OUR COVID 19 SECURE MEASURES Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre is a safe environment; it is certainly not short of space and the staff are trained and committed to ensuring guests and suppliers feel confident and looked after when they on site.

We work to guidelines under the industry’s ‘All Secure Standard’ and government advice.

Following the Government’s latest guidance announced on 14 June, ITT Hub can go ahead under Stage 3 rules, with a restriction on numbers: 1,000 people indoors and up to 4,000 people outdoors.

We have made the following adjustments:

• Wider aisles • 1m + spacing within the conference room and seated features areas • Separation between the entrance and exit out of Hall 1 • Increased circulation space • Additional signage to increase awareness of government advice • Larger Catering Areas with one-way systems, managed seating areas, extra space between tables and a cashless (cards only) payment service.

• Larger outdoor exhibition area • Multiple automatic touch-free hand sanitiser stations • An enhanced cleaning regime with daily deep cleans and effective waste management.

Face coverings must be worn indoors, unless exempt. Our modern Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system draws fresh air in from outside the building, avoiding air recirculation.

When we prepared our business plan in 2018, we decided to create a brand that would ‘do what it says on the tin’. Three years later we’re excited to welcome 150 companies taking part and 35 leading industry speakers at our Future Logistics Conference.

Event Partners Zemo Partnership With Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 now enshrined in UK law, the decarbonisation agenda is going to dominate the discussion in transport (and many other areas of activity) for the next decade and beyond. As commercial vehicles, including vans, are responsible for around 40% of the UK’s GHG emissions from road transport, this sector is going to come even more into the decarbonisation spotlight.

We work with all stakeholders, including many fleet operators, fuel and energy providers and truck OEMs, on activities to decarbonise freight. This year alone, we’ve published a new High Blend Renewable Fuels Guide and, to support this, a new Renewable Fuels Assurance Scheme to give operators independent assurance that they’re purchasing sustainable, low carbon fuels.

We’ve also updated our Retrofit Guide (linked to our joint – with EST - Clean Vehicle Retrofit Accreditation Scheme) which provides operators with options for cutting locally polluting emissions, as we see a rise in the number of clean air zones and related measures.

We hope to introduce the new ‘Freight Portal’ developed with EST (the Energy Saving Trust) at the Show providing interactive web-based tools signposting options to cut fleet costs and emissions.

Zero emissions freight solutions are getting closer; fully electric trucks are now available in an increasing range of sizes and shapes and already an option for some. However, we need to use all the tools in the box to decarbonise our vehicles in the short, medium and long term.

I’m looking forward to discussing many of these issues with you at the show!

REA The Association for Renewable Energy and Clean Technology (REA) is the largest trade association of its kind in the United Kingdom.

Over the last 20 years, the REA has expanded to cover all of the renewable energy and clean technologies in the country, divided into 14 forums, including Green Gas, Biomass Power, Electric Vehicles, Energy Storage, Finance, Innovation, Landfill Gas, Markets, Organics, Renewable Transport Fuels, Solar, Waste to Energy, Wood Heat, and work closely with our subsidiary, Renewable Energy Assurance Limited (REAL).

Sub-national Transport Bodies Sub-national Transport Bodies (STBs) are regional partnerships bringing together local transport authorities and business leaders, together with key partners like Network Rail and Highways England, to advise government on their region’s transport investment priorities.

STBs don’t replace or replicate the work of existing local transport bodies.

Through their transport strategies and technical reports, they ensure major decisions about a region’s transport network are informed by a robust evidence base, local knowledge and the needs of local people and businesses.

They are champions for investment in their regions, producing a single, joined-up programme for investment with the backing England’s Economic Heartland A partnership of 12 local transport authorities and three local enterprise partnerships in Swindon, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire.

It includes the entirety of the Oxford-Cambridge Arc. englandseconomicheartland.com Midlands Connect A partnership of 22 local authorities, nine Local Enterprise Partnerships, East Midlands and Birmingham airports, and Chambers of Commerce. Thought leadership

The changing landscape of logistics After an extraordinary year which most of us could never have predicted, it gives me great pleasure to finally welcome you to the inaugural ITT Hub and Logistics UK’s Future Logistics Conference 2021 - the most exciting and largest event in the transport sector in 2021. We are grateful for the patience and support of the event’s sponsors and hope that you have an enjoyable, thought-provoking visit to the wonderful facilities here at Farnborough.

