditorium season tickets are available for purchase through IUauditorium.com. You can purchase on your mobile device using an interactive seat map if you prefer, but tickets are only available to purchase and manage at IUauditorium.com.

WHAT ARE LOYALTY POINTS, AND HOW DO I EARN THEM?

Loyalty Points are earned through subscription and donation history with IU Auditorium, and are how we reward our loyal patrons with better seating options. Loyalty Point-holding patrons’ orders are made before new subscriptions and the general public in descending order—meaning the greater number of points you have, the sooner you’ll get to select your seats. For more specifics on our Loyalty Point system, please visit IUauditorium.com/Loyalty or call the Box Office at (812) 855-1103.

WHAT IF I EXCHANGE A TICKET FOR DIFFERENT TICKET OF HIGHER VALUE?

If a ticket is exchanged for that of a higher value, you will be charged the difference in price.

WHAT KINDS OF ACCESSIBILITY SERVICES ARE OFFERED BY THE AUDITORIUM?

We strive to accommodate all of our guests. If you require special accommodation, including wheelchair-accessible seating, amplification headsets, large-print or braille programs, audio description, or ASL services, please contact our box office at (812) 855-1103. Also, space in front of IU Auditorium around Showalter Fountain has been designated as accessible parking for those with state-issued disability tags. For more information on our accessibility offerings, please contact our box office at (812) 855-1103.

HOW DO I ACCESS THE IU BLOOMINGTON STUDENT DISCOUNT?

Each IU Bloomington student with a current, valid IUB student ID may redeem one student-priced ticket per event for their personal use. Simply select the student-priced ticket option when purchasing tickets at IUauditorium.com. Although students need not be present at the time of purchase, they will be required to present their student ID upon entry. Those without ID may be asked to return to the Box Office in order to upgrade their ticket for the general public price.

I’M A STUDENT, BUT NOT AN IU BLOOMINGTON STUDENT, CAN I STILL RECEIVE A STUDENT DISCOUNT?

We’re sorry, but only students enrolled on the Bloomington campus of Indiana University may use a student-price ticket to gain admission. For our family-friendly shows, the student discount is also extended to children.

DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR MY SUBSCRIPTION ALL AT ONCE?

When you become a subscriber by choosing five or more event titles, you are entitled to take advantage of the convenient 50/50 Payment Option in order to secure your great seats. Just check the 50/50 Payment Option box online and 50% of your total subscription order cost plus a $10 fee will be billed to your credit card when your order is received. The remaining 50% will be automatically billed to the same card in August.

CAN I PAY BY BURSAR BILLING ONLINE AND OVER THE PHONE?

Yes. As an IUB student, you may charge tickets to your bursar account.

HOW DO I PAY USING IU PAYROLL DEDUCTION?