Congratulations to the team which has made it possible for the event to take place this week.

During the past 12 months, I have constantly been reminded of how flexible and adaptable logistics is as an industry, as our members have adjusted to new government guidelines, new trading conditions and new challenges on a daily, if not hourly, basis.

And it was particularly gratifying to see government acknowledging the work of our sector early in the pandemic, thanks to the efforts of Logistics UK which pressed for the designation of logistics employees as “key workers” – testament to the (often unseen) hard work which goes into keeping Britain trading, whatever the circumstances.

While we all hope that the crisis of COVID-19 is now passed, change is ever present in our sector, with new technologies, new policies and other disruptive forces constantly driving changes in the way goods move across borders and through the supply chain. The environmental impact of the work we do is constantly in the spotlight and will be thrown into ever sharper relief as the UK hosts the COP26 conference later this year. UK PLC would not continue to trade and thrive without the goods and services which logistics deliver, every single day, but as an industry, we have a responsibility to ensure that our impact on the world around us is as minimal as possible.

Alternatively-fuelled vehicles and modal shift are just two of the areas where we can lead the rest of the world, changing the way our sector does business while supporting industry. Logistics UK is working hard to ensure operators have sufficient information and time to make business decisions which work for them when assessing new technologies, supported by sufficient finance and with all the relevant infrastructure in place from the start. These are two of the most exciting areas of innovation in our sector now and I look forward to seeing the latest developments on show in the exhibition area.

At Logistics UK we have a reputation for healthy debate and challenge to further the cause of the sector, and I am particularly looking forward to hearing the discussions in the Future Logistics Conference over the next two days. The line-up of speakers that has been assembled is world class, reflecting the reach and influence of Logistics UK and the impact that our sector has on every facet of our daily lives. Arriving by car or motorcycle Farnborough International Exhibition & Conference Centre is located just off the A325, accessible from the M3 (J4) and A31. For SatNav directions use the postcode GU14 6TQ which will take you to Gate F. There are also brown road signs for ‘Exhibition Centre’ when you get to Farnborough if you do not have SatNav. From here follow yellow signs for ‘ITT Hub’.

Parking is free.

Arriving by foot or bicycle Use Gate B, on Trenchard Way, follow the brown signs above. There is not a postcode for this gate, so use What3Words: ///good.clean.lakes Disabled facilities There are accessible toilets across the show site and medical assistance from the onsite Medical Centre.

While we do not allow animals on site, guide and assistance dogs are welcome.

EV charging There is a limited number of dedicated charging bays offering free 1-hour charging slots in Car Park 1. Once on site and you will be directed to the relevant area.

Please ensure you bring your portable charger with you, as the connection is directly into the mains.

Catering There are several catering facilities across the show site. There is the EV Cafe supported by myenergi and the Recharge Bar and Cafe both located in the exhibition hall. There are two outdoor food courts offering take-away options. Seating is available in all food areas. Drinking water is available from all catering outlets. All catering outlets are cashless (card only).

Arriving by taxi Local taxi drivers are familiar with the access routes and are able to drop off at the venue. Taxis from outside the borough of Rushmoor must come through Gate F (see left).

Arriving by rail Farnborough Main is the primary station and is the quickest station to get to/from London Waterloo. There is a continuous free electric shuttle-bus service to the event during the open days of the show, from 7am-7pm.

Departures for return journeys are shown at The Bus Hub (Stand A3) in the Discover suite.

Disabled access There is a disabled car park onsite for blue badge holders. Access is via Gate F (see left). Please display your blue badge in your car as you approach and you will be directed to the disabled car park. Spaces are firstcome, first-served. Should all the spaces be full, you will be directed to an alternative car park. Please ensure your carer has also registered to attend the show.

Free Wi-Fi There is limited free Wi-Fi in Hall 1.

First Aid In the event of injury or illness, locate the Medical Centre within Hall 1 (see Show Map) or contact any of the Organisers or Security Staff who will arrange assistance.

Cloakrooms To support a reduction in touch points and cross contamination under Covid guidance, we will not be operating a cloakroom or left luggage facilities. Please leave items in your vehicle.

Prayer room A multi-faith prayer room is in Hall 1, Smoking In line with UK law, smoking is limited to certain outdoor areas. Smoking is not permitted in any enclosed space i.e. halls or cafes, or in close proximity to the display vehicles.

What’s on Ride & Drive Over two miles of roadway are available for supervised demonstration drives, giving you the opportunity to try the vehicles in action.

Should you wish to participate in the Ride & Drive, please ensure you bring a valid UKissued driving licence and driver qualification card with you. Without this you will be unable to take part. Details on p26-27

Future Logistics Conference The Logistics UK Future Logistics Conference, on both days of the event, brings the latest thought leaders and influential speakers together under one roof.

Held in a stand-alone theatre, the conference will be opened by a keynote address from astronaut Major Tim Peake CMG. Free to attend.

The programme is structured around four themes: Future Data, Future Vehicles, Future Strategies and Future Cities and will allow you to hear first-hand from industry leaders, innovators and experts who will address the key challenges shaping our industry.

Launching the event Keynote speaker: Major Tim Peake CMG Major Tim Peake CMG, the first British astronaut to visit the International Space Station (ISS), his work during Mission Principia inspired millions about the possibilities which space could offer.

A former test pilot, he is also a STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) ambassador, schools’ speaker and best-selling author.

His keynote speech will kick off two days of debate and discussions at ITT Hub 2021.

“I am thrilled to be speaking at the Logistics UK Future Logistics Conference, to engage with key businesses across the logistics sector and identify areas where inspiration could provide solutions for 21st century challenges,” says Tim Peake.

“I am also looking forward to experiencing firsthand the wide range of new options for transport that ITT Hub will have on show – and possibly even seeing what it’s like to experience an autonomous vehicle.

“60 years ago, man had not even set foot on the moon, but the boundaries of what’s possible have been expanded. I look forward to challenging visitors at the conference to push their horizons and help to shape the industry of tomorrow.”

Tim’s dream of becoming a pilot became a reality when, aged 13, he took control of an aircraft for the first time. He had already flown numerous solo sorties by the time he was 18 and been awarded a coveted position to join the British Army Air Corps.

He served as an army officer before gaining his Army Flying Wings in 1994. He trained as a combat search and rescue instructor, and flew operations to enforce the peace and provide

humanitarian support in the aftermath of the Bosnian War. In May 2009 Tim was selected as a European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut and after arduous training assigned to a mission to the International Space Station in May 2013. After many months in Russia learning how to operate the Soyuz spacecraft, he launched to space on 15 December 2015.

During his Principia mission Tim took part in over 250 scientific experiments. He conducted a spacewalk to repair the Station’s power supply, drove a rover across a simulated Mars terrain and helped dock two spacecraft.

He was also actively connected with the public - his mission focused on educational outreach, engaging more than 2m schoolchildren across Europe in 30 projects during his time in space.

Tim’s New Year message was broadcast by the BBC to celebrate 2016 and in April 2016, Tim ran the London Marathon on the ISS treadmill, becoming the first man to run a marathon in space.

Tim shares the unique insights on leadership, fear and risk management, motivation and collaboration that his incredible career as a test pilot and astronaut has afforded him.

He draws on his own out-of-this-world experiences to inspire audiences with his recipe for mission success and peak performance.

David Wells, David is Chief Executive of Logistics UK, one of the biggest business groups in the UK, and the only organisation which represents all of logistics.

With more than 18,000 members from the road, rail, sea and air industries, as well as the buyers of freight services such as retailers and manufacturers, the members of Logistics UK operate more than half of the UK fleet of HGVs, and consign over 90% of freight moved by rail, and 70% of air and sea freight.

David joined Logistics UK in April 2009 as Finance and IT Director, subsequently taking on additional responsibility for the Vehicle Inspection Service and Training and Tachograph Analysis Service.

David became Chief Executive in early 2015 and since then has seen membership grow by 10%.

Richard Bradley, Head of Strategy - Midlands Connect Richard Bradley has a career spanning multiple disciplines in both private and public sector. He has spent the last five years working for sub-national transport bodies and currently heads up the strategy team at Midlands Connect, having previously worked for the North and South East.

Richard has helped develop more robust and compelling evidence to support regional investment programmes and policy direction. Whilst focused on physical mobility, this is increasingly considering the impacts of digital connectivity and spatial proximity, and more holistic, cross-sector outcomes.

He leads the development of traditional business case evidence as well as more contemporary evidence in response to changes to the Treasury’s Green Book. He is also leading the development of pathways to 2050 that target a fairer society, protect the environment and develop a greener economy, as well as explore more trusted ways to track progress.

Richard also leads the development of route-maps for the future of mobility, including innovative approaches for key aspects of decarbonising transport in the Midlands and how the Midlands can operate together more effectively. This is being drafted into an emerging connectivity strategy that will deliver evidence for decision makers to 2025.

Tim Campbell, Managing Director Campbells Consultancy Tim has over 35 years’ experience exclusively working in the light and heavy commercial vehicle sector on a global scale, helping many of the household names from OEM’s, Tier 1 and finance institutions his consultancy and training company operates around the world offering insights into the various aspects of the commercial vehicle sector, particularly looking at the autonomy, connectivity and zero emission vehicles.

David Cebon, Director - Centre for Sustainable Road Freight David Cebon, PhD, FREng, FIMechE is the Director of the Centre for Sustainable Road Freight. He is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering in Cambridge University Engineering Department. Professor Cebon has authored or co-authored many papers on dynamics, safety, manoeuvrability and fuel consumption of heavy vehicles. He has also published on road and bridge response and damage, and advanced suspension design for heavy vehicles. Prof Cebon has been the Principal Investigator of numerous EPSRC grants and other projects from sponsors including Innovate UK and from EU and US sources.

Chris Chandler, Principal Consultant - Lex Autolease Chris has been a Fleet Management Consultant for over 22 years and has always has had a strong focus on environmental fleet management and vehicle technologies. Pushing the agenda for cleaner vehicles and more efficient methods of transport has been at the heart of his time in the industry working with organisations such as The Energy Saving Trust, Go Ultra Low and the BVRLA. In 2015 he won the Energy Saving Trust’s Green Fleet Hero of the Year award. At Lex Autolease, Chris set up the plug-in vehicle proposition which has resulted in the Lex Autolease plug-in fleet size increasing to over 22,500 vehicles, and the introduction of a Hydrogen Fuel Cell vehicle. He works closely with customers developing their environmental strategies, and has helped some fleets reach over 40% zero emission vehicle penetration.

Rupert Clubb, Chief Officer – Transport for the South East Rupert has been in charge of Communities, Economy and Transport at East Sussex County Council since June 2007 and is Transport for the South East’s chief officer. He is a chartered civil engineer and has previously held a number of roles with the Environment Agency where responsibilities included environmental regulation, flood risk management and environment protection and enhancement. He is also a member of the Sussex Resilience Forum. Rupert is a former President of ADEPT, the Association of Directors of Environment, Economy, Planning and Transport.

C-J Elizabeth de Jong, Director of Policy - Logistics UK Graeme Cooper, Project Director Electric Vehicles - National Grid Graeme leads National Grid Corporate work on electric vehicles/ decarbonisation of transport by leading and coordinating all the work relating to the UK regulated business of National Grid.

National Grid separated the Electricity and Gas Transmission Ownership (TO) from the Electricity System Operation (ESO) in April 2019, so Graeme represents the Asset business of National Grid.

His work helps the Government, the energy and transport industry’s transition towards zero emission. With over a decade in communications infrastructure and over a decade in low/zero carbon electricity generation, Graeme is a wellknown and highly respected energy industry expert.

Mark Cracknell, Head of Technology - Zenzic Mark joined Zenzic in 2018, he leads on technology and the UK Connected and Automated Mobility Roadmap to 2030 to establish an industrywide view of the future. He previously worked at TfL, supporting the London connected and automated testbed amongst other Surface Transport roles. Mark is a Chartered Engineer and has a first-class degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Southbank University.

Leon Daniels OBE, ITT Hub’s Chair and Vice President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Leon Daniels served as Managing Director, Surface Transport at Transport for London until 2017. Before joining TfL, Leon built and sold his own venture-capital backed bus business to FirstGroup plc, a FTSE 100, multinational transport business. He also held the position of Commercial Director at First UK Bus, overseeing new ventures in UK and international transport. Leon is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport, an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Couriers and a Member of the Court of the Worshipful Company of Carmen.

An economist by background, Elizabeth has a strong track record of leading successful policy teams.

She has over 20 years of experience at a senior level in the transport sector which includes consultancy, business analysis, programme management, policy development and policy delivery. She joined Logistics UK in July 2017 from Rail Delivery Group where she was Director of Policy, and prior to that worked at the Department for Transport. At Logistics UK she is responsible for UK, Regional, EU and International Policy, Public Affairs, Research & Information and the Member Advice Centre.

Andy Eastlake, Managing Director Zemo Partnership Andy Eastlake was appointed as the LowCVP’s Managing Director in April 2012, after serving both on the board and as chair of the members’ council for many years. Andy has a strong background in vehicle engineering and evaluation, specialising in powertrain developments, fuel economy and emissions. Under Andy the LowCVP and its members have cemented their role supporting government in providing robust evidence and developing practical engineering based policy proposals for low emission vehicles and fuels across the whole road sector. Andy was formerly Group Head of Commercial and Projects at Millbrook Proving Ground where he led the work on powertrain test and development programmes and alternative fuels for a variety of global OEM customers. Previously as Head of Laboratories Andy was responsible for all technical aspects of the Millbrook business and for government and European legislative relations. He is also a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, served on the board of CENEX and sits a range of industry advisory bodies.

Dr Russell Fowler, Senior Project Manager, Decarbonisation of Transport, National Grid Russell is the Senior Manager looking at National Grid’s role in transport decarbonisation – from rapid EV charging to synthetic fuels for aviation.

In previous roles at National Grid, E.ON and RWE Russell: led the analysis for RIIO-2, National Grid ESO’s first price control, helping the ESO to be able to operate the system carbon free by 2025; led the production of the Future Energy Scenarios, electricity demand and was part of the Electricity Market Reform project setting up the first low carbon capacity and security of supply auctions.

Russell also holds a PhD in mathematics from the University of Birmingham.

Michelle Gardner - Head of Public Policy - Logistics UK Joining in February 2021. Michelle leads on policy areas including the environment, connected and autonomous vehicles and the strategic road network. Michelle has a background in both policy and public affairs and prior to joining Logistics UK, she was environmental manager at the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. Previously she worked for the British Retail Consortium, first leading on public affairs and then on employment and health and safety policy.

Steve Gooding, Director - RAC Foundation and President CILT UK Steve is Director of the RAC Foundation, an independent charitable think-tank that commissions and disseminates research relating to motoring. Recent reports have covered topics including the safety of older drivers, the number of speeding offences detected by different police forces, and the condition of the nation’s road bridges. Steve took over at the Foundation in 2015 after a long civil service career encompassing many transport-related roles, latterly as Director General for Roads, Traffic & Local at the Department for Transport.

Steve is a fellow of the CIHT, President of the CILT, a trustee of the Rees Jeffreys Road Fund, a regular columnist in Highways magazine and commentator on transport issues in the media.

Peter Harris, International Sustainability Director - UPS Peter Harris began his UPS career in 1989 in Automotive and was promoted to Automotive Director for the UK in 1997. In 2005, Peter took an assignment with Corporate Compliance, developing and implementing a system to manage regulatory compliance outside the U.S. Peter moved into sustainability in 2011 when he accepted the role of Sustainability Director for Europe and in 2019, took on global responsibilities as International Sustainability Director.

In addition to his UPS responsibilities, Peter is also a director of the Low Carbon Vehicle Partnership, a public-private entity in the UK whose purpose is to accelerate the shift to low carbon vehicles and fuels.

Chris Jackson, Head of Fleet, Centrica Chris Jackson is the Head of Fleet Partnerships at Centrica Business Solutions and his role is to help enable fleet operators to transition to EVs at scale.

In the last 15 years he’s worked in the fleet industry including the leasing divisions of two High Street banks and now works at the UKs largest energy company.

Electric vehicles have been a big part of his career for the last five years and he believes that the right to breathe clean air – coupled with climate change and increasing legislative pressure is highlighting the need for businesses large and small to decarbonise their fleets.

Chris builds energy partnerships primarily with fleets (cars, commercial vehicles, buses and taxis) and leasing companies, while actively developing the next generation of services to customers.

He is a lifetime petrol head, but now an official electric vehicle nerd.

Richard Jinks, VP Commercial Oxbotica Richard is the VP of Commercial at Oxbotica, responsible for developing strategic partnerships to expand the deployment of Oxbotica’s Universal Autonomy software platform.

Heading up the commercial team, Richard’s focus is overseeing Oxbotica’s commercial engagements with current and future strategic partners, new product development as well as identifying new market opportunities.

Richard joined Oxbotica from global insurer AXA XL, where he served as Global Head of Portfolio Solutions. Richard established their global autonomy programme, leading AXA XL’s partnership with Oxbotica. The programme’s focus was the assessment of the risks associated with autonomy, as well as providing solutions for AXA XL’s clients to accelerate the adoption of autonomous vehicle technology.

Lorna McAtear, Fleet Manager National Grid 2021 Barbara Cox woman of the year winner, Lorna joined E.ON as an IT Project Manager before moving to the fleet team to head up groupwide telematics and carbon reduction projects, subsequently being appointed Commercial Vehicle Manager. Having worked in Germany on a global fleet project she returned to the UK and joined Royal Mail in 2014. Whilst there she led on the Optimise Prime project, the largest commercial electric vehicle project in the UK. In August 2019 she joined National Grid as Fleet Manager. She holds an international CPC, is a regular and respected contributor at industry conferences and round tables and is a judge for the Commercial Fleet awards.

Steven Meersman, Founder Director - Zenobe Energy Steven is one of the Founders of Zenobe. He leads the EV team which aims to make the ecologically sustainable option also the financially sustainable one for fleet operators. In addition he’s responsible for Delivery, Operations and Product teams. Prior to Zenobe, Steven spent nearly two decades between battery and traded energy commodity markets. He was a Global Head of Deals Desk at Trafigura where he led the commercial optimisation and market risk management teams for two refineries and over 30 import terminals and storage sites across Africa and Central America. Before this role, he was part of Oliver Wyman where he supported trading houses and utilities on optimising assetbacked trading strategies as well as investment and disposals of energy related infrastructure. He started his career in batteries as part of the team that set up AES Energy Storage (now Fluence) Outside Zenobe, Steven advises the management at Contrarian Ventures, a venture capital fund investing in early stage energy transition start-ups in the Baltics. He is married with one daughter and when time permits enjoys the performing arts. He holds an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University and electrical, mechanical and industrial engineering degrees from the Catholic University of Louvain.

Phillippa Oldham, Chartered Engineer Advanced Propulsion Centre A Chartered Engineer with a wealth of experience working with a wide range of stakeholders from government, industry and academia, with the ability to challenge existing silos between the sectors. Philippa joined the APC in January 2018, where she links together academia and industry to incubate collaborations, to develop exportable products and services.

Major Tim Peake CMG - Astronaut Tim Peake was the first British astronaut to visit the International Space Station, where his work during Mission Principia inspired millions about the possibilities which space could offer. Jonas Persson is the newly appointed Head of Sustainability and ESG Finance at Lloyds Bank, having lead Energy & Utilities businesses for the best part of two decades. He joined Lloyds in 2008 and has been driving the Renewables and the ESG agenda both internally and externally, and proud to have supported the first baseline commitment by any Bank as Lloyds is committing to a 50% carbon reduction by 2030. Jonas has a strong track record of steering the business in a commercial and prudent way, taking into account major challenges such as political, regulatory and technological risk. He has got a reputation of successfully building strong teams and developing talent.

Phil Roe, Chief Customer Officer & Strategy Director - DHL Supply Chain Phil Roe is Chief Customer Officer, DHL Supply Chain with responsibility for leading the Sales, Marketing and Customer Experience agenda for the UKI. Phil has substantial experience of supply chain leadership across multiple customers, sectors and geographies, with 30 years’ experience in a variety of senior leadership and operational roles and functional experience in marketing, new product development and sales.

Phil is an Economics graduate; a member of DHL’s International Business Leader Program and recently completed a mini MBA at Salford Business School. He is a non-Executive Board Member of the Freight Transport Association and is an active member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.

S-T Zeyn Saigol, Principal Technologist - Connected Places Catapult (CPC) Dr Zeyn Saigol is a Principal Technologist with the Connected Places Catapult, specialising in verification, validation and regulatory approval of autonomous vehicles (AVs). He is technical lead for the CertiCAV and MUSICC projects, working with the UK Department for Transport to explore practical certification methods for AVs. MUSICC has developed a shared library for storing test scenarios, and building on this CertiCAV has defined a safety and approval framework. He was also interface architect for VeriCAV, a collaborative R&D project creating a smart simulation testing framework, and has led Catapult projects exploring how AVs can positively contribute to decarbonisation. His background includes a PhD in AI planning, MSc in machine learning, and roles in both academia and industry focused on creating autonomous robots.

Wayne Savill FCILT, PTV UK’s Logistics Divisions Business Development Director - PTV Group With more than 40 years in the Logistics sector beginning in the Traffic Office in the late 1970’s with the Unilever Group, skilled in Logistics and Transport Optimisation, Negotiation, Business Development Planning, Strategic Modelling & Strategy Planning, Management, Sales and a Strong operational understanding. Passionate about the targeted application of Operational and Strategic Optimisation and Planning technology solutions to help drive productivity and efficiency, provide total visibility and allow those businesses to deliver a premium service experience to their customers. Having spent the last 22 years involved with the provision of Logistics & Transport Software ‘Best of Breed’ Solutions, has an extensive understanding and appreciation of ‘end to end’ requirements and project deployments. An active member of the CILT for more than 25 years, and a Chartered Fellow for half of this period is now using this experience in the Optimisation & Logistics Decision Support Software Solutions arena of the Porsche Automotive SE’s PTV Group Logistics Support Software business throughout the UK & Ireland.

Nicola Shaw CBE, President, UK Networks - National Grid Nicola is positioned firmly at the heart of meeting the energy challenges of the future. She joined National Grid in July 2016 after holding the CEO role at HS1 for five years.

She is highly regarded in the UK transport industry and in July 2015 was asked to report to the UK Government on the future structure and financing of Network Rail. The subsequently named Shaw report was published in March 2016.

Nicola holds a BA in Modern History and Economics from Oxford University and an MSc in Transport from MIT. She was awarded a CBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List 2015.

Adam Simmons, Director Future Road Investment Strategies and Government Relations - Highways England Adam has been a Director at Highways England since 2017. He leads for Highways England on the development, with Government, of the next 5-year Road Investment Strategy and Delivery Plan for England’s Motorways and major A-roads. Adam leads for the Company on its relationship with DfT and the rest of Government. Over the past 12 months Adam has led Highways England’s work to bring together its activities into a single Net Zero Carbon Plan. Adam works in Highways England’s Strategy & Planning Directorate.

Rubina Singh, Head of Ideation Delivery – Centrica Rubina leads on e-mobility technologies and innovation at Centrica. She is also an Advisory Expert to the Solar Impulse Foundation.

Her previous roles span across technology development, setting up a new EV division and running cleantech innovation programs having worked in the UK, USA and Australia.

Rubina has published several papers on distributed energy technologies and EVs in international journals including IEEE, TechCrunch and PV Tech Power and is a regular speaker at international conferences. She has a M.Eng. in energy systems engineering from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and a B.Eng. in electronics and sustainable energy engineering from the Australian National University.

Gerrit Stumpe, Business Developer eHighway - Siemens Mobility Gerrit Stumpe is Business Developer at Siemens Mobility, Erlangen, responsible for market analysis & preparation and pre-acquisition of eHighway. Gerrit has a commercial background and started his career at Siemens Germany in 1994. Since then he has been active in different branches such as industry automation, mobile communication, cement, pulp & paper, marine solutions and rail electrification fulfilling numerous roles including commercial project manager, account manager and commercial head of fuel cell production. Thomas Tonger heads worldwide Product Planning and Product Management at Daimler Buses. This responsibility includes buses with alternative drivetrains, where Thomas and his team played a key role in defining and bringing to market the electric city bus Mercedes-Benz eCitaro.

Furthermore, Thomas’ area includes a Bus Rapid Transit consulting team which has advised transport ministries and city governments worldwide in setting up efficient BRT systems.

Previously, Thomas headed Daimler Buses’ India project and has worked in various international Sales and Controlling positions after joining Daimler in 1999.

Martin Tugwell, Programme Director - England’s Economic Heartland (EEH) EEH brings political and business leaders together in a strategic collaborative partnership committed to realising the economic potential of the Heartland, including the Oxford – Milton Keynes – Cambridge Arc. Stretching from Swindon to Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire to Hertfordshire, EEH provides leadership on strategic infrastructure issues, in particular those relating to transport, digital connectivity and utilities. As the region’s Sub-national Transport Body, EEH is producing an over-arching Transport Strategy - a 30 year strategic vision for the transport system that puts the needs of businesses and individuals at the forefront of investment decisions.

Dr Joanna White, Roads Development Director - Highways England Alex Veitch, General Manager, Public Policy - Logistics UK

Alex is responsible for Logistics UK policy positions, advocacy and influencing campaigns across all policy areas, leading the team of policy specialists. Alex has worked at Logistics UK since 2015 and was Head of Multimodal and previously Head of Global Policy, a role that included a one-year secondment to HMRC Customs EU Exit team.

Alex has a varied background across the transport and sustainability sectors, including developing low-carbon vehicle policies and programmes for the Energy Saving Trust; leading the sustainability unit for the global association of railways in Paris (UIC), delivering multimodal passenger transport projects for passenger rail companies and leading EU policy engagement for the Rail Delivery Group.

In addition to his role at Logistics UK, Alex is Vice Chair of Living Streets, the national charity for everyday walking, and is a Chartered Member of CILT and IEMA.

David Wells, Chief Executive Logistics UK David is Chief Executive of Logistics UK, one of the biggest business groups in the UK, and the only organisation which represents all of logistics.

With more than 18,000 members from the road, rail, sea and air industries, as well as the buyers of freight services such as retailers and manufacturers, the members of Logistics UK operate more than half of the UK fleet of HGVs, and consign over 90% of freight moved by rail, and 70% of air and sea freight.

David joined Logistics UK in April 2009 as Finance and IT Director, subsequently taking on additional responsibility for the Vehicle Inspection Service and Training and Tachograph Analysis Service.

David became Chief Executive in early 2015 and since then has seen membership grow by 10%.

Having completed an engineering degree in Liverpool, David studied for membership of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, qualifying in November 1993 whilst working in industry. His career has centred around engineering and service businesses and has both European and North American finance and operations experience.

Leading a division focussed on environmental policy and standards, intelligent transport systems, energy and road design.

Following her PhD in Mathematics, where she developed mathematical models for traffic networks, Jo started her career in 1999 at TRL working as a Researcher. One of her first projects was to demonstrate how mobile phone data could be used to produce information about movements on transport networks and undertook. Six years later she joined the Highways Agency as a Senior ITS Engineer in the Traffic and Travel Systems Group.

She led the M42 Active Traffic Management Monitoring project, investigated how smart motorways and ramp metering could operate together, and set up the ITS Radar service. Jo was promoted in 2007 to the Team Leader of the Technology Programme Performance team, responsible for overseeing the Agency’s £250m Technology Programme. In April 2012 she was appointed to lead the National Operational Systems team in Traffic Technology Division, looking after all the systems that the Traffic Officers use to manage traffic and incidents.

In 2014 she returned to the standards and research part of the organisation, leading the Intelligent Transport Systems group. She led teams who develop and maintain standards for operational technology, improve operational systems and research future vehicle technology.

This included delivering successful connected and automated vehicle trials in collaboration with industry partners, to inform the connected services roadmap - one of the elements of Highways England’s Digital Roads vision. In February 2020 Jo became a Chartered Engineer.

Bethany Windsor, Operations Manager - Career Ready Think Logistics and NOVUS Bethany has been working to inspire the next generation of logisticians since 2017. Both programmes for which she is Operations Manager, NOVUS and Think Logistics, are strategic solutions to the skills shortages in logistics. The programmes work with leading companies and eminent membership bodies to provide applied, industryrelevant education across schools, colleges and universities to create work-ready career entrants.
